  1. Ceetar says:

    Ugh..Easley.

    • Nightlife says:

Castillo has some decent numbers against Moyer, but in only 14 abs. I guess since Castillo wasn’t exactly doing great in the minors before he came back and maybe for the fact that want to ease him back in are reasons why he isn’t in there tonight. But yeah, I’d rather have Castillo in there instead of Easley tonight.

      • Ceetar says:

Guess Easley realizes he needs to play hard for playing time. Works for me. I just mean, Castillo would probably benefit from some regular playing time in a row.

    • swirlywand says:

Yeah!! UGH EASLEY….only if you’re a PHILLIES FAN!

It’s okay, I love it when I say “OH SH*T…ARON FREAKING HEILMAN…”…and then he makes me eat my words!

      LET’S GO METS!

  2. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

What does Church have to do to get slotted in the 2 hole? I know he’s a lefty, but I think he’s proved this season he can hit LHP.

  3. erik says:

It’s imperative Pedro gets off to a strong start. No first pitch home runs this game in other words

    • Ceetar says:

Dont’ care as long as they win.

      • erik says:

I have the same attitude. That being said, I don’t want to give the Phils any momentum early in the game, regardless of how “easy” it is to get runs in CBP. Pedro needs to set the pace with his pitching and the offense needs to put the hammer down enough so that the Mets BP can hold off the big Philly bats.

        • erik says:

I know it seems obvious to say things like that, but if the “experts” can say it, why can’t I?

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Similarly, I’d like the Mets to strike early. They don’t seem to score much when they don’t.

  4. zwnyr11 says:

Theres something about this lineup that i really like against the lefty Moyer. I just have a funny feeling that tatis and easley will have big games today.

  5. D in Ben Lomond says:

wow. this is the most power in the mets lineup i’ve seen all year.

I know delgado has been hot, but it might be nice to see Evans spell him against lefties once in a while… it can serve the purpose of giving us a big lefty bat for the bullpen and break of the tatis/evans lefty platoon issue.

    • Ceetar says:

Yeah..but you don’t spell him against Phillies. As bad as Manuel is, at least he’s not Charlie and his keeping Hamels from pitching against the Mets.

    • 911nafstem says:

Old Man River is due to get his butt kicked. Hopefully this is the day and Pedro will have enough veteran savvy to keep the Phillies lineup off balanced

  6. 911nafstem says:

Love the fact that Jerry is showing that he’ll still bat Easley against lefties.

    • Ceetar says:

You mean his stubbornness to play his lesser 2B against a division rival?

      • toomanyuniforms says:

Get over it. Easley has had some very big hits, and is much fresher than Castillo.

And while you’re at it, get over being dead wrong about the Willie firing.

        • Ceetar says:

Actually, I’m not dead wrong about the Willie firing. Manuel is merely right place right time.

Easley is fresher, and it’s the only reason to play him today, his performance not withstanding. Castillo needs the everyday play(which is why he should’ve been activated Saturday), because he’s flat out the best option down the stretch/playoffs, but maybe you wait until after the Phillies series.

Easley has earned another start tomorrow though, so it’s interesting to see what Manuel does with that.

      • Ryn05 says:

        lol

      • BlueCapsOnly says:

Why do you like Castillo so much? So he may have slightly better numbers, but he is a lazy player and can barely hit the ball out of the infield.

I have never seen anybody else turn more routine grounders into close plays.

        • kingman 26 says:

He has MUCH better numbers offensively than Easley or Reyes—check them out, you might be surprised…especially his numbers vs Easley’s, in many fewer AB.

And I wonder how the folks who think Castillo’s defense is “atrocious” thought he looked in the field last night??

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Um, sir? Castillo against lefties hasn’t been impressive. Numbers warped by 3 homers. Think he’s a power threat?

Also, diving stops don’t really mean much. It’s about range. Is he better than Easley defensively? Not this year.

Castillo should be starting, generally, but as he’s only 1 game off the DL, I have no problem at all playing Easley in this game.

        • kingman 26 says:

It’s about range, but diving stops don’t mean much?

Isn’t a diving stop an example of RANGE?

Nice start to tonight’s game, I am sure we can agree on that!!

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Depends on how much ground you cover before the dive, obviously.

        • kingman 26 says:

And I agree with you by the way that Easley is a good call tonight…I just think Slappy is better overall, but Easley against some lefties is cool.

        • Ceetar says:

Actually, I don’treally care for Castillo. I liked Reyes when he came up but he’s just not ready/fit for the majors. I’m not a big fan of Easley. It’s just that Castillo is a good player, and better than Easley, and helps the Mets the most. He’s not a lazy player at all, and sure Easley has some pop, but I’d rather Castillo’s better situational/RISP hitting.

  7. J0eSmiTh says:

ceetar, castillo looked pretty crappy yesterday, and Easley hits lefties.

  8. metsfan42793 says:

has anyone bought seats from shea stadium?

  9. Nightlife says:

Crap. I forgot I was going to have to listen to Harry Kalas tonight.

    *bullet to head*

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

I actually don’t mind Kalis, he is unique. Definitely light years ahaead of the Nats/Marlins/Pirates guys. He’s no Vin Scully though.

