Tonight’s Phillies starter, Brett Myers, pitched as well in August as he did badly in June. His strikeouts are about the same, but he’s cut his walks and home runs one quarter. His June ERA came in at 6.67. In August, it’s a mere 1.82.
The Braves streak of one-run losses on the road stands at 27. They last won against the Mets Aug. 9, 2007, a 7-6 victory. They are 6-25 overall in one run games this season, the worst record in the majors, 3 1/2 games worse than any other team.
Shawn Hill won’t be able to join the Nationals on September first as hoped. The Nats are now looking at a September 10th return. Hill’s high ERA may be a result of bad defense, since his home run and walk rates were good.
Freddi Gonzalez benched Dan Uggla on Sunday due to his poor second half performance. He’s supposed to return on Tuesday. On top of that, Cubs fans are blaming Dan for their loss of home field advantage in the World Series. Someone should remind Cubs fans they have to get there, first.

Lol @ Cubs fans.
we were doing the same thing in 2006
Well I seem to remember pretty consistent anti-Hoffman rancor back in 2006 for the same thing…
Me too.
I still hate the whole “this time it counts” thing.
Also, Billy probably had as much, if not more, of an impact on this years AS Game outcome than Ugglas hilarious performance.
oh, you beat me to it..
Uggla blew in the ASG. What did he do? 0-4, 3 Ks, DP, and 3 errors.
Every NL fan has to blame him for losing home field advantage. Let’s face it, Uggla sucks and is the Dave Kingman of second basemen.
that was pretty much the worst big-game performance I’ve ever seen, but he doesn’t suck. I’d take him over our 2B any day.
