As Harold just said – ‘This is an exciting ball club right now’.

Let’s Go Mets – keep it going, Pelf!

  2. teufelshuffle86 says:

I would consider this our A lineup right now. Gotta keep the bats going. Hopefully Pelf can got out of the funk he’s been in lately.

  3. JoseReyesForPresident says:

    love this line up

  4. rustyjr says:

anyone wanna take bets whos closing tonite?? i got feliciano

    • toomanyuniforms says:

You can’t “close” with a ten run lead! ;)

But, if we do find ourselves in a save situation, you can bet it’s going to be situational. If there are lefties, it will be Feliciano. Righties or switch hitters = Heilman.

      • toomanyuniforms says:

Oh wait — it’s Jurrjens. You definitely CAN close when the score is 2-1. Asking a lot of Pelfrey, but, you know — gotta believe, and such.

    • Steviefan84 says:

I got 20 on Heilman. lol

  5. rustyjr says:

i was looking at the ticket brokers for the last game and i nearly crappedself 114 dollars for upper deck i was like “are these guys on crack???

  6. rustyjr says:

    *myself

  7. T-Pac says:

Jerry is killing me with these lineups. Argenis Reyes in the 2-hole? Dude can barely keep his OBP above .300. Not the kind of hitter you want getting the 2nd most ABs. Let’s see Beltran or Murphy in that important lineup spot, not Castillo, Jr.

    • rustyjr says:

tpac what have u been smoking – a-rey has been getting the clutch hits that gets reyes in scoring position- there has been more hits and runs plays called since he’s been in the 2 hole

  8. rustyjr says:

maybe we can pay jr gotti some cash to “deal with our castillio problem” ;)

  9. khmustache says:

larry jones is a lot easier to take when the braves are 12 games out…still hate him though

  10. ASod1975 says:

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Mets’ bullpen problems lately and I think the best solution might be to go out and get one of the bats that has cleared waivers, either Aubrey Huff or possibly Melvin Mora of the Orioles (have always liked Mora since his early Mets days). I love what the Mets have been getting from Murphy and Evans but I’m a bit worried they may be exposed once the scouting report gets out on them. Another quality bat can help take some stress off the pitching staff. Like the Al Reyes signing today, low risk high reward type of move……

  11. Steviefan84 says:

Let’s go Mets!! Go Big Pelf!

  12. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Very nice, Pelfrey.

  13. khmustache says:

    SI’DOWN LARRY!!!!

  14. khmustache says:

terrible in the 2 hole…i hate him

  15. Steviefan84 says:

    Come on Delgado!

  16. Steviefan84 says:

    Wow close hit by Muphy

  17. khmustache says:

    DANNY BOY!!!!

  18. Steviefan84 says:

    WOOOOO BABY!! MURPPHHYYY!!!

  19. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Yes – Daniel !!!!!!!

  20. khmustache says:

    LARRY! LARRY! LARRY!!!!!!!

  21. MetsFan4Decades says:

HAHAHAHA – The Karma is ours tonight !!

  22. Steviefan84 says:

Wow I’m so used to seeing the Mets do these mistakes the Braves are doing.

  23. JoseReyesForPresident says:

i got to look it up but i think the mets lead the MLB in 1st inning runs if not it seems they score everytime in the 1st!!

  24. BlueCapsOnly says:

    Man, Murphy has some eye

  25. Nightlife says:

    LAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYY

  26. BlueCapsOnly says:

    C’mon Schnied, clear the pitcher!

  27. Steviefan84 says:

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Fall apart Braves, Fall apart!

  28. CaveManJoe says:

Ahhh, I love this Braves team. It makes me smile to see them playing great fundamental defense.

  29. MetsFan4Decades says:

Even Pelfrey gets in on the act.
This just doesn’t get any better…..

  30. DavidDog says:

    wow

  31. Nightlife says:

    Oh man……

  32. Steviefan84 says:

It’s our day when the pitcher gets an RBI single!!!

  33. EV says:

Is there anything better than watching the Braves implode.

  34. adam11216 says:

anyone remember that sweep in atlanta back in may? me neither.