      • Nightlife says:

Unique in that he sounds as if he is having a stroke whenever the Phillies score a run?

        • toomanyuniforms says:

I can handle Kalas for slo-mo NFL Films recaps. A full baseball game? I feel like I have a pinecone in my throat just listening to him.

  10. MetsFan4Decades says:

Here we go. Fingers crossed for a strong outing from Pedro tonight.

    Let’s Go Mets !

  11. MetalMet says:

Castillo’s better stats just feel empty to me. As if he gets on base more often but to less effect. While Easley may do so less, when he does something it just seems to carry more weight than Castillo’s hits/walks. Easley at the very least has a shot of hitting a friggin’ sac fly.

  12. 911nafstem says:

    Nice Reyes!

  13. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

    Jose!

  14. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Go, Jose !!

  15. toomanyuniforms says:

    Eff you, old man!

  16. 911nafstem says:

    swing the BAT Easley

  17. Nightlife says:

    JOSE!!!!

  18. rM teM says:

    “touch em all”

  19. MetsFan4Decades says:

‘And the Mets take the early lead – again’.
    Good start !

  20. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Easley in the 2 hole, Jerry is a genius!

  21. 911nafstem says:

Damn, would’ve loved to have seen Castillo bunt in that spot

  22. toomanyuniforms says:

  23. EV says:

    Good start.

  24. BlueCapsOnly says:

All you Castillo lovers can turn off your internet now

  25. teufelshuffle86 says:

If only we can do this again in the 7th and 8th innings.

  26. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Yo, David.
Come on, Carlos. Get him in here.

  27. JoseReyesForPresident says:

    boy is he getting hit

  28. 911nafstem says:

come on Mets, send these frontrunning fans home early

  29. miker94 says:

hope the mets score a lot of runs tonight, cuz unfortunately if there is ONE pitcher on the mets staff that i wouldn’t want up tonight, it’s pedro. you just know he’s gonna give up a lot of runs.

  30. rM teM says:

I’m waiting for the eagles song
    “fly eagles fly…..”
    it is August after all.

  31. toomanyuniforms says:

Man, those 45 mph pitches must hurt!

  32. rM teM says:

    ha ha ha

  33. 911nafstem says:

    Nice, keep tacking, keep tacking

  34. MetsFan4Decades says:

    TATIS !!!

  35. BlueCapsOnly says:

Basesloaded == Mets Kryptonite, lets see if Superman can overcome it

  36. 911nafstem says:

    wow, that really sucked

  37. toomanyuniforms says:

    That’s our Tater. BAT AROUND!!!

  38. rM teM says:

show em where you live ramon

  39. 911nafstem says:

The Mets have one more out before Moyer becomes Cy Young, they better make it count

  40. erik says:

Do not swing at the first pitch!!! Run the old man’s pitch count up.

  41. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

We should have had more, let’s see if Pedro can keep ‘em off the board.

  42. CantGo2MyLeft says:

    Come on, Jamon Castro!

  43. EV says:

Shoot, we had a real good chance to blow it open.

  44. miker94 says:

damnit, not even CLOSE to being enough runs there…

  45. Nightlife says:

Would have liked more, but I’ll take it.

    Nice start.

  46. 911nafstem says:

Mets are going to pay for blowing that opportunity, unfortunately

  47. CaveManJoe says:

Could have really blow it up right there. Hope Pedro brought his A game… the phillies never give up.

  48. danlx13 says:

Pedro needs to get through the 1st inning with out too much damage

  49. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

wow that sucked. feel bad for church there you know hes frustrated and clearly still not where he wants to be swing wise.

  50. 911nafstem says:

yup, ohhh yeah are the Mets going to pay

  51. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

C’mon Pedro, at least it stayed in the park.

  52. therealsince86 says:

Bailed out Moyer there. Had him over 20 pitches and bases loaded 1 out. Then Church and Castro get 2 outs on 3 pitches.

  53. Nightlife says:

The Phillies guy just said Pedro only threw 2 pitches in his prime.

    Oh my god.

  54. rM teM says:

lets face it, Pedro’s been a bust

  55. BlueCapsOnly says:

Wow, Utley gets hit, that was a surprise. Utley couldn’t get out of the way of a snail if he saw it coming from 100 yards away.

  56. 911nafstem says:

Has Pedro ever won a big game for the Mets? Seriously?

  57. miker94 says:

church has one hell of an arm!

  58. JoseReyesForPresident says:

    .227 ? yiiiikes!

  59. BlueCapsOnly says:

I love it when Church shows off his arm

  60. Nightlife says:

    LOL Ryan Howard

Too bad we couldn’t get the strike ‘em out throw ‘em out.

  61. BlueCapsOnly says:

Hmm, an Utley hit by pitch and a howard K, who could have ever predicted that might happen.

  62. miker94 says:

honestly i can’t stand pedro, every pitch is scary

  63. MetsFan4Decades says:

    YES Pedro !!

  64. CaveManJoe says:

wow, WTG Pedro – nice way to come back and get Victorino!

  65. Nightlife says:

    Pedro!!!

  66. EV says:

All I can say is WHEW

  67. CaveManJoe says:

Anyone know anything about a FHA fixed rate loan?

