Of course..I went to mlb.com and it's telling me it's Thursday and giving me Wednesday's scores and news..so the time warp thing might be reality.

Here's hoping that Glavine returns quickly from his surgery. I personally love him in a Braves uniform giving up one big inning after another and would love nothing more than him NOT realizing that it's time to give it up and retire. I hope he comes back for another year with the Braves. I want him killing their rotation for another year. It's just more payback for all those rotten years we had to deal with them when they used to mean something.

So Glavine, here's to a quick and speedy recovery!

Best wishes!

you didn't read what i said, which isn't surprising given the common level of intelligence on this blog. but don't listen to me. go to google, search for "baseball musings lineup analysis" and check it out yourself. i just did it with our usual lineup (reyes, a.reyes, wright, delgado, beltran, church, evans/murphy/, schneider, pitcher)

it predicted that we'd score about 4.9 rpg with that lineup. we're scoring about 4.9 rpg, so it looks like the program is right on (not to mention it's been proven to predict run scoring correctly)

the program attempts to optimize the lineup, and spits out a bunch of combinations of players with the theoretical output of the lineup. in the optimal lineup, the evans/murphy platoon would leadoff (i averaged their obp and slugging, which is .400 and .500, respectively), wright hits second, beltran, church, reyes, schneider/castro (averaged their production), argenis reyes, delgado, pitcher. delgado batting 8th is pretty much a result of his OBP not being that high, obviously you'd want to bat him higher. but that lineup would, in theory, produce over 5.1 runs per game. notice how it's not like our lineup at all, but the difference is 2 tenths of a run. that's about 32 additional runs (which is almost negligible because of luck, etc.). the "worst" lineup it came up with (the pitcher batting high in the order, wright batting ninth and so on), would score 4.7 runs per game. again, 2 tenths difference from our current production, and a negligible difference.
