Read: Hope Is All We Have Left

by Mike Nichols on June 20th, 2008 at 10:05 am

In his latest column for the New York Post, Mike Vaccaro that despite their comeback win on Thursday against the Angels, the Mets still have a lot of hard work ahead of them.

Vaccaro writes…

“For all the good things the Mets awaken to this morning, there is still this ultra-sobering fact: They are still a game under .500. There are still two teams to leapfrog in the division, and three in the wild-card standings…There is still baseball, and a baseball season, left for the Mets, and their wounded fan base, to care about if they so desire. Time may be the best healer of all wounds. But hope isn’t such a bad option, either.”

…as Janish wrote yesterday on MetsBlog, the odds are stacked against the Mets this season, but clearly the underdog role is a position most of us as Mets fans are comfortable with…

…i mean, it’s nice to hear the pundits pick the Mets to be the favorite to win the national league, but those predictions also make me a bit unformtable…this franchise was built on hope and if hope is all we have, so be it…hope is what makes me a Mets fan…

…ya gotta believe…