  68. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Nice Petey!

  69. CaveManJoe says:

Atlanta is up 2-0 on Florida bottom 1st

  70. therealsince86 says:

Meet the new Pedro. It’s gonna take forever but he will just out smart the hitter. He is going to make a really good pitching coach one day if he wants it. Think about that AB. Lets Vicie think that he is pitching around him only to throw 3 straight changeups for strikes. LOL.

    • Nightlife says:

He still has some good stuff for sure and he is definitely a very, very smart guy. I think part of his problems adjusting not having his fastball anymore though is sometimes trying to get TOO smart, if thats possible.

  71. 911nafstem says:

Moyer is going to be unhittable the rest of this game, might as well take pitches

  72. MetsFan4Decades says:

    GOODBYE !!
    Damion gets it done.

  73. JessMets says:

    It’s outta here!

I’m sure Castillo coulda done that though….

  74. EV says:

Where are the clowns now who wanted Slappy Castillo starting?

  75. teufelshuffle86 says:

Damn, thought he popped that up to the SS. :D

  76. 911nafstem says:

god, Moyer looks like he shot puts the ball over home plate, how does he ever strike people out?

  77. X-Man says:

That’s the difference between having a “Slappy” hitter in the 2-hole or a ‘real” hitter that can actually get a hit!

  78. MetsFan4Decades says:

Not to debate the Easley starting vs. Castillo but Easley certainly looks like he is trying to prove Jerry is a genius tonight….

  79. rM teM says:

    he is a genious.
    as long as everyone’s hitting.

  80. fatburrell92 says:

Moyer makes Pedro look like a fireballer. lol

  81. BlueCapsOnly says:

What people don’t seem to understand is that the only thing keeping Castillo’s numbers better than Easley’s is the fact that Luis isn’t playing. If he was they would just keep going down.

  82. therealsince86 says:

Why does it have to be one way or the other guys? Easley is and will be an important member of this team this season. Castillo still has a chance to be. He does not hit for power (although his SLG is way better than A. Reyes) but he does field well enough and gets on base. Easley’s not going to play every game and will be important down the stretch as a pinch hitter too. Example RH starts and then Easley is ready to ph as soon as the LHRP comes in. That’s whats great about Easely and Tatis, they play multiple positions and can handle the bench as well.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

      Agreed.

    • X-Man says:

You are correct. But it’s still nice to have a “Real” hitter in the 2-hole instead of ‘Slappy”. Castillo will serve his purpose though, but this line-up is better with a true hitter hitting 2nd.

  83. 911nafstem says:

    shave your fruity goatee Werth

  84. rM teM says:

because we’re stuck we him, an average player for 4 years

    • therealsince86 says:

We have been stuck with a lot of average players over the years. Every player on the team does not have to be above average. It’s actually important to have some role players like Tatis, Easley, Castillo, Castro…..

  85. BlueCapsOnly says:

    Pedro is out craftying Moyer

  86. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Very, very nice.

  87. Nightlife says:

    Nice play by D-Easy.

    Good inning for Pedro.

  88. BlueCapsOnly says:

HA! The D is there too!

  89. kingman 26 says:

OK, Too Many Uniforms, Easley is making you look good tonight at the plate and in the field!!

    Duly noted!!

  90. cousinrk says:

Anyone wondering if this team was focused for this series? They are real sharp tonight. Its amazing how well they’ve played defensively since the All-Star break. And I refer you all to the first comment in this thread. To quote “ugh Easley”

    • 911nafstem says:

makes you wonder why they couldn’t have played with this focus at least one of the last 10 games they played against the Phillies last season

  91. BlueCapsOnly says:

If you haven’t noticed already I don’t like Castillo, but here is another point.

Castillo too often bunt’s with Reyes on first and no outs. Luis doesn’t hurt his stats in these stutuations, but in the end it is such a waste of an out

  92. EV says:

You slappy castillo lovers are nuts. Lets see Easley showed off his bat and glove tonight.

    • kingman 26 says:

Castillo showed off his glove last night.

A platoon might be excellent, a la Teufel/Backman.

      • X-Man says:

A good second baseman wouldn’t have even needed to dive for that play! LOL

      • BlueCapsOnly says:

Mark my words, Luis defense will start to be lazy again once his knees flare up again and he starts to pout about his playing time.

  93. L.E.S.metfan says:

Forget Slappy, Easley gets the job done when the Mets need it done.

  94. Nightlife says:

Its a pleasure to see the old man frustrated.

  95. zwnyr11 says:

tatis is about to go deep

  96. EV says:

    Amen LES.

  97. cousinrk says:

Of course when Easley was grounding into about 20 double plays in a row last week, there wasn’t a lot of love for Mr. E.

  98. JoseReyesForPresident says:

mets and phillies fans going at it in phillies nation is really comical

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Man, both sides of the fence are bad over there. Can’t believe half of them don’t get banned….

  99. 911nafstem says:

see, horrible umpiring goes the Mets way sometimes, not often, but sometimes

  100. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Fine, that makes up for the Marlon Anderson take out slide last year.

  101. rM teM says:

interesting, instant replay wouldn’t make a differance here

  102. 911nafstem says:

    YEAHHHH!

