Having covered Taschner in the minors, he would be a good addition to the bullpen, though I can't see the Mets adding another lefty.

Only reason I could think of to acquire another lefty is to beat solely the Phillies. Utley, Howard, Dobbs, Jenkins all are worse against lefties. Similarly, perhaps there is a desire to constantly switch Tex & Chipper to the right side.

Just a thought, I agree that there are better use of our resource and more pressing needs on this team.

I also fail to understand why we'd need another lefty reliever. I think if we were to trade for a reliever, what we need is a power arm to bring in when we really need a strikeout, whether lefty or righty. Most of our bullpen, with the exception of Wagner and possibly Heilman, tends to pitch to contact. Street could be that guy, but Beane will ask for way too much.

Well he actually had 4, I just left one in. I wasn't saying ignore them, but from a statistical prospective, his numbers are quite impressive without his bad nights. Still need to take them into consideration when viewing the player as a whole.

In either case, the only thing I can see us needing in the bullpen is another releiver who can get both side of the plate out.

Otherwise, its a matter of managing our bullpen correctly. Willie/Peterson were never able to do this. Judging by Manuel's choices this week, he isn't sure how to do it either. The point I was trying to make above is that our pen really isn't bad.

What the heck happened to Matt Wise? I know he was hurt, but since when is he done for the year? He's probably not the answer anyway, but then again, I'm not sure what the question is since what we really need is a corner OF.

The only thing I can think of is that our releivers could be involved in a potential deal, and Omar is looking to replace him. Otherwise, you're right. It's a story to have a story.

What we really need is outfield help and another bat off the bench. No reason for us to have 3 catchers and Marlon Anderson as a pinch hitter (.203 BA).

If Church comes back, we still need an OF. It's fairly obvious now that F-Mart won't be coming to play at Citi next season. Injuries this year, his age, along with the fact that the logical next step in his progression is another year at AA give me that idea.
