Buzz: Marlins in Serious Talks for Manny
By Matthew Cerrone - Jul 30, 2008 6:48 pm

According to Buster Olney on ESPN.com, “The Red Sox are engaged in serious conversations to trade Manny Ramirez to the Florida Marlins, as well as other teams.”

Naturally, according to MLB.com, Ramirez spotted Olney’s report while walking by a TV in the clubhouse prior to tonight’s game, and begin sarcastically hugging people goodbye.

Update6:57 pm

Meanwhile, according John Perrotto of Baseball Prospectus, citing ‘multiple baseball sources,’ the Red Sox are ‘on the verge’ of sending Ramirez to the Marlins in exchange for three players, including OF Mike Stanton.

enter your, Mike Stanton the old relief pitcher joke here

Update7:10 pm

In a post to ESPN.com, Jason Stark writes, “Officials from several teams theorized Wednesday that if the Red Sox trade away Manny, they would target Jason Bay as a right-handed bat to replace him.”

Update7:20 pm

…i guess the idea here, from what stark is suggesting, would be Bay to the Red Sox, Ramirez to the Marlins, and, i assume, prospects from both to the Pirates

…interestingly, Mark Healey made this very suggestion for the Mets earlier in the week on Gotham Baseball Magazine…of course, such a deal would needed to have included Fernando Martinez and Jon Niese, and so, you know how that goes

For what it’s worth, according to a poll on MetsBlog.com, 86 percent of people who responded said they would not trade Martinez and Niese in a deal for Ramirez.

Update7:52 pm

Earlier on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight, Peter Gammons said, after having talked with people close to the Red Sox, he is convinced that ‘this thing with the Marlins’ and Ramirez will happen.

As Gammons pointed out, the Red Sox won a World Series after letting go of Nomar Garciaparra, they won a World Series after letting go of Pedro Martinez, and they believe they can win a World Series without Ramirez.

Later, also on Baseball Tonight, Buster Olney said, ‘The divorce is coming, and both sides realize that.’

Update8:20 pm

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Marlins OF Jeremy Hermida would likely end up with the Pirates, in such a three-team deal between the Red Sox and Marlins involving Bay and Ramirez.

This stinks… the Marlins have what it takes for Manny but we don’t?

    • Church4prez says:

Manny will be traded. He disrespected the owner and the fans have had it with him. They have won 2 in 4 years and don;t have to win this year. He is gone and prob to this division

    • Gina says:

Of course the marlins do they just traded away two of their best players and got a boat load of prospects. Why wouldn’t they have a better shot at landing him than we do?

      • dwright012 says:

Uh.. they;re not trading Miller or Maybin to the Sox.. so that has nothing to do with it

        • Gina says:

The point is they always have a packed farm system because they’re always trading away stars. It shouldn’t be a surprise that they have what it takes to get Ramirez and we don’t.

        • Gina says:

And according to mlbtraderumors Mike Stanton is part of the deal. I’m 99% sure we don’t have any 18 year olds in A ball with .920 OPS. I think we would have heard of them by now.

        • dwright012 says:

Who cares.. at 18 he could be anything.. the fact that the mets refuse to re-stock the draft using their payroll is as insane as letting Manny go to their division rival

The life of a tortured mets fan.. will piss away a scott kazmir when we have no chance, but wont get a Manny Ramirez when we do have one.

There is no defense for allowing this to go on.

        • Gina says:

We haven’t heard first round picks for a while, until this year, but I do agree they could do much better in the draft than they have.

        • dwright012 says:

I mean that’s where it all starts… we spend a little more.. then it’s not a list of two or three guys that teams want.. and 86% of fans wouldn’t be against trading some of them to get a HOF left fieler

very frustrating too me….esp when a small market team like the Marlins can pull it off..

I see both sides and I really enjoy watching home grown players more then FAs.. but man.. I want this division sooooooooo bad

        • dwright012 says:

bye bye 1st place.. what did that last, less then a week?

          nice

  2. Santana57 says:

No matter how many closed door discussions the Red Sox have with other teams, Manny will not be traded. Final.

I think the Mets should go out there and trade Schoeneweis and Carp for Carlos Guillen.

Ship Evans and prospects to the Pirates for Garbow.