  103. zwnyr11 says:

    wow…..im on fire tonight

  104. MetsFan4Decades says:

    GOODBYE.
    Fernando sends it out !!!
    Keep piling it on, guys.

  105. rM teM says:

    Yeah Mets!

  106. c.1970 says:

Nice pair of Tatis on that guy!

  107. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

    TATIS!!!

  108. EV says:

TATIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who called it, someone did, got to give props to them.

  109. Jaded1983 says:

LOVE this lineup!!!!! i was just coming here to post about that when tatis knocked it out….keep it rolling guys!

    LETS GO METS!

  110. cousinrk says:

Wow 11 pitches and then he hits a bomb. That’s an incredible at bat by Tats. Love me some Tatis baby.

  111. teufelshuffle86 says:

    TATISED!!!!!!!!!!!!

  112. X-Man says:

    You called it zwnyr11 !!!!

  113. BlueCapsOnly says:

Thanks for the BP tonight Moyer

  114. teufelshuffle86 says:

Why do I still have a feeling the Phils will get the tying run to the plate tonight? Hope I’m dead wrong.

  115. 911nafstem says:

Mets need every run they can get cause the pen will be in for at least 3 innings tonight

  116. rM teM says:

    you’re dead wrong

  117. zwnyr11 says:

i hate to brag but before the game i said that it was a great call to start easley and tatis against the lefty.
    easley goes deep.
i called tatis’ shot before it happened
just doing whatevere i can to help the mets

  118. L.E.S.metfan says:

    Good job by Tatis!

  119. rM teM says:

    OK?

  120. therealsince86 says:

Let Pedro walk a steal here. Just as soon to have Reyes lead off next inning.

  121. BlueCapsOnly says:

awsome. Does everyone have a hit except Church And Castro?

  122. Tha Prowler says:

    tatis…with a TATTOOOO !!

  123. cousinrk says:

Well Pedro has really good stuff so if he can be a little more economical the next few innings maybe we can avoid too many innings from the pen. A little wishful thinking I know

  124. rM teM says:

    I hate this guy

  125. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Nice Pedro is getting a lot of swings and misses and moving the pitch around the strike zone.

  126. BlueCapsOnly says:

Wow, its like Pedro is telling the hitters what to swing at.

  127. 911nafstem says:

Rollins should be thrilled tonight, he’s padding his stats

  128. Nightlife says:

Gary Matthews is obsessed with the fact that Pedro would hit some guys in the past.

  129. therealsince86 says:

OMG Rollins’ hair fell out and his scalp turned red. What is going on up there?

  130. L.E.S.metfan says:

Well Taguchi won’t be hitting any game tying homeruns in the 9th

  131. rM teM says:

this lineup will really be poppin’ once
    moises alou comes back!!!!

  132. 911nafstem says:

wow, Pedro is dealing right now

  133. EV says:

    Yea Pedro!!!!!!

  134. MetsFan4Decades says:

Pedro might not be the pitcher he once was but he’s brought his A game and mind to this one tonight.

  135. Nightlife says:

    Pedro, looking niiiiiiice.

  136. X-Man says:

5 strike outs in three innings, not bad at all!

  137. X-Man says:

They better build a 10 run lead before they hand it over to the BP!

  138. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Plenty of time to get a double for the cycle!

  139. 911nafstem says:

ahhhhhh, Phillies are throwing out putrid pitching, the world is back on it’s axis

  140. EV says:

Again, where are the slappy castillo fans?

  141. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Easley !! Wow.

  142. Tha Prowler says:

    EEEEAAAASY E !!!!!
we got victorino runnin’ wild out in CF ….haha.

  143. cousinrk says:

    Oh its so soo Easley

  144. X-Man says:

God I miss Castillo, why the hell did Jerry play Easley for?

  145. rM teM says:

man, how can anyone hit a triple in that band box?

  146. JoseReyesForPresident says:

cmon david get your 100th rbi!!!

  147. MetsFan4Decades says:

    David Wright – 100 RBIs !!
    Congrats.

  148. jcervone7 says:

The Mets owe Victorino a fruit basket for the two triples he gave them. He’s gotta know when its over his head, hold up and play it off the wall.

  149. EV says:

    Finally 100 for D. Wright.

  150. CitizenSnips says:

    Wright 100 RBIs!

  151. 911nafstem says:

    I still don’t feel comfortable

  152. teufelshuffle86 says:

Easley a double away from the cycle!

  153. EV says:

I’m sure if slappy castillo was playing he would be putting up the same numbers as Easley tonight.

  154. X-Man says:

It would take him a MONTH to do what Easley is doing in one game!

  155. rM teM says:

    at twice the price

  156. JoseReyesForPresident says:

someone predicted this that easley and tatis were going to have big games and whoever you are you sir are weird

  157. mookie says:

Don’t get me wrong guys, I’m very excited that we are up 7-0, but do you guys still feel a little bit uneasy? I hate to have the feeling that 7-0 is not enough because of our crappy bullpen.

  158. 911nafstem says:

ugh, leadoff walks, do you really need to do that with a 7-0 lead?

  159. X-Man says:

I hate this little ‘rat” .

