According to a report in Newsday, John Maine will make his scheduled start on Saturday and does not have a so-called “dead arm.”
David Lennon writes:
Maine blamed a harried workweek for his poor preparation and said his side session Friday – the day of the split-stadium doubleheader – was rushed. As for his next start, Saturday in Philadelphia, the Mets aren’t worried.

That’s refreshing news..to say the least.
Like they say:
You will make 30 starts most season. You will be untouchable 10, you wont pitch worth pennies in 10, it is the other 10 that make you a good pitcher…
this was one of those ‘not worth pennies’ outings. Let’s make it up next time my friends!
Maine needs to start going deep. Even if it means pitching 120, he has to pitch 7 innings. Hes a better pitcher then he has shown this year.
so you’re saying he needs to “turn it on, turn it on again.”
This is off-topic, but that Newsday piece also confirms that Alou will be back with the team by this weekend. Wasn’t Tony Bernazard telling reporters that Alou wouldn’t be ready any time soon when we first started hearing this over the weekend?
Can Alou play first?
He just didn’t want to get our hopes up.
Alou has looked good in his rehab starts… that does not mean that he won’t have something random happen to him tonight… but like Dan says at majorleaguesarcasm.com “Alou is going for the St. Lucie batting title!”
hahaha
btw. Is Matt ok? No posts from him since 3:44 yesterday.
Did anyone see Tatis give Ollie a nut slap during the post game high fives? Hilarious.
¿Que?
Finally some well thought out and humorous headlines on Metsblog.
A far cry from “Maine is Good”, and “Reyes wants to WIn”.
