Why not? Because we have similar guys in AAA. The only reason they're not up here is because they're not on the 40 man roster. We should trade for this guy and guarantee him a spot on our roster?

I realize morales is only 25, but you do realize he is in the minors, and he has ops'd a whopping 717 in the majors while hitting 9 hr's.

Cruz seems to be one of the AAAA players that is too good for AAA, but not quite good enough to hit in the majors.

Then again, that may be better than the spare parts we've been throwing out in left field for much of the season (Anderson, Evans, Aguila, Nixon, Clark). If he can be had cheap, why not?

I'd be happy with Beltran, Chavez and either Alou or Church every day. Who knows if we'll ever be see either of those two for an extended period. Better come up with a backup plan Omar.

If I was Minaya, i would seriously start throwin Heilman's name around a package of some mid level prospects to improve this team. We have plenty of guys in the minors to replace him, namely Muniz and Kunz (who should be up here already). And what with El Duque probably going to the pen, I think we have more than enough to lose the awesome power of Heilman and still be able to move forward as a team.

Next!

We have plenty of guys like this. If you look at Cruz's stats, he's already 28 years old. Before this year, the max he ever hit was 20HR in a season. He's shown that he can't hit ML pitching with 3 cups of tea in the Majors. What's so great about him besides a fluke year?

What would it take to get Kendry Morales from the Angels? He hits for power from both sides of the plate and the Angels are overloaded with 1B.

Does anyone know what needs they have? Can the Mets fill them?

Here's an interesting tidbit...we were the first team to sign Nelson Cruz. However, in typical Steve Phillips fashion, he was sent to the Oakland A's in 2000, netting the immortal Jorge Velandia (who went 11 for 74 in his Mets career) in return.
