In the 12th inning, with one out, Carlos Delgado on first and the game tied, Fernando Tatis hit a home run to deep center field for the game winning run.
Billy Wagner, after the game:
“Church said he was gonna hit a home run. I mean, I think knowing that guys believe in each other, knowing that guys are pick each other up when they’re having a tough day, I think that’s how you start to build. Guys are starting to believe that guys are picking them up, that you don’t have to go out there and have your A-game every day…And that’s exactly what it was today.”
Jerry Manuel on Tatis’ clutch hit:
“Big, big hit by Tatis…It showed that we didn’t quit.”
…it was obviously great to win such a hard fought game…good job by tatis to pick billy up…

.500 & a fresh start to the week.
Glad to see the team going back to the 06 mantra…hopefully their play will follow as well. Super tatis to the rescue again and a great win to not only get to .500 but to also shut up the philli fans at CBP. Great job guys.
minor point, but Delgado was on 2nd, sacrificed over by Easley, a tad questionable what with the percentages being better of a runner scoring from 1st and no out vs 2nd and 1 out…but is is
That is standard operating procedure–get the guy in scoring position. With a fast runner, like Reyes/Chavez/Beltran, I can see the merit of your point – those guys can easily score from 1st on a double. With a guy like Delgado, not so much.
I think that is great Church said that, but how about Wagner starts hanging “SIGNED NOTES” in each pitchers locker, sorry, I stunk today…Hello Billy.
I disagree billy, you of all people need to have your “A” game every time your out there because your appearances are so short but important.