  160. rM teM says:

see that guy with the outrageous seat that’s holding
the radar gun? that’s the job i want

  161. EV says:

I can live with one run there. I guess there is a guy doing the same thing at shea?

  162. Nightlife says:

Good job by Pedro for not letting things get close.

  163. zwnyr11 says:

thats a MVP play all around. Rollins and Howard

  164. 911nafstem says:

great, another injury, what a week

  165. Nightlife says:

Ugh, just put Schneider in there.

  166. MetsFan4Decades says:

Uh, Oh…..Didn’t Castro go on the DL about this time last year?

  167. rM teM says:

see the wisdom of having 3 catchers? huh? huh?

  168. therealsince86 says:

Poor Castro. And there are people out there that want him to be our starting fulltime catcher.

  169. swirlywand says:

Applause! Applause! Phillies fans FINALLY handle METS injury on the field like normal humans…and didn’t boo hi…and from what I can tell on the tube, there were no crybaby chants either!
    Now, let’s go mets!

  170. Nightlife says:

Hopefully its not severe. I have a feeling that no matter what he was going to take Castro out of the game in that situation as he would have done with anyone else on our team in this game.

  171. EV says:

It’s a shame because castro is a pretty good player.

  172. EV says:

You got to be kidding me.

  173. 911nafstem says:

doubles by relief pitchers is always a great way to start off an inning

  174. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

All right, let’s not start giving them life.

  175. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Damn.

  176. metsomniac says:

    gulp

  177. EV says:

    Dammit!!!!

  178. Tha Prowler says:

    F U jimmy !!!

  179. 911nafstem says:

This is why I wasn’t comfortable with a 7-0 lead. Bullpen sucks, Pedro is unstable, and the Phillies can rake.

  180. JessMets says:

I knew there was a reason I didn’t feel comfortable back when it was 6-0.

  181. Nightlife says:

So, predictable, but will be all the more hilarious after the Phillies lose.

  182. 911nafstem says:

Mets need to score 12 runs to win this game

  183. CaveManJoe says:

    hereee we gooo

  184. X-Man says:

Mets Offense better not fall asleep. They need to tack on some more runs or it could be another in a long line of heart breakers.

  185. 911nafstem says:

4 innings of bullpen in CBP, good luck Mets

  186. EV says:

    Come on Pedro!!!!!

  187. CaveManJoe says:

    Time to yank pedro

  188. rM teM says:

stay calm everyone, remember, manual’s a genious

  189. Nightlife says:

    hahaha Burrell

  190. JessMets says:

    Oh no

  191. MetsFan4Decades says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOO

  192. EV says:

    PEDRO SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  193. rM teM says:

    hey genious….go get your ace

  194. Nightlife says:

    hahahaha at the Mets fan

  195. AngryFan says:

This is great…they had a 7-0 lead, and the game is as good as lost because we’ll be in our bullpen in the 6th.

    WORST
    CHOKERS
    EVER.

    F**king Un-Amazing

  196. rM teM says:

can we trade pedro for kevin mulvey?

  197. teufelshuffle86 says:

Did anybody really think the Mets were gonna win this game 7-0? I’m sure the Phillies pen will probably retire the next 12 hitters in a row.

  198. 911nafstem says:

I knew beating the Phils with Johan tomorrow was too good to be true

  199. AngryFan says:

If they lose this game, they’re gonna freefall to the finish, maybe play below .500 ball

The Phillies are a team to be respected for their fight and heart, the Mets choke.

    Sad.

    • Nightlife says:

      You need some Prozac?

      Puppy pictures?

      ……….

      kittens?

    • stickguy says:

crock of crap. Even if they lose another high scoring game in this house of horrors, it isn’t going to trash the rest of the season.

And how can a team with so much heart and fight be down 7-0 in the 3rd inning? Do they only decide to fight after getting way behind?

  200. JessMets says:

Who was it that said they were sure the tying run would come to the plate?

  201. WrightsRight says:

Anyone who thought this game was at hand with a 7-0 lead has been living under a rock for the past two years. It’s not hyperbole to suggest you’re not safe unless you have a double-digit lead in the 8th inning or later vs. this team.

Mets need to wake up from their 2 inning offensive slumber, piss in the stats that say they don’t score runs after the 6th inning and get their crap together RIGHT NOW.

  202. 911nafstem says:

The Mets bullpen is going to end up more shredded than the Phils.

  203. AngryFan says:

  204. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Now we have a meeting at the mound?

  205. 911nafstem says:

What has Pedro earned with the Mets exactly?

    • rM teM says:

besides a hell of a good living. remember when he valliantly said johan could be called the ace?
      pfft

  206. teufelshuffle86 says:

Any time you’re ready to get Pedro out of this game is fine by me.

  207. stickguy says:

Can th4 pen hold a 1 run lead?

Becasue odds are, the offense is done for the day, so the Mets are holding at 7.

  208. SantanaCYYOung says:

if the mets win this game, i’d be very surprised.

  209. WrightsRight says:

Back in the third inning, I could’ve sworn I heard the Wolf say, “let’s not start sucking each other’s d*cks quite yet…”

Never a more appropriate quote in the history of mankind…

  210. das2ble says:

shades of Grady Little right there…..