    • 911nafstem says:

Seriously, and the reason it’s so annoying is because we have to hear clowns bitch about it until the trade deadline ends

    • darkstar73 says:

carlos guillen? or do you mean jose guillen? if you mean jose, i hope you’re joking, because he’s having a bad season, I have no idea why his name is ever mentioned, PLUS, he has a 3 year deal. Are you people crazy? He has a .287 OBP right now or something, stop it, just stop it.

  3. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

manny is not going anywhere for the millionth tiime

  4. toomanyuniforms says:

    Bring him on.

  5. BJCHNIC says:

4 p.m. deadline…please. Do they really expect us to believe that?

  6. Church4prez says:

Last game of the season and it;s manny vs. Wagner with 2 men on and 2 out with the division on the line. Who is gonna win that battle? we all know

    • toomanyuniforms says:

If your computer is in the shop, we do.

    • therealsince86 says:

Never mind the fact that Manny has a .091 BA against Wagner. But we know you don’t like stats.

      • Church4prez says:

O thats wonderful and Wagner will choke in every big spot we have and thats that stat that i care about

        • Midtown says:

And what stat is that, exactly? PPCIBS (Percentage that a Pitcher Chokes In a Big Spot)? Because that doesn’t exist.

          Go back to sleep.

  7. therealsince86 says:

I like the Washburn idea. Get Washburn to lower the price of Ibanez. Something like Parnell for both of them.

    • Church4prez says:

We can’t cause Parnell is going to be a hall of famer according to Omar.

      • therealsince86 says:

Omar never said that. He said that he would not trade him for garbage.

        • Church4prez says:

How is parnell and murphy and kunz and neise and these guys “untouchables”? they have never proven anything

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Have you negotiated for anything in your life? Maybe an extra cupcake?

        • Church4prez says:

5:56pm: Baseball Prospectus’ John Perrotto has multiple baseball sources saying the Red Sox are on the verge of sending Ramirez to Florida for three players, including outfielder Mike Stanton.

          FIRE OMAR

        • toomanyuniforms says:

          For not drafting Mike Stanton?

        • Gina says:

For not trading away one of the many 18 year old’s we have in A ball with .900+ OPS’s. Since you know, we’re rolling in them.

  8. FelixMillan says:

I’d be shocked if the Marlins took on Manny’s contract. Would that double their payroll?

    • Church4prez says:

5:56pm: Baseball Prospectus’ John Perrotto has multiple baseball sources saying the Red Sox are on the verge of sending Ramirez to Florida for three players, including outfielder Mike Stanton.

  9. shea_guevara says:

I posted both of these in the Jason Bay thread, but just to reiterate, this comes from WCBV, Boston’s ABC affiliate:

“The Boston Red Sox plan to pick up Manny Ramirez’s $20 million option and will try to trade him in November, unless the team is blown away by a blockbuster offer before the deadline.

“Sources told SportsCenter 5’s Mike Lynch that the Sox will try to prevent Ramirez from signing with the New York Yankees or another rival as a free agent.”

And from Gordon Edes’ Sox blog in the Boston Globe:

“If anything, you should prepare for the likelihood that whatever the Sox do, it will be relatively minor in nature. Manny Ramirez may have told Jerry Remy he wants to be traded and hopes to find peace, but Manny’s tranquility is not a high priority for the Sox these days. They expect to weather this storm, as they have others, and hope that when Friday rolls around, Manny will be sufficiently motivated to play hard–if not for the Olde Towne Team, then for his next contract.

“The Manny rumors are still out there–you had Pedro lobbying for Manny coming to the Mets, and the Manny-to-the-Marlins speculation that would never have gotten started except that the Sox reportedly have said they’ll pick up his money for the balance of the season. Dodgers? Nope. Phils? Nope. Sox owner John W. Henry and Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria are great pals, at least the last time I checked, but I can’t see JWH making such a trade for his fantasy team, never mind the real thing.

“Hey, you never say never, but what I’m hearing this afternoon in the Fens is not to expect anything.”

  10. whatdatmean says:

    ummm…this could get done
    willingham/hermida + 1-2 prospects, maybe + a RP
they definately have the tools to do this

instant problem for us if this happens

    OF-manny, maybin, willingham/hermida
    IF-cantu, hanley, uggla, jacobs
SP-johnson, nolasco, olsen, sanchez, volstad, + miller
they are deep and tough, granted their defense is terrible…they will be a force to deal with

    yikes

omar….get on it…we dont want the phils, marlin, or dodgers getting a hold of this guy…
send them what they want[outside of fmart, kunz, and flores]

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

even if omar doesnt get manny, if he can somehow make sure the phils and marlins either dont get him or give up WAY too much for him than hes done his job.

