The best idea I heard was from Gary Cohen and the other announcers which is to start Johan Santana in the 3rd inning. Or basically, after whenever the pitcher comes up. It's a good strategy because you'd be able to use a pinch hitter (especially with the luxury of 3 catchers) to start the game. Than from there, you're basically guaranteeing Johan would have the stuff to get through the following 6 or 7 innings. You could bat Endy Chavez or Luis Castillo ninth and use them as a like a bonus lead off hitter while leaving Brian Schneider/Ramon Castro batting 8th. The Mets wouldn't have to depend on the bullpen to get them through games as much. The strategy also works out better than with most pitcher's because Johan's a decent hitter for a pitcher and is lefty and will see mostly right-hander's.

how about we trade Castillo to the D'Backs for a reliever like Micah Owings? He could be our long man/middle guy. They need a 2B since the O-Dog is out for the year, right?

Why is no one suggesting this trade?

Its really true, ive never seen people flip flop the way people on this blog do. I mean, just a few months ago people on here wanted to release Perez, now he is the second coming. Three days ago people wanted to have Castillo stay in the minor leagues or whatever but now that Reyes is slumping a little they are open to the fact that Castillo is going to come back, even though he is hitting worse now in his rehab starts than he ever hit before going down. I dont get it.

Personally, id rather watch young players stink because you can at least justify it based on the fact that they are learning.

As far as I know major league scouts have the same opinion, hence why he was like 25 and still in the minors despite our second base needs.

That's ridiculous- who cares about UFL football? Why do they get to destroy CitiField?

UFL? When will people learn that there is no room for inferior football in this country. Why would people pay to watch football worse than college and the NFL? Its a shame our field has to be subjected to this.

I'm disappointed. A year from now when the UFL starts the New York team is going to be playing on Citi Field. The season lasts through Thanksgiving. With that said, the Mets are going to be playing on a field chewed up from football during the last few months of the season.
