    why not post lineups?

    • TobeRinkler says:

And what’s up with the new header? El Stinko. Do you think people will miss the tremendous GEICO ad an inch or two away?

It’s one thing to have a sponsor, it’s quite another to allow that sponsor to interfere with what should be an autonomous thing.

Are the mets going to wear uniforms with “Citi” on them next year? This usurpation of your autonomy in the header is very close to the same. Why not just go straight for the Chico’s Bail Bonds look?

Hope the GEICO tattoo they likely made you all get on your glutes doesn’t hurt too badly.

  2. D in Ben Lomond says:

    reyes
    reyes
    wright
    delgado
    beltran
    murphy
    schneider
    chavez
    pelfrey

  3. OPP is Metsmerizing says:

you guys are getting lazy posting the lineups

  4. khmustache says:

i like the lineup…on another note, why don’t the marlins have a hi-def channel?

    • GravediggerHebner says:

They offer some of their games in HiDef, but they’re too cheap (surprise!) to do all their games in it.

    • DavidDog says:

maybe another desperation move to get people to go their home games?

  5. metsjam says:

You like this lineup? They have the weak hitter at all three positions (reyes, schneider, chavez rather than easley, castro, tatis)

    • iluvbuckner says:

      cuz they’re facing a righty?

    • khmustache says:

tatis has been slumping a little, castro is hurting and argenis deserves a start every now and then. tell me you don’t like the way 3-6 looks. the weakest link is schneider, but that’s a given…so all that being said, yeah, i like the lineup today

  6. DavidDog says:

i dont mind seeing chavez out there against the marlins, who hit a lot of dep fly balls (although hopefully pelf can keep them in the infield). i wonder about A-rey in the 2 hole though (then again, i didn t like evans there last night either, and i was proven wrong)

  7. XbLaDe31 says:

Anyone else in the Albany area not seeing the game on the CW11????

    • slumetsfan says:

yea, its on now though, as I’m sure it is for you. Every time the game is on the CW i get nervous they’ll screw the broadcast up like they almost just did. They just seem so sloppy and unprofessional. I guess we’re spoiled with the Emmy Award winning SNY broadcast.

      • iluvbuckner says:

u guys get CW11 up there? or is it a simulcast feed?

        • slumetsfan says:

simulcast thank god. I can’t stand to be without my keith ron and gary for very long *cough* I hate fox baseball *cough*

  8. dcmetsfan says:

Yay, I get to watch the game with the Marlins announcers. Three hours of hell, here we come.

  9. ReyesMets says:

three grounders…great to see from Dr. Pelf

  10. Nate W. says:

Dont read too much into Stokes not being sent down for the time being.
He will stay on the roster at least until Maine comes back and makes his start. They will want a backup plan for Maine that day in case his injury flares up after such an active DL stint. Stokes is the only guy who should do that, and there arent really anymore quality relievers to call up anyway…

  11. slumetsfan says:

Jose with high socks? This doesn’t happen to often.

  12. nobeers says:

I would imagine A. Reyes is also being evaluated rather closely with Castillo on his way back.

  13. khmustache says:

    crap

  14. Nate W. says:

Pelfrey’s sinker is flat, only moving in on the righties, not down at all.

  15. DavidDog says:

and that’s why murphy was not a highly rated prospect: he has absolutely no clue what to do in the outfield

    • Nate W. says:

makes little sense, he was a 3B prospect not an OF prospect

      • DavidDog says:

i meant to say, he has no clue what he’s doing in the field, he was not very good as an infielder either – look at his numbers, had tons of errors and very little range. and from what we’ve seen, he’s pretty slow running the bases. don’t get me wrong, after what he’s done im his biggest fan, but he’s only shown true potential at the plate (which, of course, is what will get you to the bigs and earn u the $$$)

        • Nate W. says:

ah, I get your point now.

I’m not so sure I completely agree though. That play where the ball short hopped the wall and bounced over his head isnt really the worst mistake in the world. Not like Milledge in Fenway. :P

I like that he hustles and works at it as much as he does. Hopefully his work in the field will pay off the way his long history of work in the batting cage will pay off.

Otherwise he might end up as the next Edgar Martinez…

  16. khmustache says:

    double crap

  17. ReyesMets says:

At what time do you think we’ll see our first “I HATE THIS TEAM” post??

WIll it appear today? I say 2:49 pm today

  18. khmustache says:

the marlins guy just sent out a challenge to the marlins fans “try to outnumber the cubs fans this weekend in florida…you know there’s gonna be a lot of cub fans there, so lets show some hometown pride”

    marlins fans suck

  19. 911nafstem says:

nothing spells cold shower like Brian Schneider

  20. 911nafstem says:

I love Chavez, but when the Mets are down against a pitcher that just owns them like this, it’s tough having him in the lineup.

  21. mistermet says:

    Metsblog,

In the future, please simply post the lineup instead of referring us to an “SNY.TV” link, which did not show the lineup you clicked on it.

  22. DavidDog says:

    old lady is good luck!