      • Church4prez says:

5:56pm: Baseball Prospectus’ John Perrotto has multiple baseball sources saying the Red Sox are on the verge of sending Ramirez to Florida for three players, including outfielder Mike Stanton.

        wonderful

    • therealsince86 says:

Actually I couldn’t careless if these guys get Manny. The Dodgers need a lot more than that. The Marlins will still not be able to play defense or get timely pitching and the Phillies are going to score either way, it’s their pitching.

    • shea_guevara says:

Phils are not getting him. They have nothing the Sox want.

Dodgers are not getting him. Their front office is schizo and can’t get out of its own way. They’ve been trying to get a SS for months and have gotten nowhere.

Marlins are not getting him. Neither Hermida nor Willingham would provide them with what they’d need in Manny’s absence: protection for David Ortiz.

The Sox won’t trade Manny now. If they do, he essentially becomes a free agent at the end of the year and signs with the Yankees, or the Rays, or another AL rival. If they keep him until the end of the year and pick up his option, they can trade him over the winter to a suitor of their choosing.

I would be shocked if Manny went anywhere. And I would be even more shocked if he went to a team with a $20 million payroll.

      • dwright012 says:

        Prepare to be shocked

      • Church4prez says:

5:56pm: Baseball Prospectus’ John Perrotto has multiple baseball sources saying the Red Sox are on the verge of sending Ramirez to Florida for three players, including outfielder Mike Stanton.

        you wrrong

  11. mookie says:

Manny may be a better hitter at this point but I would say that Fernando Martinez is a way better fielder with a strong arm. I think Martinez will manage to average 20hr, 100rbi’s while .300ba. I’m willing to risk having him stay here because by 2010 him, wright, reyes , pelfry, beltran, maine, and santana can all hit their peak at the same time and be one hell of a scary team.
Because we signed, wright, reyes, Martinez and pelfry on the cheap side we will still be able to afford a couple of free agents and make us a very scary team for a few years.
If we want to win a world series this year we need relievers and thats it. I think tatis will hold true. I would be happy if tatis can maintain a .280 average from now till the end of the season. LIke pelfrey we need to give this kid time.

  12. MetfaninFL says:

I don’t understand why everyone is worrying about Ramirez coming to this division. Its not like any of the teams are giving up exclusively minor league talent for him. Either PHI gives up Burrell or FLA gives up Hermida or Willingham. In one case Burrell is a bigtime Met killer and has comperable numbers to Ramirez in terms of HR and RBI considering Burrell has many more power hitters who clear the bases in his lineup. If Manny goes to the Marlins they instantly become even more RH than before by either giving up Hermida or putting Manny in Hermida’s place. So any team can just walk Manny and not worry about having to play matchups with the rest of the lineup. I’m not saying that Manny isn’t good and won’t be a productive player but I don’t think the trade for him will be as big a shift as say the Johan Santana trade was. Phils and Marlins fans were both scared the day we got Johan. I have to say even if Manny goes to one of them I’m a little more worried but not immediately ready to write off the season.

  13. bvaz says:

do people really think Manny is going to get traded?
how many times do you need to be fooled?
btw, if a deal was imminent, he wouldn’t be in the lineup.
another thing. do people really thin Manny is going to waive his no trade clause to go play for the Marlins? seriously? HA

    • Church4prez says:

5:56pm: Baseball Prospectus’ John Perrotto has multiple baseball sources saying the Red Sox are on the verge of sending Ramirez to Florida for three players, including outfielder Mike Stanton. Manny has been pulled

      • bvaz says:

is he pulled? I have the3 sox on but haven’t noticed if manny is in the lineup.
        youk is batting 2nd.

dude. manny is on deck. report is wrong. I now you are just reporting what was on here but trust me. manny is on my tv

        • dwright012 says:

correct Manny has not been pulled

        • bvaz says:

he grounded out to 3rd in case anyone cares. :)

        • shea_guevara says:

According to MLB gameday, he’s in the lineup. If a deal was anywhere close to being done, he would not be in the lineup.

        • bvaz says:

thank you. finally someone who is logical.
maybe he does get traded but having lived in Boston since long before manny even stepped foot in town, I’d be absolutely shocked if manny approved a trade to the marlins.
I’ve been wrong before, but I would be shocked.