  211. 911nafstem says:

Ok, when Werth is stealing bases, someone is stealing signs

  212. AngryFan says:

So in his biggest start as a Met…….Pedro = FAILURE

Thanks Petey. Please sign elsewhere next season

    • SantanaCYYOung says:

right, there’s no way the mets sign him next year.

btw…the mets have alot of bad contracts coming off after this year:

      pedro 14-6mil?
      alou 8mil
      el duque 7 mil

that’s 29-31 mil for two to three players that really didn’t contribute much to this team

    • das2ble says:

      I’d give him a D-

He did not blow the lead which is why he did not get an F

  213. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    Choke much Mutts Fans??

  215. fatburrell92 says:

Citizens bank park is a joke.

  216. das2ble says:

what is sad about this is that that is pretty much the best he could do

  217. EV says:

Allright Pedro, at least he got us 5.

  218. CaseStreet says:

No need to worry, the Mets will score more runs. I’ve never seen a bunch of bigger cry babies. You’d think they lost the whole season with some of your reactions.

  219. washtiger says:

I’m not watching the game, following on Gameday.

Were the Phillie HR’s bombs, or typical CPB cheapies?

We better score more runs. No lead is safe in this bandbox!

  220. jimyager says:

    HERE WE GO AGAIN !!!!!

  221. 911nafstem says:

Now we can sit back and watch some clown named Condrey pitch like Bob Gibson

  222. SantanaCYYOung says:

    bunt him over easley

  223. Nightlife says:

    Question:

Is AngryFan the stupidest person alive?

  224. das2ble says:

Double for Easley right here to complete the cycle!

  225. EV says:

    Yea JOSE!!!!

  226. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

Reyes the whiner…..out at 1st by the NL MVP…..and NL EAST CHAMPIONS….
    BOO-YAH….

  227. grmetsfan says:

Man their fans are annoying, you would have thought they hit a walkoff homerun in game 7 of the NLCS.

  228. Flushing_is_Burning says:

more runs more runs…. you can’t hand a 2 run lead to this bullpen with 4 innings to go

  229. EV says:

What did they do in the playoffs last year, get SWEPT by the Rockies in the first round lol.

    • MrDudeAndStuff says:

Because we know had the Mets limped into the playoffs they were going to beat the Rockies, right?

Nobody was beating the Rockies in the NL Playoffs, you dolt.

  230. SantanaCYYOung says:

    called it

  231. 911nafstem says:

WOW, Easley is now outbunting Castillo

  232. Nightlife says:

    Alright D-EASY!!!

  233. das2ble says:

Easley is having a heck of a game

  234. SantanaCYYOung says:

    this is the time drwight

  235. EV says:

    Yea Damon!!!!

  236. el_giacomo says:

    Nice bunt single!

  237. fatburrell92 says:

come on lets get these runs back!

  238. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Let’s get a couple back!!!!

    LET’S GO METS!!!!

  239. 911nafstem says:

like I said, 12 runs is the mark the Mets need to get to to win

  240. das2ble says:

Sweet! Bring in Eyre! His ERA is so huge, you’d think he be on our team (but he isnt!)

  241. SantanaCYYOung says:

    double steal?

  242. rM teM says:

kieth practically voted him in the hof, let’s see what he does

  243. Repeat 86 says:

how many fastballs can you foul off

  244. rM teM says:

    tension here

  245. SantanaCYYOung says:

  246. kevinz says:

    Come on, Carlos!

  247. rM teM says:

    sheet

  248. Repeat 86 says:

now we need a double steal

  249. Airfeet says:

I feel like Wright is the worst player on the team to have up with a runner in scoring position

  250. 911nafstem says:

at least the Yankees are losing

  251. SantanaCYYOung says:

the mets need to score to change the momentum of the game

  252. Repeat 86 says:

something scares me about beltran in the clutch, I don’t know about you guys

  253. rM teM says:

i’m starting to like this geico kid as much as guiseppi franco

  254. SantanaCYYOung says:

    no confidence in beltran

  255. Repeat 86 says:

    omg easley

  256. SantanaCYYOung says:

    why didn’t easley follow?

  257. Airfeet says:

Delgado is gonna have more RBI than Wright at the end of the season mark my words

  258. SantanaCYYOung says:

    please carlos, please

  259. 911nafstem says:

    NOOO NOT BASES LOADED!

  260. Repeat 86 says:

just the man you want in the clutch

  261. kevinz says:

    bases loaded. lets go delgado!!

    hope beltran’s okay.

  262. Nightlife says:

Delgado has good numbers vs. this guy, come on Carlos!!!!

  263. rM teM says:

    trying too hard

  264. Repeat 86 says:

    put it in play

  265. 911nafstem says:

unreal, GOD this team sucks with the bases juiced. just a pathetic at bat

  266. kevinz says:

well, who didn’t see that coming?

  267. SantanaCYYOung says:

game over, mets’ll lose this one

  268. JessMets says:

No way are we winning this game.

  269. kevinz says:

It’s like the month of May all over again.

  270. Repeat 86 says:

took beltran long enough to get to second

  271. WrightsRight says:

I would take that Beltran HBP back right now…

  272. 911nafstem says:

How long before the Mets blow the lead, an inning? 2/3 of an inning?