  35. BlueCapsOnly says:

I guess that BP for Pelf Matt was talking about ealier payed off

  36. iluvbuckner says:

    all with 2 outs

  37. MetsFan4Decades says:

And before you can blink, 5-0 Mets in the first.

  38. Steviefan84 says:

Great job Mets, keep the pressure on!

  39. DavidDog says:

cerrone did mention earlier how he thought pelf had a nice swing…

  40. khmustache says:

    nice catch kid….

  41. MetsFan4Decades says:

Murphy looking like a natural left fielder tonight. Nice catch.

  42. khmustache says:

    nice catch wright!

  43. stickguy says:

there was an interesting stat on SNY last night.

Mets lead by a huge margin in run differentail in innings 1-3 (+107ish before yesterday).

But,. they are dead last in innings 7-9 (-57?)

Somehow, I don’t think a lot of Metsbloggers are going to be too surprised…

Oh, I think they were about average in the middle.

But, while having a solid BP is nice, at this point just outscore the other team and get the W, even if it means taking a 10-0 lead and holding on for a 10-9 win!

  44. Steviefan84 says:

    Mets flashing the leather

  45. MetsFan4Decades says:

And no one does it better…
    ‘Flashing that leather’…..

    1-2-3 – sit down, Atlanta.

  46. FatalFlaw says:

I wanted to mention how natural Pelfrey looked at the plate, and how natural Murphy looks in left field.

Really great job by the Mets.

  47. DavidDog says:

    minaya bad luck as usual

  48. MetsFan4Decades says:

hahaha – Omar in the booth on that third out:
    ‘Oh God, let’s get that’……

  49. BigPelf4prez says:

3 ex mets playing for the nats tonight

  50. MetsFan1989 says:

ANDERSON HERNANDEZ is batting .500 on the season guys. y did we trade him

  51. Steviefan84 says:

Keep your foot on the Braves throats, Mets don’t let them up for air!

  52. BigPelf4prez says:

    Binghamonton Lineup… F MART, Castillo Church. F MART is 2for 2 2 rbi

  53. kendychavez says:

it is so comforting that omar isn’t as dumb as fans/ned yost when it comes to pitch count

  54. EV says:

    Nice error LARRY!!!

  55. MetsFan4Decades says:

Larry isn’t looking real good out in that field tonight, is he?

  56. stickguy says:

Oh oh. looks like the old “get some quick runs, then try to get to our dinner reservations ASAP” Mets are coming back!

44 pitches for Jurjjens in inning 1, and he still may go 7 at this pace!

    • Steviefan84 says:

Disgusting but this is how teams get back into the game when the Mets stop scoring and the other team just keeps pecking away at the score and thus giving us heartattacks from the bullpen. lol

  57. nyj0128 says:

Omar Minaya’s an average GM. He’s done enough to keep his job, but he’ll get fired down the road. He’s had bright spots. Look at John Maine, Endy Chavez, Duaner Sanchez and other’s. You got to look at the bad ones too though. If they make the playoffs though, we won’t be questioning him as much.

  58. atlantas1metsfan says:

As an Atlantan I can tell you no one down here cares anymore…they are comparing this team to a team from the late 80’s, Hope they go into a nice long slumber for say 20 years…Here’s to Mets fans taking down Turner in a couple weeks to fix the wrongs of that horrible may series

  59. khmustache says:

    nice play kid

  60. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Very nice, Argenis.

  61. nyj0128 says:

Yup. Let’s get some revenge on the Astros who swept us too. The Mets should go out in style and win at Shea if more than anything else. Just look – nice play by Argenis.

  62. stickguy says:

Hmm. MLB . com has a piece on teh notes page about CHurch, that he may come back as a reserve with Tatis remaining the starter.

Maybe they will end up with a double platoon? If nothing else, it will make for some good bats on the bench, especially when the lefties don’t start in the field!

  63. Steviefan84 says:

Got to send this umpire a thank you card after this game with his strikezone. It’s a breath of fresh air from the other airtight strikezones.

  64. MetsFan4Decades says:

Man, how good is Pelfrey this second half? Give him a lot of credit for persevering when he probably thought, for the past year/18 months, he couldn’t buy a win up here in the big leagues.

