pelf couls easily be 12-4, and i could explain easily, k, look, against cincinatti, when he ditched the mouthpiece, went 6 innings allowed 2 runs, but got no run support, next, against the nationals, he went 7.2 innings with 1 hit and 1 run, and they lost 1-0, and pelf got the lost so so far 0-2, and then against the dodgers when he went 7 innings allowing 2 runs, ended up getting a no decision but the mets won it against jonathon broxton, but he couldve got the win, and remember in arizona when he went into the 9th and would have definitely won but billy wagner gave up a 3 run home run to mark reynolds with 2 outs and an 0-2 count. so take away 2 losses, 8-4, add 4 wins, and you end up with 12-4, all star caliber if i do say so myself.

Reyes should definately have made the All Star game. Because of the way the voting is set up, if you have a slow start you are definately screwed. Voting starts on May 2! The season just started! MLB is just encouraging the vote to be a popularity contest... and about what the player has done in the past because that's what you'd be voting for on May 2! If you have an especially hot start, you'll get a lot of votes early. I think the only fair way is to make voting start at the midway point... That's like 3 weeks before the All Star game.

I remember that comment Olney said on Baseball Tonight.. I had to play what he said over again.. His exact words when referring to the pitching staff ass was "too old"... huh? Every started other than Pedro is under 30...

steve phillips should not be allowed to utter the name of our beloved organization. he's right up there with scott layden and isiah thomas of Knicks fame in terms of horrible NY sports GMs.

that's actually how it's supposed to be pronounced in spanish (with an accent on the "A"). Miller for the most part pronounces latino names very well for a white man.

Metsgeek. They switched back about a week and a half later. It was a complete joke, that's actually a great site for mets analysis/discussion with a statistical bent to it.

I hardly ever get a chance to watch the Mets. However, we get all the Sunday night games. Uggh. If I could match up WFAN (mlb.com audio) to the t.v. picture I'd mute Jon & Joe and go with Howie & Wayne. Cannot stand ESPN's coverage.

Anyway, one thing I'll point out is that back early in the year I posted a comment here on Pelfrey. I was only repeating what I'd heard on Baseball Tonight - might have been Olney. Anyway, I posted the comment which was that tall pitchers need more time to develop consistency. He was talking about Andrew Miller, but I posted here that Pelfrey might just need a bit more time.

I'm not genius, but whoever made that remark on Baseball Tonight sure seems like one to me now.

I still like Willie. I'm glad they made the move, but I can't see wishing ill on him. I half wonder if they'd ditched Peterson before the season if Willie might still be in his job.

Agreed. It would be awesome if we could just keep playing and not interrupt this streak with the AS break. But maybe the guys need a blow and won't lose the charge.

Omar gets a lot of grief for not anticipating Alou's pathetic lack of health and Church's concussion and mismanaging it. He also gets a ton of grief for not having tossed Willie earlier or for signing slappy mchappyton to a 4 year deal (Castillo).

But he should get immense credit for the things he has done this year alone.

1) Got us Santana and did not give up Pelfrey, Maine, Reyes or Fmart to do it

2) Brought in Easley who has performed brilliantly to date taking over for the injured Castillo

3) Brought in Church who clearly has the potential to be our Paul Oneil if he can stay healthy

4) Unearthed a done Tatis who has already this year hit 5 GW hits in his limited duty. Tatis may not be able to keep it up but his production in the recent weeks have been a big part of the growth of the team

5) Not done anything yet with Delgado. Delgado is not all the way back but his numbers at this point in the season are not worth us fans continuing to push for his outright release. In fact, if he keeps this up and he leaves as a Free Agent next year, we can conceivably get Type A comp for him. Projecting his numbers out through the end of this season, he will get 25 - 30 hrs with 90 - 100 rbi. THat is not terrible and is a far cry from a guy who should be given his outright release as many here have promoted.

Omar is the reason we are a competitive team. From his player moves to the eventual timely release of Willie...it is his moves that have produced the possibility for these results. I realize we are feeling good having ripped off 9 in a row and it seems easier to say good job now than it was 2 weeks ago. But credit should be given to the guy at the helm.

I'm a fan Omar. Now please go get us one decent stop gap outfielder and possibly another reliever for the second half of the year!
