you see how Omar doesnt think? desperate to fill a hole at second base but he didnt need to sign Castillo to that dumb contract. and with Hudson (back-to-back gold glove years, hitting .300) going to be a free agent it appears Omar was too impatient!!

I must admit that I am surprised that o-dog would seriously ask for such $17M. I have read that he wants something in the $14-15M range. I also read that he was looking towards the Mets and was willing to give the a discount. I believe that was from Jayson Stark.

I would give O-dog a $10-11M over three to four years. O-dogs range is way better than Castillo's is a this point in their careers. I don't think Dunn's glove will play at Citi and Tex is going to the Yankees.

I say go the Defense and Pitching route. With a healthy Church in right, We can get by with a platoon situation in LF if we have solid enough pitching. Niese is to valuable but I feel that Parnell should go.

I feel it might be worth our while to wait for the 2010 off seawson with Holiday.

Well, based on the contract the Mets were willing to give Castillo, Garcia must be licking his chops. I read a post on this blog at a different thread that Castillo's salary next year is higher than DWight's and Jose Reyes? If that's true (Too lazy to look it up) then it's a total joke. A Gimpy, Pre-Maturely over the hill "slap" hitter making more than two ALL-STARs? Unbelievable.................................... Speachless.

i think you know, signing ollie would be the smartest move that omar would make, if he was still the general manager, the thing is, that im hoping that it is somewhere along the line of 5 years 60 mil, bargain and i think ollie found it, really, i mean he pitched out of jams in houston, it was tough luck. do you know that scott boras refused to save a kid that was drowning cuz he couldnt swim until his grandmother payed 30 mill, then he bargained and said pay 10 mil and the rest later, then he was rescued by a tuna boat. true story, that guy makes me sick

If Orlando Hudson's contract demands are close to what's being reported, 17 per. Then I'd rather have Castillo, at least we can eat the last few years of Castillo's contract. Hudson's defense isn't better, he's the same age, and his bat in my opinion would be an upgrade but not a difference maker in this line-up. I'd rather spend that money on pitching and going after a power bat like Dunn, or Tex depending on the contract demands, or trading for one. If they fill the holes in the rotation with free agents then they can afford to trade guys like Niese or Parnell for a big bat IMO.

What pitching free agent is just as effective of a pitcher and going to be asking less. When you factor in talent, contract demands, and age/injury risk IMO Perez is the best choice on the free agent market.
