His OPS+ sits at a less than stellar 93 right now, which is actually only 4 points better than Castillo. Evans has posted excellent numbers at AA and he's really yet to learn to pull the ball- most of his XBH are to the opposite field. For a guy like Owen that relies on command and pitch variation rather than pure stuff, a drop off is to be expected against more advanced hitters. The good news for him is that he continues to develop a solid 4-pitch arsenal, while maintaining a solid K/9 and excellent K/BB (4.0). The only younger pitcher in the EL with a better ERA than Niese is Chris Tillman. He's also second in IP.
