Elbow problems are VERY bad. It could mean TJ which. Considering Wagner’s age, it’d be the end for him at least as a closer.

Heilman as a closer?? Seriously??? Two reliable pitches and the propensity to walk batters combined with the long balls he gives up???? That pucker puss and far away look he gets drive me crazy. He does, however, back up 3rd and home plate very well–back-pedaling into position after releasing a pitch almost seems like part of his delivery.

Make Heilman the closer, he’s historically responded well when given more responsibility. Yes, it scares the crap out of me, but I think he’d be the best choice.

Frankly, I don’t think Wagner will mind that much if he has to share closing duties with someone or take a back seat entirely. In 2006, he told Willie and Rick to give Bell some closing opportunities, I think to give himself a break. They didn’t listen to him. He realizes he can’t be a fulltime closer anymore. Question is, do the Mets realize it?

I agree they should go after K-Rod. And have a backup plan if he signs elsewhere. They need a closer bad, and to reinforce their bullpen. What happened to Santana this year can’t happen in the future.

Forget about Teixeira. Forget about Delgado too. He’s too risky. Just concentrate on Ollie (or a replacement for him) and a closer.
