The Mets actived OF Ryan Church from the disabled list today and will take the roster spot occupied by OF Trot Nixon, who was placed on the 15-day disabled listed with a strained groin.

Well Nixon quickly proved he’s worthless

Richard Nixon? was there someone named Nixon on the Mets?
welcome back Ryan-Stay healthy and give us some energy

How do you strain your groin?

  4. Church4prez says:

he strained it looking at that mariano fastball right down the middle last night

Really great to see Church in there today so we don’t have to suffer through the likes of Trot Nixon and Nick Evan. Even better to see him go 2 for 4 and hit the ball hard on his outs. He should be batting ahead of Delgado.

  6. Churchie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    He’s back =D

    Right field, Friday night!

While we are all bagging on Nixon, it would be okay to point out that he walked as many times as Fernando Tatis and Marlon Anderson combined in 1/6 of the plate appearances.

yeah, you can’t really rag on nixon if he was playing in these games and he was hurt. He could have told jerry he was hurt, but he insisted on playing. There are some players on the team that need to learn the difference from being sore and hurting, and nixon was hurting. Hope he comes back soon to prove he can still play when healthy.

How is it that within days or weeks of being a Met, outfielders find a way to hurt themselves? Honestly, someone needs to count up how many different players haved played the outfield for the Mets over the last two years. I’d imagine it’s a roster’s worth.

In a way I’m glad Nixon’s hurt. When I got to the game and confirmed Church in the lineup, I assumed they ditched Tatis, but then Tatis showed up to play first and I was confused. I didn’t think they’d have gotten rid of Trot or Phillips who they just acquired.

I liked Trot, and I hope when he returns from his ‘injury’ (dubious) that he’s given a spot on the bench again. He’s a great baseball guy and I think with more time and in the right role, he’s a great fit on this team. We need more players like Trot. That said, it’s good to have Church’s bat back in the lineup.

Agreed. Glad we found a way not to DFA him.

    • Jmiles says:

I would agree with you if this was Trot of 4 years ago.His desire is there-His skills aren’t.

    • RPsJacket says:

      I don’t see it.

Alou may be back next week, and Tatis or Anderson will have to go. It will likely be Tatis as they are in love with anderson and his 190 BA.

I just can’t see Nixon having a spot when/if alou returns.

What does it mean to be “actived”?