    • Steviefan84 says:

I’ll also give the Mets offense some credit for scoring more than 2 runs in the 1st. lol

  65. stickguy says:

Yup. Jurrjens threw 30 pitches in the next 3 innings

  66. CaveManJoe says:

I guess this TopDot is the new guiseppe franco. I do not approve.

  67. Steviefan84 says:

Can’t even root for the Nationals, they are just awful. Not even a small favor of getting at least one win against the Phillies.

  68. khmustache says:

    WRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  69. Steviefan84 says:

    David Wright is WRIGHT ON!

  70. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Goodbye – Da-Vid Wright!

  71. Steviefan84 says:

I don’t trust those people at Sovereign Bank, they look evil.

  72. Steviefan84 says:

Why bunt? Just roll over for the Mets.

  73. khmustache says:

    cmon pelf

  74. Aflac Sucks says:

Wow, Chipper Jones talked to Kevin Burkhardt about meeting that dude in the clothing store who mentioned his encounter with Chipper in the Al Reyes thread.

    Wow, dude. Wow.

  75. Steviefan84 says:

Someone should tell Pelfrey he has a 6 – 1 lead, let’s not bring the Braves back into this ballgame.

  76. 911nafstem says:

come on Pelf, just get an out here

  77. 911nafstem says:

    nice

  78. MetsFan4Decades says:

Nice. Kid thinks on his feet out there.

  79. nyj0128 says:

There we go. Good play. How slow is McCann?

  80. Wright88 says:

    Castillo doesn’t make that play

  81. Steviefan84 says:

Nice play by Argenis Reyes and that was a pretty good sinker by Pelf to get that doubleplay.

  82. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Damn.

  83. nyj0128 says:

    Damn it.

  84. dave27 says:

It wouldn’t be Mets baseball if we didn’t need to rely on the bullpen for the W.

  85. Wright88 says:

Ah well…lets get some more runs.

  86. Steviefan84 says:

Ok Mets time to get those runs back.

  87. nyj0128 says:

Well, even Schneider makes mistakes. Kind of Pelfrey’s fault though. That run though can come back to bite us.

  88. khmustache says:

still up by 3…lets tack on some insurance

  89. nyj0128 says:

Even though he hasn’t pitched in that many games, Al Reyes numbers look like they’d actually be decent for the Mets bullpen. They’ll probably wait until Sept 1st, but calling up and optioning Stokes is an idea after the next time they use him for multiple innings and he’s not able to be used for a few days.

  90. nyj0128 says:

Pelfrey’s not throwing a bad game. See how much different all of us think of a pitcher’s peformance when the Mets offense is on? A lot of people on here were getting pissed at Oliver last night even though he threw a decent game. Hopefully he gets through another inning. They will probably actually pinch hit for him this inning though.

  91. 911nafstem says:

The Braves may suck, but their lineup still scares me

  92. dave27 says:

So let me get this straight….that guy is not actually wearing his cap, but he’s carrying it just in case two hotties happen to run up asking for directions so he can hide his hairline?

That’s just silly. I don’t blame Giuseppe for being disappointed in him.

  93. nyj0128 says:

Phils are up 4-0. Makes this win even more important if we can get it because we all know once Washington is losing, it’s over.

  94. nyj0128 says:

Did that guy have a Rockies hat? lol

  95. Steviefan84 says:

No Keith, we don’t want to know what Brett Myers is doing, everyone looks like Cy Young against that team.

  96. dave27 says:

I see a great opportunity for cross-branding here….why does;nt that annoying chick keep redecorating her living room, and then when she realizes something his still off, she sends her husband to Giuseppe Franco to restore his hairline…all on her citibak credit card!

    It’s a natural…might need to be a 60-second spot though.

Maybe a seperate feed should be set up for the commercials?

    • khmustache says:

one request…can you work the hawaiin tropics restaraunt into the commercial? other than that it’s beautiful

  97. khmustache says:

    6 pitches…nice

  98. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nice economizing there, Pelf.

  99. Steviefan84 says:

Next time the Mets players struggle and start kicking the ball around, threaten to trade them to the Nationals, that will get them playing better.

    • dave27 says:

With Omar in charge, I think the threat that he’s scouting the Nationals is ever-present….

