"The portion that is donated would be deductible IF you itemize your deductions. Since like 94% of Americans didn’t itemize in 2006 (2007 numbers aren’t out yet), the answer will be, as short as possible, no."

You should just stop after the first sentence. The question was whether it would be considered a tax write off - to which the answer is "yes". It's a considerable enough amount to claim separately on the return (unless you're making a ton of money). Whether the person is smart enough to claim it is a whole other story...

Ofcourse they could have also said that it's $86.69 per seat or would that be too low?

Maybe you *should* have an opinion on this, Matt.

That you have turned being a Mets fan into a profession is remarkable (and admirable), but speaking up against the Mets' escalating prices (even if you don't pay them yourself) wouldn't be a bad thing to do.

I envy those whose tickets are cheaper. My group has seats in Loge section four, behind home plate (not boxes). We've been offered something in the Excelsior level, close to third base. Our ticket prices will go from an average of 46 dollars per seat to 115 dollars per seat. More than twice as much. I'm not happy.

I have the sunday package and was wondering if I am going to be able to purchase the seats? If any season ticket holder would be kind enough to bless me with his seats if they do not come available that would be oh so appreciated.

I'm not offended, mrose, despite the fact that you're trying to offend me (panties in a bunch, eh?).

But here's a ticket from this year:

Mets vs. Cardinals, game 52. July 26. A gold game, according to my schedule. Field box 235, section C, seat 5. $89.

So, you know, extrapolate down for the bronze, silver and value-priced games. I believe they go down as far as $72 for the bronze, but I don't know about the value because no Saturday games are ever value-priced.