  273. Repeat 86 says:

some depressing mets fans on here

  274. Airfeet says:

This team is SO bad with bases loaded and Wright is so bad with RISP…I feel like Tatis is our only clutch player

  275. teufelshuffle86 says:

Way to work the count Delgado.

  276. therealsince86 says:

That had to be the slowest DP I have ever seen.

  277. L.E.S.metfan says:

That guy Eyre was fired up.

  278. SantanaCYYOung says:

that wright at bat was a killer, that could be the game right there

  279. Nightlife says:

Well, Bullpen, time to prove something other than sucking.

  280. 911nafstem says:

only in CBP can a 2 run lead feel like you’re behind

  281. AngryFan says:

    What’s Wright’s signature move?

Failing in the clutch and then throwing his bat in frustration.

There must be a ledge nearby calling your name, angryNONfan……

  287. AngryFan says:

Honestly, how can this team have any fans left?

    THEY’RE GUTLESS

  288. fatburrell92 says:

Put Johan Santana in the game. Screw tomorrow!

  289. Repeat 86 says:

i think stokes shuts the door this inning

  290. danlx13 says:

1st and 2nd NO OUTS!!!!! heart of the order 3,4,5 up and NO runs score…that is just horrible

Mets still got the lead, and phillies have no real momentum.
    LETS GO METS!!!

  293. danlx13 says:

  294. fatburrell92 says:

our season is gonna be ruined again by Jimmy Rollins. God dam*it.

  295. SantanaCYYOung says:

if its any consolation, arod just had the same situation as delgado and did the exact same thing

here comes the two run homer

  296. Repeat 86 says:

now we in trouble show in bp

  297. AngryFan says:

    Here’s a 2 run BOMB by Utley

  298. SantanaCYYOung says:

  299. 911nafstem says:

jesus, Stokes looks like his fastball is straight as an arrow

  319. rM teM says:

    see you all tomorrow everyone.
    goodnight

  320. fatburrell92 says:

we need some add on runs. We still need to get 9 outs, a 2 run lead is not good enough.

  321. danlx13 says:

Show for the 7th vs the lefties
Heilman for the 8th??? dont know who else to trust
    Ayala for the 9th

  322. Repeat 86 says:

    • Andrew says:

Maybe we can bring Pelfrey in to pitch?

      Every day?

    • Nightlife says:

I would actually have an easier time going to sleep before the pen comes in with a lead. That way I won’t have the imagines of the runs crossing the plate and the sound of Harry Kalas having a stroke.

  323. EV says:

Damn pitch to Tatis looked like Ball 4.

  324. fatburrell92 says:

If this game was at Shea I would be a lot more confident but in this park anything can happen.

  325. 911nafstem says:

why why why does the Mets bats just stop hitting at a certain point in a game, it doesn’t matter what scrub is thrown out against them, they just go to sleep

    • Repeat 86 says:

if our bp could hold a lead would we complain about the offense in late game stiuations

  326. fatburrell92 says:

wow this game is long we’re only in the 7th and it’s already 10 o’ clock.

    • Nightlife says:

Yeah, these rivalry games can be like that. At least not every single one is a 12 hour game like Yanks-Red Sox.

    • Andrew says:

Yeah, I was wondering when I turned it on in the 5th and it was already like 9:20 or so if there had been a rain delay… or if Steve Trachsel was pitching.

  327. Repeat 86 says:

    stokes still out there?

  328. SantanaCYYOung says:

    stokes still in? balls

  329. Repeat 86 says:

what the hell is a left handed specialist for?

  330. fatburrell92 says:

wow, stokes is still in there. I’m surprised, maybe they’re only gonna use show to turn around victorino.

  331. SantanaCYYOung says:

    come on one more

  332. Nightlife says:

    Stokes doing his thang.

  333. fatburrell92 says:

sweet Victorino out on 1 pitch.

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Don’t worry, he’ll be up again in the 9th and will probably work a 16 pitch walk.

  334. Repeat 86 says:

even though he is doing ok, it still doesn’t make any sense unless he is planning on using them in the ninth when they are up again

  335. SantanaCYYOung says:

if he gets this out i’d throw him back out there

  336. MetsFan4Decades says:

The anticipation of every pitch is killing me.
And there are 7 more outs to go. Ugh….

  337. SantanaCYYOung says:

    keep him in there???

  338. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

    Huge 3 outs there.

    Brian Stokes

    Merely man???

    or

    Man of the Century???

  342. Repeat 86 says:

anyone feeling a big jimmy rollins at bat coming either next inning or the ninth

  343. teufelshuffle86 says:

Nice inning by Stokes. Who pitches the 8th?

  344. MetsFan4Decades says:

Thank God Stokes getting it done so far tonight….

  345. fatburrell92 says:

Id say put Stokes back in for the 8th, and if he gets through it with ease, put him back in the 9th.

  346. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

2 more runs, that will make my blood pressure drop tremendously.

  347. Repeat 86 says:

  352. SantanaCYYOung says:

    not duaner

  353. Repeat 86 says:

if he brings out duaner we are losing this game

  354. Andrew says:

Oh god Sanchez is warming up.

