Too simple. If it isn't convoluted, it's not a major league deal.

I wasn't serious, really. But I do wonder what the Mets are going to do about 1B, because I really doubt we're gonna get Teixeira (we will likely be outbid), and as much as I'd like to believe one of the AA or AAA kids will step in and become an all star, the buzz doesn't seem to suggest that's likely right now.

Doesnt Milledge have to actually show that he's growing as a player before we can continue to pine for his potential?

I like Schneider a lot. I think he's a far better catcher (defensively) than Ramon, and I don't get the "overrated" comments that keep coming up here.

I know Casto hits better, but only by 16 points (.271 with a .358 OBP, versus Schneider's .255 and .333, respectively). That means Casto gets a hit 27% of the time, to Schneider's 25.5%. You really think that's going to make a big difference? Casto's run production is marginally better, but the sample size here is pretty small, so I'm not sure any of this is statistically significant.

I like Schneider. I think he throws base stealers out as well or better than anyone in the league, I think he's made some excellent plays at the plate, and I think he's smart and calls a good game (and for this, we have to rely on his teammates, because there's no really good way for a fan to know this). Castro is pretty good too, but I think Schneider has a clear edge defensively, and their hitting is not that different.

I know this is not a popular opinion here -- everyone wants sluggers -- but I just don't think more Castro is going to make that much of a difference in our numbers.

And neither of them could run if their lives depended on it, by the way.

Church should be the captain of this team.

Who cares if this is his first season with the club. Who cares if he is not the "best" player.

Put the C on his jersey.
