News: Crutches, Flat Ground and Sporadic
By Matthew Cerrone - Jul 2, 2008 12:00 pm

Yes, as Ted Berg was first to report this morning, I broke my toe earlier today.

According to the doctor, though I am required to be on crutches for two to three weeks, I have been cleared to blog from flat ground.

So, while posting from my laptop may be sporadic, I will not require any significant time on the disabled list.

seriously, though, thank you for the kind words of support, which i appreciate…also, hats off to Ted Berg and Mike Nichols for seamlessly stepping in to the rotation

Can you get awesome handicap parking and seats at Shea now?

  5. zer09 says:

Surely by “seemlessly” you mean “seamlessly”….nice to see that the painkillers are working. :)

  6. JohnMilner says:

    Matt,

When can we start referring to you as the Moises Alou of the blogosphere? ~:c)

  7. Justin4383 says:

Wow I had what I thought would be a good post in mind but it looks like everyone beat me to it.

  8. Nate W. says:

    get well soon!

and dont let the trainers change your walking gait, you’ll only end up hurting your calf muscle and missing more time.

  9. Mookie1986 says:

    ::sniff, sniff::

I hate to get all emotional, but it’s good to see you up and around, man. What a trooper! The true definition of a warrior!

Oh now I’m getting all misty…

    ::sniff, sniff::

  10. MetsFan4Decades says:

You’re getting to be like the Mets, Matt. If you didn’t have bad luck, you’d have none at all….

Seriously, sorry to hear about the injury. I know how painful it can be. Looking forward to your continued posts.

  11. Ha, blogging on one leg? Kirk Gibson of the blogosphere :D hope you get well soon Matt :) by the way did the banner change? it seems different…

  12. Can you let us know what exactly happened? There are a few rumors going around… a stubbed toe… you dropped an Iron on it… or you injured it running the bases eventhough you shouldn’t have been running the basees since you are a blogger and that we should really get into the 21st century..

    What one is it man?!?

  13. Displaced Mets Fan says:

Feel better and keep up the great work. Great to know that even when you go down to injury there is MetsBlog, breaking the news. Kudos to Ted on breaking the story!

  14. garykeithron says:

i’m just hoping we don’t have to be informed about all matt’s health issues…..any UTI’s, you can keep to yourself, please

By the way, Nunez isn’t coming up to replace Matt, is he? If anything, we need another catcher

  15. murdertron3000 says:

Really pulling a Willis Reed today, dude. Nice work!

  16. mavicario says:

Glad to see you back Matt.
Would’ve expected you to take the day off, but it’s obvious that you’re a gamer.

  17. kowalski69 says:

Just heard Chris Russo say that Cerrone is soft and has no heart

    • garykeithron says:

plus he threw a tantrum the other day – threw down his pen in front of everybody when he made a spelling error

  18. BringBackDaveTelgheder says:

Damn, I lost a bet that Moises Alou would be back before Matt. That’ll teach me!

  19. stumped1 says:

at least you have a toe to break

  20. Shamas says:

Who’s blogging and who’s in pain?
Cerrone, go get yourself a cane
    Like Moises, comin’ up lane
Go get yerself a cheap cane

  21. SheaVendor says:

    Feel better Matt…Seriously though…WHA HAPPEN???

  22. SheaVendor says:

At least your not Chris Snyder from the D’Backs..”Left testicular fracture”

  23. metfanb says:

hey matt i hope you feel better. i dont no wat we would do with out you. do know anything about international signing day. did the mets sign anyone. are they looking into anyone.

    • Adam_Jones says:

Learn to spell and use proper grammar if you’re attempting to use the English language. Since you are asking about the international signing day, you may be foreign, if so, study up on your English.

      • garykeithron says:

this is a blog, not an english class

      • Tina says:

This is just nastiness. You want to correct a native speaker, it’s silly but whatever, I realize that’s how small people make themselves feel big. But you correct someone who’s just trying to communicate in a language they weren’t born into, you’re an assh*le.

      • mr.gee21 says:

“Since you are asking about the international signing day, you may be foreign, if so, study up on your English.”

Your syntax is awful. Please use proper grammar yourself before you attempt to belittle others.

        Sincerely,

All of us who are not jerks like you

  24. metfanb says:

I’m still in grade school so give me a little lenience.

  25. Deadpanwalking says:

GAWD! I’m so sick of these old bloggers writing for the first part of the season and then going on the DL! Geezus, can we get rid of the Cerrone guy and try to get some fresh young blood on the laptop? I hear the Harvard program is spitting out guys left and right, or we could go with a local kid out of Columbia or NYU. How much is left on Cerrone’s contract?

  26. wesdp1988 says:

Who needs toes anyways, just cut it off and get back to bloggin you big baby! Just kiddin, best of luck with the recovery

  27. lambay says:

    hey there Matt,

get well soon! But seriously what the hell happened?

  28. Gaspar says:

Matt, you’re like Tuscany tile: beautiful but brittle.

Did the Mets send you to see Dr. Altchek?

  29. drtmuir says:

    Get well fast, Matt.
How did it happen? My mom broke her toe when a roast beef fell out of the freezer onto her foot.