      • jbinva says:

He hasn’t been pulled. He’s in the lineup batting cleanup. In fact, he’s batting as I type this.

      • kbh218 says:

        Manny is on deck.

  14. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

what is manny thinking if he waives his no trade clause to the marlins? do the marlins think they are going to win the division with manny, because last time i checked they have no pitching

    • dwright012 says:

no pitching? They actually do have pitching…Nolasco, Olsen, Johnson?

      That doesn’t count?

      • Church4prez says:

        anibal sanchez volstad?

        • dwright012 says:

Andrew Miller, Kevin Gregg, Lindstrom has 12 scoreless innings going

        • Church4prez says:

forgot about miller. This team is going to the playoffs if they get him. They are good ownership. Much better than the Wilpons cause they have won 2 titles and want to go for it now

        • Nightlife says:

Anibal Sanchez hasn’t pitched in over a year and has under 150 IP in his career. To think he is going to make an impact s kind of ridiculous.

And as a whole, yes, the Marlins pitching sucks.

      • Coolpapabell says:

Just put the ball in play with these guys. The ball will find a hole……….in about 9 gloves.

  15. letsgomets942 says:

Omar needs to make a push for Manny. If he goes to the Phillies or the Marlins this would be a big mistake in my opinion. My next choice would be Dunn followed by Ibanez. But, still Manny is the guy I really want. Just my opinion.

    • letsgomets942 says:

Bay would also be nice I forgot about him. But, still MANNY,MANNY,MANNY is the man!

  16. Coolpapabell says:

This is wonderful. Hit the ball to LF and warm up the popcorn because the circus will be in town. If the Marlins weren’t already one of the worst fielding teams in baseball………..

Its going to be so amusing seeing him field in that big outfield. Frankly I would be more worried if he went to the Phillies. I really don’t see the Marlins actually resigning him, and they just lost three prospects……….however, they did get themselves two draft choices.

I wonder what prospects are invovled. I bet they got a few pitchers. The Marlins have a bunch in the minors. oh and Maybin is a K machine so I am sure Theo wasn’t hankering for him.

  17. Nightlife says:

If this does happen I could care less because the Marlins need pitching much more than they need hitting. Adding Manny will add a lot to any offense, but that isn’t going to make up their negative run differential.

  18. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Isn’t Hermida one of the players in the deal? Why haven’t they taken him out yet?

  19. Constnza81V2.0 says:

If the Marlins pull this off, so be it. We control our own destiny right now. Can’t lose sight of that.

  20. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

agree with a poster above, manny would not be playing tonight if a deal was as close as people are reporting it is

  21. jbinva says:

Oh noes, the fish maybe getting Manny! What next, Phils signing Bonds? We iz so screwed!

Seriously, Manny is a good offensive player now. That’s all. He’s not the Manny he used to be.

  22. letsgomets942 says:

This really scks! I just waiting for Willingham or Hermida to get pulled from the game! That would be horrible! I really need to see someone come are way to make me feel better. The Yanks get Pudge after already getting Nady and Marte, Marlins get Manny.
I don’t like it at all!!

  23. njbaseball24 says:

isn’t it funny that they trade Cabrera away and then try to bring in a guy that is just as lazy as he was…

  24. Coolpapabell says:

In case you are scoring at home
Baseball Prospectus’ top 11 prospects for the Marlins

Not too manny OF on there.

  25. Church4prez says:

Now a 3 way deal with bay involved is reported. the mets cant get involved in a 3 way?

    • BeatWritersSuck says:

you are an idiot someone should put you in a looney bin

    • Coolpapabell says:

That makes a boat load of sense. The Pirates walk away with Hermida, and two pitching propsects. Bosox Bay, and Marlins Manny.

  26. bvaz says:

ok. my last point on why I think this trade makes no sense.
say Boston loses tonight. they’ll be 4 losses back of the Rays, 1 loss back of the Twins and tied with the yanks in the loss column. I just don’t see them trading Manny.

now, say Florida losses tonight. they will be 3 losses back of the Mets. definitely can catch the Mets AND Phillies by the way but do you increase your payroll by 60% (or whatever it would be)?

again, will Manny approve a trade to the Marlins?

    • imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

that is what im saying, and were the marlins part of his pre sign offs because if not he cant go to the marlins due to a 24 hour process of his no trade clause

      • bvaz says:

btw, I didn’t think there was a chance in hell that the Sox would trade Nomar in 2004 so they have shocked me before.