  100. Steviefan84 says:

Well one more inning from Big Pelf and then one inning from the bullpen, I can take that.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Recipe for success going down the stretch. The starters gotta go deep in the game. Limit the BP sightings, keep them all fresh.
Then roll the dice on the set up man and 9th inning guy and hold our breath…..

  101. nyj0128 says:

Maybe Delgado will hit a home run here.

  102. nyj0128 says:

That trade for Bartolo Colon has to be one of his worst moves.

    • dave27 says:

I think you have to put it in the context of a franchise that had a reasonable chance of being contracted. Why hold on to prospects?

I just wish the Mets had had something to give them to steal Sizemore and Lee at the time.

      • nyj0128 says:

Well, yeah. Even at the time I doubted that would happen because that’s rare in the major sports in America/Canada. Plus, it would have screwed up the schedules. You still have to approach things as if it weren’t going to happen, but that is a weird position to be put in. I guess he went with the win now mode. Colon used to be awesome.

  103. Steviefan84 says:

    They all can’t be good.

  104. Metsfan309 says:

Just throwing this out there but Anderson hernandez is 2-3

    • Steviefan84 says:

good for him, hope he can beat up some other teams to help the Mets.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

I always liked Anderson, but how many 2nd basemen do we need? Since 2nd base isn’t the problem right now, and the BP/closer is, it was a decent trade – I think.

      • nyj0128 says:

Yeah. It was a small one. I think picking up Al Reyes will be even better. Ayala’s thrown a lot this year, but he can contribute. Look at Mota in 06′. He had a 6.21 ERA in 38 appearances for the Indians. Than when he came to the Mets in like 18 appearances, he had a 1.00 ERA. Steroids do help though. I used to think that the Mets were in on knowing he used it, but if that were the case than Omar wouldn’t have been enough to give him 5 million over 2 year’s.

I here a lot of people talk about Omar loving Latin players. People don’t actually realize that he’s lived most of his life in America. He moved to Queens as a kid before most Dominican immigrants have. He’s acquired lots of Latin and non-Latin players and has had mixed results of success on both sides.

In my opinion though, I wouldn’t say so much that he has a preference towards Latin player’s. I believe he favors Dominican players. Not so much in terms of actually acquiring them, but giving them ridiculous contracts. Look at Pedro. 4 yr/53 MM. It looked good for a year and a half, but he knew he was old. Luis gets 4 years? How? Gullermo Mota. He’s even from the same city as Luis. Is Omar a dual citizen of both America and the D.R? Something tells me he likes making his countrymen rich. If the Mets weren’t getting screwed I wouldn’t have minded, but if the Mets don’t re-sign Oliver it has to make you think.

    • mdemaio says:

He also made an error that cost the Nats two runs…

    • nyj0128 says:

That’s why we made the trade. Let him make some nice plays against the Phillies. He deserves a chance to play. When he was with the Mets, the question was always when he’d go back now. He’s not even a second basemen though. He’s a shortstop. He had pre-injury Rey Ordonez potential, but even he couldn’t hold up with the bat.

  105. BigPelf4prez says:

Pelf is cruising. Leave him in if he gets through this inning. (I have him on my fantasy team)

  106. danlx13 says:

    GO 9!!!!!!

  107. BigPelf4prez says:

LEAVE PELF IN GOD DAMN IT!!!

  108. Steviefan84 says:

Love this umpire. lol With the way he calls strikes, he will help Pelf get an easy 9th.

  109. EV says:

    Yea BIG PELF!!!!

  110. MetsFan4Decades says:

Wow – 97 pitches to complete 8 innings. And he was barely the 5th starter on paper when they were coming out of spring training….

  111. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

pelfrey starts the 9th with pedro warming up

  112. khmustache says:

    great inning pelf….

  113. dave27 says:

Has anyone ever seen Giuseppe Franco and David Schwimmer in the same place at the same time?

  114. dave27 says:

The Mets sign Giuseppe Franco tomorrow….Rank ‘em:

    _ John

    _ Julio

    _ Giuseppe

    _ Matt

  115. Flushing_is_Burning says:

big pelf for the complete game??

  116. MetsFan4Decades says:

Toyota text poll – Yes, please.

