You don’t have to put commas before conjunctions. In the case of the first sentence he was joining and independent clause and a dependent clause, so a comma isn’t necessary.

I’m pretty sure commas are optional for conjunctions.

actually 3 times you should have put a comma before but, but i really dont give a hoot about grammer and punctuation, as you can well see.

I’ve been reading this blog for quite some time now but have yet to make a comment. I feel the need now because for a while I’ve been noticing small mistypes and other mistakes in many posts. I love the work done on this blog but really wish the editorial process was kicked up a notch. This is becoming a serious place for baseball news and should be proofread accordingly. Again, I love the work here but it’s almost as sloppy as the New York Times.