  27. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

Under this scenario, Ramirez would go to the Marlins, while Jeremy Hermida would go to the Pirates, and Jason Bay would go to the Red Sox.

    this if from mlb.com

no prospects? are you kidding me

    • Church4prez says:

Omar is too busy opening a dominican camp for more prospects

    • Gina says:

Hermida isn’t a prospect anymore but he was pretty highly regarded coming up, he’s a high upside player who can fill in for the pirates right now.

    • shea_guevara says:

FWIW, Bay is in the Pirates’ lineup tonight. That says to me that no deal is close.

  28. playmaker3128 says:

Let the marlins get manny. Both of them are good offensive teams, adding manny would just be adding more of what they have. Getting manny would make their defense even worse than it is now (and its horrible). Their pitching while decent, still isn’t overly great.

Pitching is what wins, especially come playoff time. With the way our starting staff has performed this year, imo were a good reliever away from having a consistent pitching staff top to bottom. If we can find one of those idc what the other teams do, i’d think we’d have a leg up.

  29. Mingo says:

Manny doesn’t care where he plays this year. He knows the Marlins won’t re-sign him so he will be a free agent. Nothing we trade for him will be worth a two month rental. Stand pat on this, go after some other guy to fill the gap and bolster the bullpen.
By the way, the Marlins don’t have problems scoring runs, Manny doesn’t do much to help them.
Now for a cheap team who needs young players for their future, I think this is stupid. They may be going for it this year, but Manny won’t make them win it, only a pitcher will.
My guess is they are going for him to keep the Mets and Phillies from getting him.

  30. metmanb says:

i think if the marlins get manny we need dunn. match power with power. Dilute the power of the marlins

  31. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Why haven’t the Marlins pulled Hermida yet? Even if the trade is not done yet your might be risking a lot keeping him in there. Hermida is kind of injury prone.

    • shea_guevara says:

      Because he’s not getting traded?

If I’m the Marlins, I wouldn’t trade a young, cheap player with enormous upside who I control for several years to get a two-month rental, no matter how good that rental is.

      • huge_mets_fan11 says:

Yup, totally agree, just saying everyone is reporting the trade is “close” so why not pull him even if the trade is not yet completed?

    • bvaz says:

maybe because they are 2 games out of 1st place.
I’m just as guilty but people are forgetting that tonight’s game is fairly important in the division race.

      • huge_mets_fan11 says:

But if (I know it is a big if) Hermida gets injured that will hurt any chance they have of getting Manny or even winning the division.

  32. Church4prez says:

    # The Yankees have been getting calls on Carl Pavano. One unconfirmed rumor has the Mets interested.
    BBPROSPECTUS.

    lolololo FIRE OMAR

  33. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Btw, Heyman still saying Phils are in the Manny sweepstakes.

  34. metphan says:

THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN CALLING FOR!!

MARTINEZ AND NIESE TO PITTSBURGH, BAY TO BOSTON, MANNY TO METS.

The fact that 86% of respondents on this site wouldnt make the deal only means it should be done.

    • mrose says:

ummm why is that? because you know more than all of us? I tend to think more than just this site would disagree

      • metphan says:

Most people didn’t want Willie gone either.

        • mrose says:

umm really? do you remember the latest willie poll dude? This is on a slightly different level…this is about trading some future players for a guy who might help 2 months… firing willie was a matter of money and pride

don’t flatter yourself, you are not a genius

  35. bkfitz says:

Too bad we can’t get Manny.

  36. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

marlins gm just canceled appearance on marlins feed because of “meetings”

  37. MetsFan21 says:

Manny Ramirez to the Marlins? Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright… As if Man-Ram will approve that deal as a 10-5 player. The Marlins are smoking too much to think they will make a run to the playoffs. Why would Manny Ramirez approve a trade to Florida when he is all but certain to go to the playoffs as a Redsox and do some serious damage. That is unless Ramirez gets flipped to a third team much like the speculation is regarding the Redsox flipping those 3 players for Jason Bay.

    • Because Manny couldn’t care less where he plays this year. He has 2 rings and a WS MVP, and he has no guaranteed money after ‘08. He wants to get out of Boston, relax (which you can certainly do in Miami, I’m sure that’s right up Manny’s alley) and get a big FA deal that will at least pull more than 40mil in guaranteed cash, thereby beating his current options. That’s all he wants.