  117. Steviefan84 says:

Do we want to see Pelfrey start the 9th? What kind of question is that. lol If there isn’t over 95 percent something is wrong. lol

  118. Flushing_is_Burning says:

if he can get Larry out, let him finish

  119. BigPelf4prez says:

    YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  120. MetsFan4Decades says:

    YES !! Sit down, Larry.

  121. khmustache says:

    LAAAAARRRRREEEEEEEE

  122. BigPelf4prez says:

    LETS GO PELF!!!!!!!!!!!!

  123. Giuseppe Franco our next GM says:

    1 more out

  124. Steviefan84 says:

    Two outs!!!

  125. khmustache says:

    one more boys…one more

  126. dave27 says:

Why does a guy cruise through 8 innings, and then when he hits the 9th everyone treats him like he’s got dynamite strapped to him?

    Let him pitch!

    See!

  127. BigPelf4prez says:

I take back my pelf to the pen idea. He is a dominant ace

  128. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Pelfry chasing Johan.
Come on Mike, you can do this.

  129. MetsFan4Decades says:

Brilliant, just brilliant , Pelfrey !! Congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Woo – Hoo.

  130. khmustache says:

DONE AND DONE!!!!!!!!! NICE JOB BIG PELF!!!

  131. rM teM says:

    book it!

  132. Steviefan84 says:

Nice job Pelfrey and nice job Mets. Good game!

  133. dave27 says:

Just a tremendous outing…give him a lead, see you tomorrow Braves.

  134. BigPelf4prez says:

    BIG PELF DA MAN

  135. EV says:

    BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGPELFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

  136. nyj0128 says:

    Pelfrey’s awesome.

  137. gomets6091 says:

    YES! Great game Pelf.

  138. nyj0128 says:

This was big for the pen. Made us breath easier too.

  139. Giuseppe Franco our next GM says:

METS WIN great Job Big Pelf

  140. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    BIG PELF!!!!!!!!!!!

we need to win these games because the nats are terrible

  141. Steviefan84 says:

Two hours and eight minutes wow that’s a fast baseball game.

  142. gomets6091 says:

This is the kinda performance I like to see from the bullpen

  143. EV says:

Great job Pelf!!! Damn I would kill to be at a 2 Hours 8 Minute game lol.

  144. dave27 says:

Let’s finish off the sweep by pummeling our old friend Mike Hampton!

  145. nyj0128 says:

8 out of 9. Let’s sweep them tomorrow.

  146. nyj0128 says:

They should rock Hampton tomorrow. They’ll have bigger worries seeing him hit.

  147. BigPelf4prez says:

Myers threw a cg sho too. Great Night BIG PELFFFFFFF

  148. EV says:

Yea lets pummel the crap out of Hampton aka Mr. School Systems tomorrow.

  149. Metsfan309 says:

PELF is awesome!!! I’m looking like a genius for picking him up for my fantasy team when the season started.

  150. dave27 says:

I’m tired of hearing about Atlanta’s aura. They haven’t had an aura since 1999 (they’ve won exactly one playoff series since then, btw, none since 2001).

    • gomets6091 says:

their aura never had anything to do with the postseason, it was all about how they owned us in the regular season, and that lasted until 2005. But I agree, the aura is long since gone. Now, it’s lose to them early in the season, beat them late. I’m fine with that.

  151. SantanaCYYOung says:

I didn’t believe in pelfrey early in the season, and minus two outing against the marlins, this guy has been a second ace for this team and possibly the most important player on this team this year, because you knew what you were going to get from Santana, Pedro has been hurt, Maine and Perez have been above average (as expected).

But the emergence of Pelfrey has been huge!

The only the thing that scares me with him is that he already has one more inning pitched this year than at any time in his career.

  152. Giuseppe Franco our next GM says:

Atlanta is missed the postseason 2 in the last 15 years so they do have a alot of aura

  153. BigPelf4prez says:

Phils, Mets and Skanks all played just over 2 hr.

  154. SantanaCYYOung says:

The Mets have to win tomorrow (I know they really don’t) but the Braves swept us 4 at their park and we need to return the favor. And I would love for them to blow them away this last game.

    Let’s Go Mets

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Mike Hampton will probably injure himself getting dressed before the game so don’t lose any sleep over it.

