Ryan Church returned to the lineup yesterday and had two hits in four at bats while starting in right field.
Church told reporters after the game that he has not experienced any post-concussion symptoms in a two weeks, noting that he was a bit fatigued, but that that is expected.
…the key will be how church reacts following the team’s flight to St. Louis…if all goes well, i think he’s in the clear…
Church is batting .304 with 10 HR and 35 RBI in 51 games played for the Mets this season.

We sure missed you Church. Now keep up the good work!!! Let’s go Mets!!!!
Totally random comment — is Omar the only GM who wears his team hat when at the ballpark? He may not be a genius but I think that is kinda cool.
(BTW Cashman should take a lesson from Omar – his dome needs a covering to prevent a serious burn!)
I’d feel more comfortable if they were reporting he’d been cleared by a specialist or something.
Yeah, but 2 weeks w/out symptoms is above and beyond the usual rest period.
Having Church on the roster again will make a huge difference. Replacement has the double value of adding greatness and subtracting mediocrity.
^ Best believe.
In fact, it helps this team more than it would pretty much any other Major League club — in that Church is almost Ruthean compared to who he’ll be replacing in our lineup.
It’s not like we’re losing even a .700 OPS guy like Pagan. Church is being slotted into the lineup for guys like Marlon Anderson and Trot Nixon — with Church’s return, we’re losing guys with OPS-es WELL under .600 like Marlon Anderson (.513) and Trot Nixon (.578).
Welcome back, Churchie — time to get back to work!!
So happy to have Churchy back – and loving the goatee!