  38. Just go get him, now. I haven’t really been behind the whole Manny push 100%, but at this point, the only scenario in which I saw us getting Manny is now being played out, by someone else, that is the 3-way with team 3 getting a collection of prospects. If this was LA close to the edge with Manny, that’s one thing, but in this situation, that is a team that is pulling on our coattails on the verge of getting him, the positives of Manny outweigh the negatives. So it’s a 2-month rental; if anyone can sign him as a FA, we can, and if that rental nets us a division title and a series run so be it. I’d deal F-Mart in a heartbeat right now.

  39. All this as the Marlins get to Pelf….

    • wrightstuff08 says:

i think people are really stupid on here if they think the Marlins cant win this division with or without Manny!! The Mets have a slight lead over 2 very competitive teams and the Marlins are showing tonight they arent scared of these big bad Mets. Omar needs to acquire a reliever and a bat before the deadline. Also, the old pop gun Mets offense looks like it is back.

  40. And in other news, the Astros continue to be the most braindead franchise this side of Jim Dolan, having just acquired LaTroy Hawkins, sitting in double digits out of their division and the WC. This comes just after their trading for Randy Wolf…
    WWHHHYYYYYY?????

    • Nate W. says:

Thier pitching staff is so short they need just about any warm body they can find.

      • No, they need to trade Oswalt, trade Valverde, trade Lee, trade Tejada, and trade everyone else, because they have no outside shot at competing.

    adam dunnnn hr

  42. Nate W. says:

The thought of a Willingham, Ross, Ramirez OF must have Jose Reyes licking his chops. That ballpark is already a triples haven.

If the Marlins make this trade they should insist on Willingham leaving and not Hermida.

  43. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

Jayson Stark says the Red Sox are trying to get Stanton, Ryan Tucker, and one of Willingham/Hermida for Ramirez.

  44. mrmustseetv says:

Why the hell are we not in on the Manny Ramirez discussion? Are we really going to let the damn Marlins land him?

Look, I’m sure Omar is trying to land reinforcements, but only Fernando Martinez should be untouchable.

If Omar hasn’t picked up the phone and offered Jon Niese, Dan Murphy and Eddie Kunz for Manny or something along those lines, then I’m disappointed in Omar.

    Niese is a #4 starter.

Murphy is more of a DH.

Kunz may be a closer, but his walks may also mean he’s more of a middle reliever.

    UGH!

  45. Nightlife says:

Hey guys remember this winter when BP reported Santana to the Red Sox as a “done deal” at one point?

  46. I find it laughable that some people are deluding themselves into thinking that Manny to the Marlins is a good thing because of how it affects their OF defense. You’ve got to be kidding me. Manny isn’t the worst outfielder on earth, and the addition of his bat makes their lineup so good it’s scary.

  47. The “oh wait, this isn’t quite a done deal” buzz is building, though….

    • wrightstuff08 says:

lol, i guess most Met fans think that because they are in first place now, that we cant possibly lose it to the Philthies or Marlins. Omar must show that he deserves to get a contract extension and make a smart trade.

  48. tatislover17 says:

JUST OFFER FERNANDO MARTINEZ AND GET MANNY. THIS KID HAS ALEX ESCOBAR WRITTEN ALL OVER HIM. HE IS ALWAYS HURT. ALL OF A SUDDEN NOW OMAR CARES ABOUT THE PROSPECTS? GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK.

MANNY IS NOT WHITE. HE IS OMAR’S FAVORITE KIND OF PLAYER.

  49. Nightlife says:

Can we all just have a hearty LOL together at Ed Wade and the Astros who traded a prospect and cash to acquire Latroy Hawkins. Ed Wade, never change man, never change.

  50. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

this team would be mistaken if they do not make any type of deal by tomorrow

  51. playmaker3128 says:

If we don’t make a deal by tommarow i’m not gonna flip out, however if not that must mean omar believes we have some talent that might be ready to contribute. So i want to see one or two of them get a chance.

Bring up kunz for muniz, low risk high reward type, and maybe give fmart or muphy a couple AB’s.

  52. No Play For Mr. Gray says:

Manny Ramirez isn’t going anywhere. He requests a trade like twice a year. I’m sure ESPN doesn’t mind stirring the pot, though, so they can talk about their beloved Red Sox some more.

    did I miss something??