  23. VegasMet says:

Can someone explain the rules to me…We all know, when it’s cold, the umpires will allow the pitchers to go to their mouth. How come, here in August, Pelfrey gets to work on his fingers like a kid with an ice cream cone?

    Nice one Endy…!

    • khmustache says:

a lot of it depends on the other team…if they complain then the ump will issue a warning, technically it is illegal, but nobody really cares

  24. Darth Manuel says:

When and if Church comes back how are we going to get Murph in the lineup everyday? Personally I wouldn’t mind dealing with the few errors we get from him at second as long as he continues to hit. He could learn on the job. Or at least until it becomes an issue.

    • Darth Manuel says:

      Think about that linuep

      Reyes
      Murphy
      Wright
      Delgado
      Beltran
      Church
      Tatis
      Schneider..

      thats solid!!

      • Nate W. says:

is that Tatis or Murphy playing 2B?

either way it might be a disaster… Castillo/Easley at 2B and Tatis/Murphy in LF platoons is probably the way they will go.

  25. MetsFan1989 says:

ok castillo>argenis reys. id rather have castillo then him b/c that kid is nothing special

  26. DavidDog says:

why exactly is argenis reyes on this team? is it just for the comic relief he provides when they stick bubblegum on his cap? to make castillo’s return more welcome? and do they put him in the 2-hole just for the chance to say “reyes drives in reyes”?

    • ReyesMets says:

Wasn’t it just 3 weeks ago people on this board were uttering the “I really like this Argenis Reyes kid…” type comments??

THIS IS WHY we need to be careful about small sample sizes (20 at-bats, David Murphy anyone?)

      • DavidDog says:

not me, i’ve been complaining about a-rey since he got here, weak bat and looks very bad on popups, although he’s pretty skilled as a ground-ball fielder.

  27. 911nafstem says:

come on Pelf, don’t revert back to your 2 out ways

  28. AngryFan says:

    F**king Pelfrey….such garbage

  29. DavidDog says:

should have walked him dammit, he’s got absolutely nothing on his potches today

  30. 911nafstem says:

now walk the pitcher for Ramirez, excellent

  31. VegasMet says:

Big Mike not inducing confidence today…

  32. AngryFan says:

    Way to choke………………scrub

I’m pretty sure they’ll have an incredibly hard time hitting Johnson…

  33. 911nafstem says:

The Marlins seem to have Pelf’s number

  34. VegasMet says:

    Well, a series win is a good thing…Not that I’m sayin’…I’m just sayin’…

  35. AngryFan says:

Why can we never develop a pitcher this good? All we get is garbage like Pelfrey…

  36. rj101592 says:

If only we had a pitcher that could come up like johnson in big games…oh wait..that’s right, we got santana

  37. DavidDog says:

this johnson is one he’ll of a pitcher though, looked great from the day he got to the bigs.

  38. neoncleon says:

Danny Baseball is the real thing…he smoked that. I love watching this kid. I know he’s not gonna continue this clip, but he def has an idea at the plate, and I have confidence he can develop the glove…

  39. neoncleon says:

Angry Fan…”how’s having Santana helping this year?”…are you kidding. Sub-3.00 ERA. Leaves with the lead almost every start…you’ve got to be kidding.

    • AngryFan says:

I don’t deny the guy has pitched well. Results-wise, he’s not having an impact.

Not saying it was his fault, just strictly looking at impact.

      • 911nafstem says:

Well the guy you say sucks is 8-1 in his last 9 decisions. How’s that for impact?

        • AngryFan says:

Can you show me where I say “he sucks”

          ???

How does “I don’t deny the guy has pitched well” turn into “he sucks”

          ???

          Die please.

        • 911nafstem says:

I’m talking about Pelfrey, who you said is a “scrub” and “not a good pitcher.” You got issues pal.

        • AngryFan says:

          Oh. Well Pelfrey DOES suck.

          He’s NOT a good pitcher.

I guess you stopped watching the game today

        • Aflac Sucks says:

And I guess you havn’t seen him in any of his past 15 or so starts. But ya know, screw it, if he struggles in one game in August that negates all of his other success this season. Logic!

ps. Muniz is really really not a major league pitcher. Even as a long man.

  40. 911nafstem says:

Pelfrey’s gotta get through this, getting behind by 3 against this Johnson guy will be tough

  41. Nate W. says:

it appears the logical debate has ended for the day.

later, have fun with the nuts.

  42. AngryFan says:

Philly phucking laffs at this piece of crap Pelfrey

  43. rj101592 says:

    And theres game!

  44. DavidDog says:

he’s pitching very very poorly, now we gotta waste the bullpen with a daygame tomorrow

  45. iluvbuckner says:

pelfrey’s been horrible the whole year…he should be traded or released. He’s done NOTHING for this team.

No wait…nevermind. Just a bad game.

  46. adam900 says:

He can’t pitch against the Marlins, not locating at all. I highly doubt they come back against Johnson.

  47. ReyesMets says:

AngryFan, ever wonder why you’re single?

