    Didn’t they mean stiff neck?

  2. Gina says:

    God we’re like falling apart.

These last two months i hope they are it for us and Billy. I have had my fill. I say we trade him or hopefully he retires in the off-season, Make a big push for K-ROD. Trade Carlos Beltran for a Aaron Rowand (Good fielder, Nice Bat, clubhouse guy) and a good arm out of the pen. Maybe we don’t have the power but we are safer at the end of games and we get the “hard-nosed gamer” that we need. Wags is the worst it like a Phillie killing us from the inside!

How exactly does one’s forearm become stiff by the way?

  4. bkfitz says:

Hopefully there won’t be a save situation.

Is it just me or is Wagner “injured” everytime he blows a save?
Maybe he is taking his September stint in August this season.

I think they have to really give Freddy Garcia a look.

Well I guess we get to see our future. I think the Mets plans are to use Kunz as the closer once Wagner’s contract ends. On the bright side, I guess the rookies wont be so nervous considering they will have a couple of fellow b-mets on the big league club roster at the end of the week (Evans, Murphy, Kunz and Niese).

  9. MetfaninFL says:

Thank God we are playing in Houston, the closest NL city to New Orleans. I shutter to think what would happen if we were in San Francisco or LA today. We would be about 4 people short if we weren’t so close to NO.

  10. MetsFan4Decades says:

Maine on the DL wasn’t completely unexpected. Hopefully, he’ll just miss those 2 starts.
Now Wagner possibly injured? The injuries on this team are just unbelievable this year. You just can’t make this stuff up.

I believe the only two positional players not injured this year, or not recovering from injuries and/or surgery end of last year - has been Reyes and Wright. Add Pedro, Maine, Wagner and a couple of other relievers (Weis) to that list.

And a big knock on wood here we don’t add Reyes & Wright o this ever growing list….

just keep the good news coming…..

  12. Flushing_is_Burning says:

maybe i don’t know too much about other teams, but is this Mets team cursed with the worst injury woes ever?

  13. 911nafstem says:

Do what you do best this off-season, Omar, spend money, Tex and KRod or bust. You’ll have Pedro, Delgado, and probably Ollie’s salaries off the books, a new stadium, you can do it!

    • Gina says:

We need to add two starters. I’d imagine that’s going to take up most of the money coming off the books.

      • 911nafstem says:

Why? The starting pitching is probably the greatest strength of the team

        • Gina says:

Because we’ll have 2 empty rotation spots?

        • Gina says:

Also, right now Perez is probably our second best starter and he’ll be gone, and if we bring him back we’re looking at shelling out at least 15 million per.

        • 911nafstem says:

Hate to tell ya, but knowing the Mets, they’ll fill one of those slots with Niese and the other one with a Livan Hernandez-type retread.

        • Gina says:

If they’re not going to spend on starters why would they spend on Tex, who’s contract demands are ridiculous, or K-rod, who’s going to want a similar contract to Wagner’s.

        • 911nafstem says:

because the Mets don’t have someone in their farm who they can sell as a replacement for Delgado and I’ve read that Omar is in love with KRod

        • Gina says:

I have more faith in some sort of Evans/Murphy platoon at first than I do in Niese in the rotation next year. And what does it matter if Omar’s in love with him, why would the Wilpons sign off on paying two pitchers closer money?

Not to mention if we have Livan Hernandez and Niese filling out to rotation spots next year it really won’t matter who our set-up man is or our first basemen, we won’t be going very far.

  14. metsforlife says:

Garcia? Livan? Omar get some bodies in here! Now! I don’t know what RP are available yet?? Also, I think Lopez and Monroe should be looked at.
This is why I was so upset that we did not make any trades at the deadline. I really hope these prospects can get the job done. If not Omar is going to look real bad here. With so many ? marks now, Church, Maine, Wagner, Pedro, Castillo, Castro leaving yesterday.
Oh boy I feel a little sick!!

    • Gina says:

I don’t see how it would make sense to go all in on one player, and with the asking prices that’s pretty much all we could have done, when our team has so many holes.

    • dave27 says:

I’d pick up Livan as a fill-in…could be decent at big Shea.

Let’s take advantage of being behind the Marilins and Phillies and unable to be blocked by them!

  15. The Slider says:

Boy, the news just keeps getting better and better for the Amazins.

  16. Don’t be so doom and gloom, besides Billy going back to NY, they needed to get another arm in the pen. Putting Maine on the DL retroactive gets them the extra arm now in Kunz and they needed a sixth starter for Monday’s makeup anyway. Now you slot in Niese over the weekend and move back the rest of the guys and Maine pitches Tuesday. This is not a disaster. Hopefully Billy is ok (I can’t believe I said that)

  17. dave56dj says:

are we cursed in jury wise….nope not even close: check out the yanks:

    matsui - gone
    posoda - gone
    hughes gone
arod - was out 4 weeks
    kennedy - hurt
    wang - gone
    bruney - just getting back

they lost their ace their left fielder their catcher their 4 and 5 spot guys (although both were struggling) arod for a period and their 7th inning guy.

certainly our injuries are not good but you can’t sy omar should have foresaw maine and wags going down, if they in fact to go down.

    lets get a win today.

how was he sent back to NY when he is in the dugout?
