Damn, it’s hard to post here lately!

Just typed a long (and I thought well-thought out) message, and it was all for nought.

Don’t really feel like doing it again, so I’ll cut to the chase…

I think maybe Tatis wins out over Phillips because he can also spell Wright at third. The team relies too heavily on Easley because of Castillo’s fragility. Easley can’t play third and second at the same time.

I don’t think anyone said we need Piazza back. Just that a Catcher who’s as bad on offense as Schneider is sticks out like a sore thumb in a line-up like this.

But that being said, even as far as catchers go Schneider is one of the worst offensively in the league. So it’s not like we’re getting similar production from the catcher spot most teams are getting.

You’re right on with this-why would you have picked Phillips up in the first place since he is a 1B not an outfielder where the Mets have played him.

The Mets trying to fill the OF reminds me of when they were trying to replace the fifth starter with Alay Soler and Jose Lima. Garbage in – Garbage out. Makes you sick

Piazza is gone. Get over it. The days of being spoiled by a good offensive catcher is gone. Catching is a weak offensive position. 95% of the league don’t have a good offensive catcher. Live with it. There are other positions to worry about besides our catching.

I don’t think that Fernando Tatis is a defensive replacement for Carlos Delgado. For one, he doesn’t really hit for power. Since being called up to New York, he only has 1 home run. He probably be more of an outfield replacement more then a first base replacement.

Yea, it’s getting really REALLY bad when there’s literally no reason to watch innings 7 8 and 9 if we’re trailing. Gary said it during the game yesterday that the mets haven’t come back from a deficit of more than 2 runs this entire season (if I recall correctly, was a few “god the mets suck” beers deep at that point)….that number is pathetic.
