Health: Ryan Church will Travel to Houston
By Matthew Cerrone - Jul 31, 2008 7:04 am

Mets OF Ryan Church will travel with the team to Houston to continue workouts under the watchful eye of the team’s medical staff.

…both church and the team are telling reporters that this is a good thing, because it allows him to stay on schedule and keep his workout routine consistent…that said, the buzz from shea suggests that church will remain on the disabled list through the next week or so

Well damn – I was hoping for sooner rather than later…

    Get well, Ryan.

take care churchie, this division is going to be close all the way to the end, we will need him more late august and September

  3. RodKanehl says:

Since the Mets FO has \done nothing but lie about Church, why is this suddenly believable?

oh boy…here comes another plane ride.

First they mess with Church’s head, now they mess with ours. Anybody else get the feeling that we’re never going to see this guy play again this year?? How many times do we have to read that he’s “about a week away or so.” The organization totally fouled up this injury.

  6. Bruce Boisclair says:

They may have fouled up the injury, but they are taking their time getting him back. I think they are now handling him very conservatively– knowing that they need him at full strength for the stretch run. Lest we forget that if we get him back healthy (which is still an open question), it is like acquiring a major piece in a trade.

Here’s the thing with Church: With the number of false starts we’ve had with him, I think both he and the front office know that the next time he “comes back,” it has got to be for real, and for good. If Church leaves another game for any head-related reason, he will not only be done for the year, but many will jump to the conclusion that he is permanently damaged goods, and people will be calling for his trade or release.

Ryan’s career is on the line, not to mention, quite possibly, his life. They’ve got to get this one right. There is no margin for error anymore.
