Health: Alou to work out in NYC, Pagan Battles On
By Matthew Cerrone - Jul 4, 2008 2:45 pm

Instead of traveling to Binghamton to play tonight for the Double-A B’Mets, Moises Alou will workout this weekend in New York, after which the team will re-evaluate him upon returning to Shea Stadium on Monday, said Jerry Manuel to reporters prior to yesterday’s game.

Initial reports suggested that Alou would play for Binghamton tonight, then return to the Mets on Monday.

Speaking of outfielders, Manuel also told reporters that Angel Pagan will not have season-ending surgery, as he has shown improvements of late in his recovery from a dislocated shoulder.

Woo hoo! Only less excuses why the Mets are the biggest underachievers in the MLB and more reason why the Phillies division win will be all the more sweeter!

Perhaps it’s almost time to be a Yankees fan guys.

    • K-Hern says:

yea …. because the yanks and their $200+ payroll has it all figured out

    • Hubie says:

You need to learn how to spell your own name.

    • Gina says:

The Yankees couldn’t pay me to be a Yankees fan.

    • cleonsvan says:

time to go back to your group home you mental midget

      • admiralwright says:

jonn your son is thrilled, you haven’t beaten him in the last 12 minutes. we’ll save that for later i guess, after you re-hash the high school glory days

  2. Church4prez says:

church not in tonight. that really is bad

  3. Jonn says:

    Haha, great point.

  4. J0eSmiTh says:

    link??

  5. youknowwhatimsayin says:

    Yay,

This organization is NEVER on the same page with each other.

  6. EliPorter says:

man, i hope alou is back for more than 10 minutes this time

  7. Gina says:

Meh. At this point I see Alou as more of a luxury, that’s probably not the right word, than anything. The team and FO should probably approach decision making like he doesn’t exist.

  8. 911nafstem says:

    Test

  9. lil pelf says:

There are too many “luxury” players on this team because of age… Pedro, Delgado, Hernandez, Alou. How can the front office make personnel decisions when so many players are boom or bust?

  10. lil pelf says:

you can’t pretend that half the team doesn’t exist

  11. 4eyeJoe says:

    tonight’s lineup:

    Reyes, ss
    Chavez, rf
    Wright, 3b
    Beltran, cf
    Degado, 1b
    Easley, 2b
    Castro, c
    Aguila, lf
    Santana, lhp

    church gets the day off.

  12. lil pelf says:

    that’s a shame

  13. Church4prez says:

what a f’n disgrace. how do you play auila in left??? Do they even want to win???

    • k-mets says:

Do you want Anderson? or Easley? Church needs a rest. I think that Chaves will need a break, He is not everyday player.

      • als102 says:

Honestly this is not the time to rest he should rest when they get back to play S.F. Church is still swinging the bat well and since Church was in the line up during that St. Louis series we were actually having a solid offense. We really need our best line up in there this weekend its pretty important. I thought Jerry got that.

        • k-mets says:

True…could Jerry thought maybe he want to be careful with Church especially with concussion. Do you think there will be a game anyway? It is suppose to be bad.

        • metsjam says:

I suspect the plane flight has something to do with it. That’s what seemed to trigger his setbacks before.

  14. dominicanboy08 says:

    is the philly pitcher lefty?

  15. 911nafstem says:

I’m all for giving players rest, but did Manuel really have to sit Church in what is the most important game of the season to date?

  16. Koko says:

Maybe my mind made this up, but i thought I did notice Church grab his right hamstring when he was one 1st during last nights game.

Also noticed him walking back a little gingerly the night before (Wednesday) when he chased a ball in foul terrority.

Maybe he ‘tweaked’ his hammy a little in Wednesday nights game and kept it ‘tweaked’ last night, but didn’t say anything to the Mets until on the plane. Who knows. . . . .

  17. stickguy says:

he is still getting back into game shape. Give him the day off against the lefty, and let him go the rest of the weekend.

Getting real dark in Philly now (I am about 12 miles away from the satdium). They should play, but could easily have a rain delay or 2 due to storms.

  18. MetsFan234 says:

I hope these guys can come back. At least now we don’t have to worry about Angel Pagan being done for the season.
