I keed, because I love. FWIW, Ron Darling won me over as a fan for life twenty-four years ago, when he chatted with me for almost twenty minutes, and was just the sweetest kid you could imagine. He spreads a lot of good will.

But whoever it was in SNY’s (or Sovereign Bank’s) marketing department who came up with this contest, or at least the wording of it, ought to be sent back down to the advertising minors. Send me to a ballgame with Ronnie, or dinner, or tell me he’ll come to a barbecue at my house and give me and my pals tips on how to throw a good slider. Or fine, let me hang out with him before a game, but “join him as he prepares for the game?” Wow, that sounds like an action packed afternoon, doesn’t it? Watch Ron prepare. The very word, “prepare” — kinda sends chills down your spine, doesn’t it?
