Jerry might think he’s always in the middle of rallies, but if you actually go back and look at his games, well, he hasn’t been.

And I’ll add that if he does play, he should absolutely not be hitting 2nd. That’s a waste of the talent of both Jose and David.

Thank you! He’s a defensive replacement who doesn’t get on base, doesn’t score frequently (less frequently than Castillo), doesn’t hit with runners on or with 2 outs.

People like him for whatever reason, and as a result they throw out every cliche in the book to try to justify his playing time.

The guy makes an out nearly 70% of the time when he comes to the plate. He has no business on an MLB roster.

And for a guy who is supposedly “in the middle of everything” his run and RBI totals are extremely low.

He’s an example of the type of player for whom OPS is just not a very useful statistic. Players can be important contributors, even if they’re not hitting extra bases every time up. Jerry likes him because, as he says, Argenis seems so often to be in the middle of things. Making strong defensive plays, getting a rally going — even if, heaven forbid, it’s with a single — keeping a rally going, whatever.

I swear to god, fantasy is ruining baseball.

Argenis has a .615 OPS. That’s terrible. He plays excellent defense, but his offense is atrocious. Fortunately everyone else has been hitting so it hasn’t made a difference.