  48. rj101592 says:

    Kunz better come up big

  49. MetsFan1989 says:

ok all u guys who knocked stokes last night.. look who had the better game. pelfrey sucks when theres 2 outs.

  50. MetsFan1989 says:

i smell a walk or a grand slam.

  51. MetsFan1989 says:

that a boy or future closer. sorry set up man wow our best relfief pitch is slated best as a set up man.

  52. ReyesMets says:

I’m almost happy this is happening just to shut up the “EDDIE KUNZ IS BETTER THAN WAGNER” crowd

    • AngryFan says:

      …said the child molester

    • Two-By-Four says:

You claim to be a Mets fan yet you say “I’m almost happy this is happening just to shut up the “EDDIE KUNZ IS BETTER THAN WAGNER” crowd.” So you prefer that a Mets player perform poorly so you can shut the crowd up. You care more about the postings of the fans than you do about the team on the field and you call yourself a Mets fan. You’re a disgrace and should be banned.

  53. DavidDog says:

    wow. ugly one.

  54. MetsFan1989 says:

when wright and delgado struck out that was game. it was just so quiet

  55. stickguy says:

I can’t see the game, and looks like I shouldn’t have bothered to wander by and check the on line reports! Not looking like Plef had much today. Oh well.

maybe they will have a big comeback. If not, hope someone can pitch 2-3 today and take one for the rest of the pen. Good time to have a long man (oops, scratch that…)

  56. BigPelf4prez says:

    PLEASE DFA MUNIZ

  57. khmustache says:

i’m blaming this game on jose’s long socks…

  58. miker94 says:

i wonder when the mets will finally have the intelligence and common sense to realize that the muniz experiment is OVER. funny how if this turd was on any other team in the universe he’d be sent back to little league baseball, but the mets just keep putting this guy on the mound. it’s like we are some incompetent, moron of an organization that can’t figure out that a certain player is simply not good, not at all, not even one bit. it’s not like the guy has ever shown any signs of being good. give it up already!

  59. lil pelf says:

why is daniel murphy not batting between jose reyes and david wright?

    • Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Yeah I think the bloom is off the A Reyes rose. Man I hope Church’s comeback is for real this time.

  60. HOFMets57 says:

For the life of me, I can’t understand why Minaya and Manuel continue to march Carlos Muniz out to the mound, let alone keep him at this level.

It’s ridiculous. He lives around 91 mph (Glavine territory) with little control, NO movement and more HR given up per IP than anyone else on the team.

    • miker94 says:

i couldn’t agree more, this guy is a bum. give it up already

    • Nate W. says:

his AAA numbers suggest he is much better when he gets regular work.

I dont know why they try using him as a long reliever, they should send him back to AAA, get him some regular work, and see if he can help the Mets in Sept as a short reliever.

  61. lil pelf says:

he is the peffect two hitter and we have him seeing worse pitches, leading off innings, without jose reyes on base an david wright on deck?

  62. Aflac Sucks says:

Beautiful play by Chavez. Its not really going to matter, but man, is he great to watch out there. Also nice to see the Shea Faithful giving him a nice hand.

  63. Nate W. says:

…if they are going to leave Muniz in to soak up innings (and runs) why not give Wright a rest and let us see what Murphy can do at his natural position?

    • lil pelf says:

      bite your tongue

      • lil pelf says:

maybe we should try him at second which is a more likely future for him and put argenis reyes on the bench and stick nick evans in left field

      • Nate W. says:

        why?

if they are giving up, its a good spot to give him some rest.

would you rather Wright sat out tomorrows game entirely?

        • lil pelf says:

backpage murphy taking over from david wright? why do that when murphy and wright are both playing great?

        • Nate W. says:

sorry, I’m more worried about winning games later with a fresh Wright than what the backpages have to say. I’ll get my priorities straight sooner or later…

        • lil pelf says:

The fact is there’s no point in putting Murphy at third base anyway, he will never play the position as long as he is a New York Met, not to mention he is trying to learn left field because that’s where we need him.

    • toomanyuniforms says:

Well, for one, if his future is in left, he needs innings there. If Wright needs a rest, I’d put Tatis at third and keep Murphy learning.

    • Gina says:

Because his future isn’t there. If they’re going to try him out at a position other than lf it should be 2nd or 1rst. There’s no reason for him to waste time at 3rd.

  64. lil pelf says:

we stuck our hottest hitter in between beltran and schneider!!

  65. khmustache says:

    marlins announcers…worst in baseball?

  66. khmustache says:

    lucky snag

  67. NYP-BOS-NYP says:

    Well, that wasn’t much fun.

  68. Gina says:

I guess Pelfrey’s coming back down to earth. Hopefully Maine comes back strong.

    • NYP-BOS-NYP says:

I’m not ready to say that (re: Pelfrey) just yet. He has historically had trouble with the Marlins, for whatever reason. And he wasn’t terrible today… I mean, he was certainly not on his game, but everyone has a bad outing now and then, and he still kept us in the game, albeit only marginally so.

The bullpen, however, still not so great.

We’ll see with Big Pelf. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.
