Here's the thing with Church: With the number of false starts we've had with him, I think both he and the front office know that the next time he "comes back," it has got to be for real, and for good. If Church leaves another game for any head-related reason, he will not only be done for the year, but many will jump to the conclusion that he is permanently damaged goods, and people will be calling for his trade or release.

Ryan's career is on the line, not to mention, quite possibly, his life. They've got to get this one right. There is no margin for error anymore.

They may have fouled up the injury, but they are taking their time getting him back. I think they are now handling him very conservatively-- knowing that they need him at full strength for the stretch run. Lest we forget that if we get him back healthy (which is still an open question), it is like acquiring a major piece in a trade.

First they mess with Church's head, now they mess with ours. Anybody else get the feeling that we're never going to see this guy play again this year?? How many times do we have to read that he's "about a week away or so." The organization totally fouled up this injury.

Since the Mets FO has \done nothing but lie about Church, why is this suddenly believable?
