Beltran has been that dreck for a good portion of the season.

I gave Wright a C (no B- available), so I sure as hell aint giving Beltran nothing higher than that.

D is too harsh, so he gets a C.

I think that he was just trying to say that the throw was justified. He wasn’t really blaming DW, he was just saying that if it’s caught, it’s an out, not a bad throw.

At a 4th of july bbq the other day I was talking with a friends father about baseball and he went off on how beltran was one of the bigest busts of all time (guess what team he roots for…)

I countered that, that sounds like someone who doesnt know anything about baseball and to name me 1 OFer that you would rather have.

He told me he doesnt know anyone else and to give him names.

I hate yankee fans.

We have the best centerfielder in baseball and that’s that. Name one guy you would rather have. Almost every game Beltran does something on D that makes my eyes pop, even if it is just cutting a ball off in the gap, or making an impossible play look like a routine fly ball. We knew when the Mets got Beltran that he wasn’t going to put up A-Rod numbers, most centerfielders don’t. He is what he is. He is a great ball player and I for one am glad he is on the Mets. I give him a B for this year and maybe even a B+ for his defense. He has also come up with some big hits, but Mets fans have short memories, unless it goes back to 06.

Regardless of whether Beltran’s throw was justified, Why does Billy Wagner get a free pass on not backing up 3rd????

I think the throw was a good thought; it was a little off, but Wright should have caught it first and tried the tag second. The only reason it went for an error was that Wright tried to do too much.

it might irk beltran that he plays gold-glove defense all year with perhaps one or two mistakes and those mistakes are magnified where as wright can be a butcher at third costing a few games a year and gets very little flak along with an undeserved gold-glove last year.

no slight on wright who is a great player and has improved defensively.
