I think he is worth 4 years @ $44M, but he will probably end up getting more. Of course, Boras has botched negotiations with his players before(see: Kyle Lohse, Jeff Weaver, Alex Rodriguez). Perez could go as high as $60M for four years to as low as $10M for one year(if Boras overplays his hand again). I really don't see any team going five years. Most will actually try for three. Probably the first team to go to four years will get him. Perez is just so inconsistent for teams to want to commit that much $$ long term.

Tough spot. If the Mets make the playoffs partially due to Perez, his price goes up. If he does well in the playoffs, his price goes up. In the WS, his price goes up.

Best case scenario is to re-sign Perez is to somehow win the WS despite him stinking up the joint.

Perez is Omar's "guy". I seriously believe Ollie will be back with the team next year and so will Pedro. Ollie because he's a dominant lefty and he's the type of guy the Wilpons like. Pedro because he's the godfather of this team, who after coming back from shoulder surgery hasn't been bad and is getting better every month. Niese will be the 6th man

I expect the focus this off season to be to shore up the bullpen.

Sometimes it seems as if Met fans believe we can just "go sign" a player. It's not like it's either Ollie or CC. It could easily be neither.

Last time I checked, the players themselves had some say in the matter.

Who are the Yankee's competing with for him? Mets? not going more than 5 years after Santana. RSox, don't see a real need. What other teams can afford the years and money?

Or see how the Padres divorce drama plays out and try to trade for Jake Peavy when they only have half of the budget to work with and are looking to dump salary.

I think it just moved.

Yeh, they would use him in relief in the one game we have a chance to win.
