I know the he isn't a hitting threat....but I guess this means that Anderson Hernandez's chances with the Mets is pretty much over. Again, I am not hinting that he is the answer, I was just wondering...

Why cant the Mets just trade Schoeweneis to the Brewers for Bill Hall and he can play 2b. Then we can release Eisley. Hall has demanded a trade and we definitely would get younger and perhaps a change of atmosphere would spark him to the numbers hes used to put up.

Trade Delgado to Seatle for Sexson. If he pans out keep him, if not let him walk and become a free agent.

Trade Heilmann to the Pirates for Nady. Then Heilman can start for the Bucs as he wants and he probably will do well for them. this way we can release Alou and Nady plays left. Nady, Beltran and Church, not bad an OF. Sexson, Hall, Reyes, Wright.

This is a shakeup!

"Prior to last night’s game, Jerry Manuel told reporters that Luis Castillo’s entire body is essentially in pain, from his thigh to his hip to his back, due to overcompensating for pain in his knees."

Hey, my entire body is essentially in pain, too, thinking about his contract.

Reyes up wearing #4 for Castillo DL'd.

Muniz down and Aguilla up, #29.

Maybe for once we can reward a kid for having a good season rather than reward retreads for being on waivers when we have a slight need for them.

Inconsistency is the trademark of a team that is too young or too old, and we know where the Mets fall on that scale.

No matter how you cut it, the problem is that they have too many guys who don't have any more upside. Save for the steriod/HGH era, who gets better after 30? or 35?

Ultimately, however, Omar's decision not to fire Willie after last year will be the one that seals his fate. (And don't tell me Manuel is no better, since he would not have gotten the job if Willie had been canned in the off-season.)

the 2001 D-Backs. Sorry for the confusion. And I was talking about the '97 Marlins too, not the '03 Marlins.

I'd like to see A. Reyes. He looked like he had some spunk and fire in Spring Training. Make Jose put a "J" next to his last name to show him that this is about team.

In the ideal world, A. Reyes lights it up, gels with J. Reyes, the team responds, and Castillo stays on the DL. (Then we release his hobbling self or trade him for a bag of balls...)

I'm not even sure if this is a possibility, but I say the Mets go after Brian Roberts. Eat--devour--Castillo's contract, please. On another note: if the season progresses and it becomes clear that the Mets will not make the playoffs, I vote for giving Heilman the opportunity to make a few starts. Just let him pitch and see what he can do.
