That thinly veiled attack on Willie Randolph was pathetic, Matt. Also, putting a starter in the bullpen is S-T-U-P-I-D. Don't do it.

Sam the torpedos and full speed ahead.. Jerry is right we can't continue like this and be successfull..the bullpen is taxed from over use ..we will fail again in sept if we stand pat

Move pelf or Maine to the 8th inning and use stokes as the fifth starter.. Pedro looks ok as a starter but he can't do the pen..

Keep kunz around and get rid of muniz asap...

True, it would be good to put Maine in the pen if he isnt actually healthy anymore but coming off the DL (healthy) I feel like he is better than Ollie and is our clear #2. His stats recently were bad because he was pitching hurt, but with this rest I think that he is capable of putting up the first half kind of numbers that we know he is capable of. Ollie also should stay as a starter, just because he is 1) Helping a ton in the rotation right now and 2) could implode with the best of them in a tight spot.

This is why I think Big Pelf is THE GUY for us to put in the pen for the moment. He is approaching far too many innings, as he will have way over 30 innings more than he threw last year. Another thing to note is that this guy, when throwing the heat, can probably reach speeds up to 98 mph, and the fact that he really only has like 2 pitches makes him perfect for the pen anyway. Look at his starts recently, hes been very bad and its clearly due to fatigue. We should put him in the pen to ease the stress of the full season, meanwhile still using his strenghts (the heat) to get hitters out late in games.

Pedro has a set program he follows on his off days.
He also has a fragile shoulder.
He is not a guy who can quickly make the transition from throwing every fifth day to throwing multiple days a week.

His mentality would allow for it, I grant that.

But his body would not.

I say give Matt Wise a shot! He can't be any worse than the cast we have in the bullpen.

What? He's hurt? oh yeah...he'll probably still be better than our misfits anyway!

There's a nickname for our pen... the METSFITS!!

maine was our worst starter when he was in there. he had an extremely low avg against, but couldn't go deep. by moving him to the rotation you take advantage of his strength and hide his weakness. maine is also a strike out pitcher. i agree, ollie would do a better job in the pen, because he is a better pitcher than maine. that being so, he should remain a starter. same for pelfrey. maine cannot replace either of these guys in the rotation, while he quite possibly could do as good a job in the pen.

How much longer till Wagner gets back? I'm only suggesting throwing Perez in for closer until Wagner returns.

They don't face the Phillies/Marlins until the 26th, so that gives Wagner 2 weeks to recover.

i agree somewhat with u about maine dave but i think pelf wouldn't thrive in that role - he might lose his confidence
