And before I get torn a new one, this comment is predicated on my understanding that 'rehab' games are geared towards getting a player's timing back, not building strength, because honestly you are not going to build anything in 3 days as far as strength, and Alou will have his timing when he's 90.

When I bought Cyclones tix for a game in a few weeks I didn't know we'd have 3 first rounders playing there. Good stuff - looking forward to it.

I got ripped the other day for referring to the Mets lack of urgency getting guys on the field...but here we go again.

Does Moises Alou REALLY need 3 games of minor league ABs to be "ready?" If he is healthy enough for rehab, how the hell can you rationlaize skipping over four CRUCIAL games in Philly just because he missed out on some ABs in the Florida State League. Am I crazy? Is it me? If he plays four more games all year - a distinct possibility - thse four are as good as any.

But no, Omar's on this as usual. Let's drop 3 of 4 to the Phillies while Alou goes 5 for 12 against some AA pitchers, and then activate him for some utterly worthless games against the freaking Giants. Or maybe he can hurt himself in Bongo since he probably only has a few dozen healthy ABs in him anyway.

With all of our elderly players rehabbing so much, Bingo is an appropriate name for that club. Maybe they should have some Early Bird Special Promotionals there, too.

I'm not worried about what day Moises joins the team.

But I am worried about how many days he spend in the starting line-up for the remainder of the year.

Castillo can still get obp, so it's not a complete black hole, and taking him out of the two hole, in theory, gives him fewer opportunities to hit into dps. And gives Reyes more opportunities to drive runners in. It's not the greatest thing ever but it's probably the best option we have.

For a minute there, I thought the headline was "Alou to rehab FROM Bingo"- that he had injured himself with one of those highlighter-things, or maybe strained his vocal cords yelling 'bingo' after a win...

One would think that this trauma you speak of would be similar to that of a pitcher running the bases. Just ask Hankenstein and Wang.

What we have here, on days that Castillo is playing, is a black hole from 6-7-8-9. On days that Castillo is playing, Castro needs to catch. We just don't have enough offense to make up for lack of production from 6-9. That is about half of the order with zero pop.
