Hey Matty, how about Dwight Gooden. He was my favorite pitcher growing up. His off the field stuff shouldn't get in the way of what he did as a player for the Mets!

Of course, Gary Carter crossing home plate in Game 6 is still embedded in the minds of every met fan. Hey, to me #22 will always be Kevin McReynolds. The idea of having the playrs who represnet the numbers come b to pull off the numbrs was perfect. Especially, with Mookie being number one.

I am curious as to what Gooden is doing now and if he has cleaned up his life. That is probably why he hasn't appeared at Shea the past decade. It just feels wrong that someone who was synonymous with the stadium for almost 10 years has not been back once. i'm sure being in prison had something to do with it. But frankly if he's out and he's clean he should be there.

Here here. Although Gary's misstep regarding Willie is no reason to hold him out.

Frankly, everyone of any importance from every era should be invited to this.

If you are going to keep doing on-air pieces, there needs to be a point when you address the fact that the Mets organization needs to re-embrace Dwight Gooden. As far as I am concerned Gooden is the second most important player in the histroy of the organization, and quite possibly the first. I am pretty close to your age and it was Gooden(along with Strawberry) that solidified my longterm love for the Mets. Doc on the mound was an event and watching him on the mound was like watching an artist work. It's what i can imagine watching Pedro in his prime play for the Mets would have been. We all kow about his drug problems and maybe they are not as far behind him as Darryl 's seems to be. Bringing Darryl back to do post-game analysis was great . After what Gary Carter did to willie, to have him back and not Gooden is a shame. If Gooden doesn't make an appearance in the booth this season, something is worng. Unless, he is still dealing with addictions. i meanhe can't come off more unlikeable than tom seaver did as an anouncer.

Unfortunately for the Nats last night, we count all 9 innings in a baseball game.

I'd rather have our friends at Elias look at the # of runs the Mets score in innings 6-10 and compare that to previous playoff teams, rather than look at scoring differential.

We know our Bullpen sucks, let's take that into account and then compare our supposed late-inning offensive deficiency to other teams/years.

fault and things the mets could do better
We should just calm down and wait for the phills to find there inner 07 mets
