Health: John Maine is Back, May be Skipped
By Matthew Cerrone - Jul 31, 2008 7:07 am

Jerry Manuel told reporters that John Maine will rejoin the team in Houston today, and though he could make his next start, it is more likely the team will skip him at least once through the rotation.

Earlier this week, Maine traveled to New York to get an MRI on his right shoulder, which revealed a mild strain in his rotator cuff.

According to Adam Rubin in the Daily News, Oliver Perez will likely start on Sunday in place of Maine, who could return to the rotation as soon as Tuesday in Shea Stadium.

this scares me. I have a feeling this isn’t going to go away, and might even put him out for an extended period of time. I really hope i’m wrong…

Yeah, we’ll find out the actual news a minute or so after the trade deadline.

It’s hard not to be scared when you hear pitcher and rotator cuff injury.

Correct gina! And with this organization’s inability to let injured player’s heal, Maine will probably be put in position to blow his arm out completely.

They arent even really skipping him so much as just moving him to the end of the line.

If they want they can hold off on Maine until Friday the 8th rather than Tuesday the 5th. So that is a good sign. If they were more concerned they wouldnt even think of bringing him back when there are other options.

bigchart, you are a pessimist, honestly, take that lightly,

So then Manuel will have to find a way to put Maine back between Santana and Perez later in the year.

GUYS, CALM DOWN, you are overreacting like when they lost to the phillies, honestly, look, he can make the start, at the worst case, he would skip one start, and he starts tuesday, is that so bad.