      • SantanaCYYOung says:

i’d rather have the mets beat his brains in and then have him take a tour of nyc public schools

  155. teufelshuffle86 says:

    BIG PELF!!!!!!!!

  156. hotfoot86 says:

All of you Wille Randolph haters can thank him for the way Mike Pelfrey has turned into the type of pitcher the Mets hoped for when he was drafted. Big Pelf is going to be a staple in this rotation for many years to come and I, for one, can’t wait to see him mature.

  157. cleon69 says:

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  158. cleon69 says:

and now al reyes is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  159. PAPDOG67 says:

Why in the world are we talking about Willie or Peterson?? They’ve been gone for over 2 months now and we’re better off without them. Get over it.

  160. nyj0128 says:

Exactly. Willie and Rick are gone and that’s the way it should be. They should have gotten rid of the bullpen coach while they were at it. That was everything that’s wrong with this team.

The most simple and best thing I heard the Mets beat writer say all year was winning solves all the problems. Only two things matter at the end: Wins and Losses.

    Willie – 34-35.

The Mets were .500 in June, July, August and September of last year. They were just about the same thing in the 69 games Willie and Rick coached this team this year. And with Willie and Rick, that record is the exact kind of team they looked like. Mediocrity.

Jerry Manuel and Dan Warthen on the other hand? 37-23. I’m pretty damn happy with that record. Especially considering how out we were at one point. We picked up like 5 games in 5 days in that 10 game win streak and than picked up 5 in 6 games in the previous six game win streak. Not just are they winning, but they’re winning when the Phillies are losing and they’re beating the Phillies. Aren’t we like 9-4 this year against them? Weren’t we like 3-15 against them last year? It’s amazing if you think about. All it would have taken is 5-13 against your rival. Pretty sad.

Screw Willie. Screw Dan. Let’s just all get it off our chest. Willie’s a dumb baseball coach. New York’s a rough city. You don’t get as much as heat as a 3rd base coach. He has thick skin. I give him that. He took it like a man. You always here how he’s a stand up guy and I believe he is. However, he couldn’t make us win. It’s one thing if you don’t got that much baseball intelligence, but when you can’t motivate your players that makes it twice as bad. Jerry’s getting thrown out of games and getting his players fired up. I just don’t want to see Omar Minaya pull a James Dolan by giving Jerry Manuel a Isiah Thomas type contract extension in the middle of the hunt to get into the playoffs. In made him lay off a bit getting that pressure of his shoulders.

I meant screw Rick* … Not Dan lol He’s done a good job. Rick was too egocentric. Wanted everything to be his project. He was here since 03′ with Art Howe who may have been the worse Mets manager in history. He said he could fix Victor Zambrano in 10 minutes. How stupid can you be?

I do think they could have handled the situation with Willie better. He didn’t deserve to be disrespected a person. He was a gentlement with this team. Sure, he made that one borderline comment – but good for him. Screw the New York media. Who the hell likes them?

Firing him at 3:11 or what ever time it was in the morning? I’m up at this time and I’d tell you it’s too late to be doing anything damn thing that’s important. Firing him during the middle of a road trip? Why fly him out there if you know you’re getting rid of him? Not too much later they fly Church out on a plane after getting his second bad concussion too. Bonehead moves. So they didn’t want to fire him on Father’s Day? Okay, I understand that. They said they made the decision to get rid of him on that Friday. He won 3 out of 4 before they got rid of him. The Mets didn’t handle that situation the right way and in my opinion they do owe Willie an apology. Willie’s as much of a good guy as he is a dumb coach. It was Omar’s fault to hire him and bring him back period in 08′.

Pelfrey’s at where he is because of himself. His success actually started coming around when Warthen came here, so it may be possible he’s the guy who did something. Honestly though, I don’t think it was anything coach. I think it was just Mike’s time. He’s matured. He’s taken the bumps and the bruises. When he wasn’t optioned and they chose him over Claudio when Pedro came back, his confidence was boosted because the Mets had more in him. Oliver’s consistency started developing with Jerry and Warthen too. It seems like everyone gets it together – except for the bullpen of course when this team is rolling. Even they’re starting to come around though. I won’t let that comment go to far though until I see some more solid outings.
