I think Willie deserves another job too and will probably do much better in a smaller market where he won’t have to deal with the media, which was obviously something he could not handle here. As far as the third best winning percentage in mets history, while it may be technically true, he had one year that he finished 32 games over, so those #’s are a bit skewed. He did a good job changing the culture in his honeymoon year of 05, but they also replaced al leiter with pedro, got rid of john franco, brought in the best FA on the market in Beltran. He had minimal expectations that year wnd we would have been happy to be close to 500, let alone above. they came into 07 with huge expectations and eventually collapsed, and he would have been 500 this year if he finished the year. Agan, i’m not saying he was a bad man, but his time ran out here and the team needed a new voice. Manuel might be part of that regime, but at least now he’s in charge and can speak his mind, I’m sure he is a lot at fault for the collapse and the mediocrity this year, but i’m sure we have all hadd jobs where we disagreed with our bosses on a lot of thier managerial aspects and the way they ran things but were forced to bite our lips because we had to know what our role was.

Matt, are those sunglasses supposed to represent the gangsta look, or a replica of Jerry’s glasses?

You need to find a nice image of Jerry’s glasses to put up there when you speak about him. Alternatively, when you do the gangsta thing, put a fedora up there (I read somewhere that when Jerry managed one of the squads in an intrasquad game, he named them the gangstas and borrowed a fedora from Carlos Beltran….)

he bashed me and called me a fairweather fan (and possibly racist). and he is sitting home crying to the media about everyone who betrayed him, while wearing his negro leagues shirt which i am sure is a complete coincidence. so i think this is well deserved.

Willie deserves a job. We’ve seen in the past that spending money doesn’t guarantee wins. His record (the 2nd best winning % in Mets history) is definitely a testament to him, not the fact that ownership spent money.

He got nothing out of Pedro. One big year from Beltran. Wright and Reyes emerged under him. But most of all, he brought a winning attitude to Queens. As Mets fans, I think we should be grateful and not bash the man. But to each their own.

Yeah I don’t understand what else they could want him to do. He’s on pace to pass most of his 06 numbers, yet there are still people on here saying he should be traded.
