YEEESSS…i just hope he plays like he did before the injury this yr…or even 80% of that

mikey_FF August 22, 2008 at 4:42 pm

Man … what a feeling to see his name in the lineup again!! This is great!!

cohenflowinpoop August 22, 2008 at 5:11 pm

notice last night that CANCEL didnt have the rally cap going …like the others in the dugout…I think he knew about the demotion yesterday before the game. Check the tapes…he was down.

JavaJoe August 22, 2008 at 5:09 pm

Hey Ryan, What’s missing?

CH_ _ CH

Not anymore B I A chez.

Mets Fan on Wall St. August 22, 2008 at 4:21 pm

I’m going to tonight’s game, it will be fantastic to see him out there. I am not expecting much but at the very least I hope the guy is healthy for good this time.

jimmyk456 August 22, 2008 at 4:22 pm

knowing church the guy will probably go out and hit 2 doubles tonight or something like nothing happened

khmustache August 22, 2008 at 4:23 pm

i’m gonna miss watching cancel steal bases out there

losmets5 August 22, 2008 at 4:25 pm

I won’t be able to see him come back, it’s my grandmother’s birthday. *sniff* Anyone know where the lineup is?

Tidewater August 22, 2008 at 4:30 pm

How old is your grandmother?

losmets5 August 22, 2008 at 5:15 pm

She’s 80 today.

Tidewater August 22, 2008 at 5:57 pm

That is much much more important than Church’s return. Happy Birthday, grandma, and many more!

ridethesnake August 22, 2008 at 4:52 pm

David Lennon at Newsday always has the lineups posted a few hours before the game. Sometimes earlier.

stickguy August 22, 2008 at 4:28 pm

looks like the team is coming together lately. WIll be intereting to see what the configuration is on 9/1 (preplanning for the playoffs, but knock on wood).

Tidewater August 22, 2008 at 4:29 pm

Ryan Church is awful.

(Sorry, just wanted to be a contrarian. I don’t think that.)

mouserdz August 22, 2008 at 4:31 pm

He should start wearing a batters helmet on field for extra protection, ala Johnny Olerud

stone11375 August 22, 2008 at 4:33 pm

thats actually a pretty good idea

toomanyuniforms August 22, 2008 at 4:50 pm

It’s a little more difficult in the OF, I’m thinking. He could use a chinstrap, however. . . .

JavaJoe August 22, 2008 at 5:11 pm

How about a Mets Football Helmet, with a Kicker’s single bar facemask!!!….

Ceetar August 22, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Except..he had a helmet on for the second concussion :-P

toomanyuniforms August 22, 2008 at 5:20 pm

So, therefore, helmets are worthless for preventing concussions? They’re not perfect, but they’re safer than nothing.

foul bunt strikeout August 22, 2008 at 4:34 pm

wait we aren’t carrying three catchers anymore!

what is OMAR and Jerry thinking!

Fir em both

I think we need to carry 15 catchers~!

khmustache August 22, 2008 at 4:40 pm

and we could use a couple more 2nd basemen while we’re at it

D in Ben Lomond August 22, 2008 at 4:51 pm

willie and jerry would play more secondbasemen, but there is only one slot in the lineup to put them (2nd).

khmustache August 22, 2008 at 4:57 pm

lol…nice

ags412 August 22, 2008 at 4:40 pm

Olerud wore a helmet because of his aneurysm. Helmets will not do much for a concussion (ask a football player).

Besides – the last time he got a concsussion, he was running the bases and had a helmet on.

toomanyuniforms August 22, 2008 at 4:51 pm

I’m thinking concussions might be more prevalent in the NFL were there no helmets, but perhaps I’m wrong.

K-Hern August 22, 2008 at 4:40 pm

I wish I could be there with the faithful to welcome back church

standing O

ridethesnake August 22, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Just not too loud an ovation please.

atrain311 August 22, 2008 at 4:52 pm

I’ve got the same giddy feeling I get when a rookie or newly acquired player makes his debut with the Mets…Go get ‘em, RYNO!!!!!!

Nightlife August 22, 2008 at 4:52 pm

Is he going to hold a sermon with the bat tonight?

khmustache August 22, 2008 at 4:58 pm

fozzie bear’s a mets fan?! i had no idea…

Nightlife August 22, 2008 at 5:00 pm

Fozzie is far and away the best Muppet, followed closely by Rowlf.

theperfectgame August 22, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Me like Animal!

JavaJoe August 22, 2008 at 5:12 pm

No love for Beeker?

toomanyuniforms August 22, 2008 at 5:13 pm

Beaker? Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew are easily the best.

Nightlife August 22, 2008 at 5:14 pm

He is kind of creepy guy if you ask me. If I had kids I would definitely be keeping them far away from Beeker.

calmark August 22, 2008 at 6:52 pm

Where’s some Swedish chef. …borgin orgin.

DWright is King August 22, 2008 at 4:52 pm

Reyes, ss
A. Reyes, 2b
Wright, 3b
Delgado, 1b
Beltran, cf
Murphy, lf
Church, rf
Schneider, c
Santana, lhp

atrain311 August 22, 2008 at 4:59 pm

I love seeing Murphy and Church next to each other in the lineup. TYPICALLY, you know what you’re going to get from the top and middle of lineups and it’s the bottom that can really make or break a game. Our bottom of the lineup is now one that teams cannot take lightly. Platoon that with Tatis when it’s a lefty on the bump and we’re still in great shape with our 6th and 7th spot.

grotesmask August 22, 2008 at 5:22 pm

Ah, the Irishman in front of the CHurch. Seems like a good fit.

Let’s Go Mets!

Welcome back, Ryan!

cohenflowinpoop August 22, 2008 at 5:22 pm

you know, here is an interesting tidbit we havent seen all year, or for that matter, the past 5 years….

what do you get if we use the same lineup as tonight, but include pelfrey ?

CMON, its on the tip of your tongue.

You want to say it but are too shy.

IS it not obvious to you, a diehard METS fan?

You watch them EVERY night and dont know?

ANSWER: we actually have a mostly blanco beisbol lineup….muchas gracias para los Mets!

Guess I’m the only fan to see it, but at least I see it happening, and call it as it is.

It has made me much less of a fan. I can relate as well to the team, for the same reason the GM wants to grow the fan base to other demos, the one he feels will always be here is waning. and that is why they have decreased their attendance in the seating capacity for next year…so tickets will always be in demand even though you dont relate to the team.

efaulk03 August 22, 2008 at 4:54 pm

what are we gonna do with only 2 catchers on the active roster?

theperfectgame August 22, 2008 at 5:07 pm

Win?

AngryFan August 22, 2008 at 4:57 pm

You won’t see Church again this season

Ceetar August 22, 2008 at 5:00 pm

at least wait 135 minutes to say that.

Nightlife August 22, 2008 at 5:01 pm

You wanna bet?

toomanyuniforms August 22, 2008 at 5:19 pm

Is my TV about to explode?

MetsFan4Decades August 22, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Welcome back, Ryan !

I just gets better and better…..

HoJoWright August 22, 2008 at 5:28 pm

I really hope he is healthy enough. That lineup does look nice with Murph and Church. can’t wait. Lets go METS…Johan

knickedge123 August 22, 2008 at 5:44 pm

about time robinson cancel went down. he calls a good game, but he really didnt do that much to warrant a spot in the big leagues, let alone the mets.

MyaGirl August 22, 2008 at 5:57 pm

Hey Everyone!
