If I’m Knight, screw the Olympics. Isn’t the minimum salary over $100,000 in the MLB now? If he is up for two weeks, he’ll make probably half of his AAA salary. Not only that, he’ll get some more MLB exposure. The Olympics are a crock anyway. The world is very anti-USA right now, which is evident in that they want to eliminate baseball for the 2012 games. We should boycott these games anyway, I know I will.

Yeah I looked again at Davis’s stats I was looking at the wrong thing the first time. But he does only have 1 walk in like 111 plate appearances.

I agree.

Starting him for one fill-in game, taking away his olympic eligibility and knowing he has no future with the team doesn’t seem right to me.

I know the team can do whatever they want and they owe the olympic team nothing, but I’d look for another option.

Well, I’m already developing a mancrush on Wilmer Flores. To have an OPS over 1.000, even as a 16 year-old, even at Kingsport is impressive. The fact is, the top International guy this year was that pitcher Beane paid like $4M for but Omar always seems to find a few young ‘uns that have potential in this market.

ImissPiazza, yes it is possible to have a lower obp than average. The formula for batting average is:

Hits/(Plate Appearances – Walks – Sacrifice)

The Formula for OBP is:
Hits + Walks/(Plate Appearances).

Therefore, it is possible to have a lower OBP than average if you do not have few to no walks, and a decent number of sacrifices, with don’t count against BA, but do count against OBP.

There are a few players who finished a season with such a scenario, but I can’t recall their names.
