Dolphin stadium is in the middle of nowhere, i def. wouldn't consider that area Miami. The Potential new stadium in downtown Miami around where the Heat play would def. be more energetic and an altogether good place to watch baseball.

All I can say is that F-Mart had better be as good as advertised -- a lot of people on this board seem to think he's the next Ted Williams.

Tucker Ashford hit .340 in the International League, you know.

and you forgot you can throw out runners too and has done a good job doing it. he has thrown out 16 base stealers out of 25. he has been a little suspect in blocking the ball this year, I'll admit that.

and did you expect offense from Brian? that's not what we acquired him for.

Whether it is down the stretch, in the playoffs, or (gulp) the World Series, the bullpen will be the cause of the 2008 Mets demise, just as it was in 2007. After all, it's the same guys that couldn't get it done night after night last year.

It is no coincidence that the Mets began to win when the starters began to go much deeper into games. The current formula for a Mets win is either a blowout or the starter goes at least 8 innings. If they need to get into the pen in the 7th inning or earlier they are toast. It was an absolute lock they wouldn't get 6 outs with a one run lead last night. I didn't think it was possible, but they seem to be getting worse. Lately, they can't even get an out before they blow it.

honestly though, if you are watching the games, though they get themselves in jams, the guys make great pitches when they need to, and yet the opposing hitters ha ve just been able to make enough contact to do damage...How many broken bat bloops have fallen in vs. the pen lately?

Right? You'd think we are 8 games back with 7 to play. You can't win them all. This game showed me that the Marlins are a very "scrappy" team (I hate that word, but its the perfect description for them), and need to be taken seriously. I think that the Mets should be able to handle them by taking advantage of their mental and physical errors, which they did.

Unfortunately, Joe Smith picked a poor time to slump, and the Marlins' batters took advantage. Gotta go back out and get 'em today.

I wish tonight's game wasn't 10 hours away...after a loss like last night I want to bounce right back

I think Omar will get us a bullpen arm come Thursday...and hopefully from there our pen can get it together. They were great against bad teams like the Giants and Rockies...looking at the schedule, we seem to be playing a ton of "bad" teams throughout the majority of August. Now's the time to start pouncing.

Baseball is about winning series. Gotta start making your mark next month especially with a rather tough September slate coming up.

Well, Smith gave up that pop fly double that found a home, and a bleeding grounder up the middle that found a home. I didn't think he pitched that poorly.
