Can't pick up 3.5 games on this site. Has to be either 3 or 4 losses. We don't do 'games' in the standings, that's too trite.

The funniest part of last night's game was when they were talking about how Dickey shouldn't be physically able to turn a doorknob, let alone pitch. And then I looked at the score.

In 2006 the Cards were not as good as people think ,during the regualar season. Here is a break down I looked up on espn.com.

As of 8/15/06: Mets-71-47 Cards-63-55
As of 8/31/06: Mets-82-50 Cards-71-61
As of 9/15/06: Mets-90-56 Cards-78-68
As of 10/3/06: Mets-97-65 Cards-83-78

We all know what they were like in September, but as you can see the Cards were not even close to the Mets in August too.
IMO, they got hot at the right time that season. Maybe this year Roman Castro will have the BIG hit to put us in the World Series!

If we had another legitimate tablesetter, I wouldn't mind seeing Reyes hit 6th with Beltran in the 2 hole. I'm pretty sure that Reyes was moved to the 6th spot a few years ago (I think when his OBP. was less than anemic). He tore it up for a short period of time. It was a small sample, but he could be deadly in the 6th hole.

The question is how do we get two more productive players

And really two more productive players aren't going to fix an erratic bullpen, or give us 2 more reliable starters.

It's the end of June. They've had half a season to try and figure it out. And the point is do we go all in at the deadline if they haven't figured it out by then or do we go ahead and start trying to retool for next year.

Honestly if this team get two more productive players in the line up they can fix most of there problems oddly the season isnt over. If we go into the series next week with this line up we should just pack it in
