Read: Who’s on Second

In a column for MLB.com, Marty Noble notes how the recent success of Damion Easley and Argenis Reyes may keep Luis Castillo on the bench when he is eligible to return from the DL on Thursday.

Jerry Manuel, on who will start at second upon Castillo’s return:

“When the time comes, we’ll make a decision on that and see how it fits. We’re really playing well at that position – I mean, very well. It’s going to be a tough one.”

“I need the [All-Star] break to think about that.”

Since July 1st, Damion Easley is batting .370 with a home run, three strikeouts and nine RBI in 46 at bats.

…i like how jerry plays the hot hand, and why shouldn’t he…’iceman’ easley has proved he deserves regular playing time…

my only argument against that, and it’s a very weak one, is i would much rather have easley’s bat coming off the bench than castillo’s, whom i can never see pinch-hitting unless it was a sacrifice situation…other than that, keep at it damion…
