Its time to fire Omar Minaya. The way he and his lapdog, Tony Bernazard, have handled this team shows that they should both go. The Willie firing….the Delgado trade…the Catstillo contract…and on and on. I mean this is the guy that dealth Cliff Lee, Barndon Phillips and Grady Sizemore for a half a season of Bartolo Colon. Do you want him to do this to your team?

    • Jova1931 says:

No one complained of the Delgado trade in ‘06 and after the ‘06 season, especially the playoffs.
You don’t want Minaya running the team? He’s made some bad trade, as any GM does.
Did you foget about the Oliver Perez trade?
      The Church & Schneider trade?
      The John Maine trade?
      The Orlando Hernandez trade?
      The Jose Valentine signing?
      The Carlos Beltran signing?
      The Pedro Martinez signing?
      The Scott Schoenweis signing?

With the bad, there is more than enough good.
      Let’s be serious.

Whoa there. (Incidentally, it’s “Valentin.” NO E. Let’s get that one out of the way.

        (1) We may never know whether Maine was a focus or a throw-in salvaged by the pitching coach we just fired. I’ve read that Omar really focused on getting Jorge Julio. Again, we don’t know.
        (2) Perez has proven to be a mixed bag. Did you watch last night?
        (3) Do we really want to go there with the Pedro signing? We hear a lot about intangibles, giving credibility, etc., but as a purely baseball move, was it a good deal for the money? It was no secret that the guy was banged up when we inked him.
        (4) Schoeneweis? Really? Good couple of months this year, but when Omar’s proponents are holding him up as an example of a great move, that says something.

We all know the failings (Burgos, Vargas, overemphasis on old, no farm system.)

        That’s being serious.

        • Jova1931 says:

20-20 is hindsight. Good points, and sorry about the Valentin mispelling.
People loved Perez, Valentin, Delgado and Maine before this year and I think Perez and Maine have the potential of continuing to grow into something special. Whether or not Minaya wanted them as the centerpiece of any deal is really not the point, but getting them here and having them as low risk/high reward is good proof to what Minaya has done.

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Well, that’s fair. He got them. Period.

But, GM is supposed to have foresight. That’s the nature of the job. Has to be judged in hindsight, to some degree. Results-oriented business.

        • JSC1968 says:

He did better than the guy before him you know …

          Kazmir for Zambrano??

Also, I hate Schneider because he sucks at the plate and I wonder why nobody bitches about him. But, Church seems so FAR like a brilliant move. Nady was a great move. Perez was a great move. Because without him you don’t make it past the first round in the playoffs. Pedro was great, because that opened the doors in DR to get guys like Gomez and Fernando Martinez.

Burgos and Vargas are still young and their books have not been closed yet. Stay tuned.

Holy god, those are some neck/shoulder mucles on easley!

  3. Jova1931 says:

Gary Cohen’s homerun call for Easley woke me up in the middle of the night. I woke up scared more than anything once I figured out the Mets had actually tied the game, went into extras and took the lead. It was a pleasant surprise.

    • toomanyuniforms says:

Every time I suggest DamiOn (I keep spelling his name wrong) be expunged from the roster, he gets a few hits. He can stay. Valentin will have to wait.

      • garykeithron says:

i think you should keep suggesting he be expunged so he keeps getting hits. he’d be happy with that too

by the way, anyone catch gary’s horrible “the Mets easely take tonight’s game” or something like that. omg

        • toomanyuniforms says:

          EXPUNGE EASLEY!

And the rest of the lineup! (maybe it works for all of them.)

        • JSC1968 says:

          LOL!!! Good one.

        • pac_manjones says:

“EASLEY the best win of the past 2 seasons”

It was a great one, but I was in attendance for Endy’s walk off bunt, that was pretty special. Oh and who tied it down 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th, 0-2 count, 2 outs? Damion Easley, solo shot. The man is CLUTCH.

        • garykeithron says:

so many people keep calling to get rid of chavez and easley, but I think they both contribute a lot more than people realize. Endy, esp with his defense, saves so many runs. Easley didn’t play great in the infield 2 nights ago, but the mets use him at about 5 different positions – mostly in the outfield when he’s more of an infielder -so how do you keep your skills honed at all those positions?

Anyway, people will be calling for chavez’ and easley’s heads again next time the team is unproductive. sigh

    • garykeithron says:

      gary is a scary guy.

  4. Matt, assuming you fell asleep and woke up with your laptop next to your pillow, you still only get, max, 5 and a half hours of sleep.

  5. garykeithron says:

anyone notice that gary has a bit of an elvis thing going on with his lip?
