The thing about Beltran is he doesn't take his poor hitting out onto the field. He still plays a Gold Glove caliber center field.

This team obviously needs him to come around. We are going nowhere without him. Is the lineup out yet? Wouldn't be shocked if he had the day off.

I posted this in an early post this morning:

DNL interviewed him last night on their show. Was pretty funny. He explained how Gary Busey wound up in his commercial - which was not planned. Said he was next door getting pizza, came in, saw the commercial being filmed, went over to the director and wormed his way in.
Was ‘tongue in cheek’ complaining he has this big successful business in LA and he’s famous for his Procede commercials - lol.
Life long Met fan, grew up in Brooklyn.
They asked him how has the best ‘do’s’ in baseball. He said it was hard to tell since they all wear hats and helmets but on the NY Mets, David Wright’s is pretty cool….

I'm not buying anything about this guy until he's been in the line-up, starting for a solid week.

Yes the numbers are soft. If we were never showed his stats all year and were told to take a guess on what they were, we would guess a lot lower than they actually are.

I came to that realization a while ago. It just doesn't seem to be the year this team can do anything. Early in the season anytime the team had a few good games in a row there was an off day or a rainout to kill the momentum. Every time it looked like a player would come back and be healthy they got hurt again or had to be out of the line-up for other reasons. It just seems like whenever things get going they come crashing back. Now a good run late alla the Phillies last year could change all of that. I am not saying they are out of it but it is just getting frustrating to see everything rolling along and then crash be it the bullpen, the offense or the starters getting hurt or being threatened to be taken out of the rotation

or Beltran too. It's amazing the amount and volume of expletives I hear directed toward those guys at Shea whenever they strike out (Beltran) or make a fielding mistake (Reyes).

But when David gets doubled up twice in two days on stupid base running mistakes, killing a potential rally? Or strikes out/grounds into a DP with RISP? Well, that's just unfortunate. Poor kid needs a day off.

I don't like Beltran in the #3 spot because his low batting average would kill too many rallies. He is simply not consistent enough of a hitter.