    Someone hold me.

(Someone female, preferably. Do we have those here?)

  355. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

    Duaner? Oh boy.

  356. Jefferies 9 says:

    OOOO Why Sanchez Why !!!!

  357. Repeat 86 says:

a philly radio station said that the mvp of the phillies this year is duaner

  358. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Sanchez ????
    omg is right.

  359. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Maybe Jerry will go batter by batter with Duaner. As soon as one batter gets on, yank him.

  360. MetsFan4Decades says:

Come on, Easley – PLEASE ???

  361. Repeat 86 says:

    reyesis making this too close

  362. MetsFan4Decades says:

Reyes is giving me a heart attack here.

  363. Repeat 86 says:

i wonder if he wants to steal

  364. Repeat 86 says:

    good job reyes

  365. Andrew says:

    Jose Jose Jose Joseeeeeeeeee….

  366. SantanaCYYOung says:

now that is a ML stolen base

  367. Nightlife says:

    JOSE!!!

  368. Repeat 86 says:

    anyone think he swepts third

  369. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Why does the bullpen look barely interested in the game?

  370. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

It’s about that time Wright improves his .250 BA with RISP.

  371. SantanaCYYOung says:

the mets bullpen looks scared…another huge ab by david

  372. Repeat 86 says:

ok lets try this double steal thing again, this time with easley going

  373. gomets6091 says:

I really love Jose Reyes sometimes

  374. Repeat 86 says:

    durbin looks rattled

  375. Airfeet says:

can Wright get a base hit ONE time?????????

  376. Repeat 86 says:

    wow

  377. Airfeet says:

I swear half of Wrights RBIs are sac flies…

  378. EV says:

    Wright has killed us tonight.

  379. SantanaCYYOung says:

that’s why wright is not an mvp and why this team does nothing late in games

  380. Jefferies 9 says:

    Mr. Clutch strikes again

  381. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Crap.
Looks like we’re doing this the hard way and relying on the BP to pitch 2 scoreless innings…

  382. grmetsfan says:

Wright and Church have been brutal at the plate today.

  383. Andrew says:

That is truly unbelievable. Come on, Wright.

  384. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    oh boy

  385. L.E.S.metfan says:

2 double plays. Good job David!

  386. teufelshuffle86 says:

way to go davey. Here comes Sanchez, this should be fun.

  387. Repeat 86 says:

i was just thinking durbin was going to throw a “get me over fastball” and wright has a good chance to smoke one. Well i got half of it right…

  388. WrightsRight says:

why in christ’s name is he swinging at the first pitch there? why?

  389. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    dirty sanchez?

    we r in trouble

  390. gomets6091 says:

wow, that just made me sick to my stomach

  391. 911nafstem says:

I don’t care how many RBIs Wright has, the guy pulls an AROD in more key spots than any other Met

  392. Airfeet says:

Im sick of hearing how Wright might be an MVP candidate and Reyes isnt…Reyes THIS season has had a by FAR better year

  393. WrightsRight says:

mets make it wayyyyyyy too easy on other teams by this lack of plate discipline.

  394. VenturaHighway says:

The Met offense is narcoleptic. Full steam ahead, and then, without warning, zzzzzz…. It’s almost funny, in a masochistic sort of way. Oh well, two more innings…time to start praying.

  395. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Wright against righties hasn’t been too good this year. What happened to his natural “go the other way” stroke?

  396. slachs says:

Strong starting pitching and the best run differential in the league innings 1-3.

Lousy bullpen and lack of late inning clutch hitting.

    Your 2008 New York Mets.

  397. 911nafstem says:

should’ve just let Stokes keep going

  398. wa2k99 says:

    Oh boy I am nervous

  399. Andrew says:

The bright side of this is that if we can get through this inning with the lead, Ayala has monster career numbers vs. the Phillies.

  400. X-Man says:

I hope I’m wrong, I really do. But Sanchez is where we lose this game.

  401. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

C’mon Duaner, you’ve got 2 easy outs to work with to start off.

  402. WrightsRight says:

i see the point of waiting for a get-me-over-fastball but in this situation, in this game, against this team with our bullpen, you MUST have those tack-on runs. Every one counts. No pitch should be taken for granted. He should not have swung there. That is brutal plate discipline.

    • Repeat 86 says:

if you can’t have your three hole swing at a get me over fastball than you really dont have a playoff team do you

  403. Repeat 86 says:

turn the channel if you have a weak stomach

  404. 911nafstem says:

Sometime it’s like the Mets lineup is daring the Mets bullpen to blow the game

  405. teufelshuffle86 says:

Why is Feliciano warming up and not Schoe?

  406. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    *gulp*
    Let’s go Dirty!!!

  407. 911nafstem says:

    here we go…..

  408. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

No Feliciano, please don’t do it.

  409. Jefferies 9 says:

So does Feliciano give up a walk or a double ?

  410. gomets6091 says:

    and here we go

  411. 911nafstem says:

I love when Manuel starts taking out the pitchers after every at bat, it NEVER backfires!

  412. teufelshuffle86 says:

    IT’S FELICIANO TIME!!!!!!

  413. slachs says:

Where’s Turk Wendell when you need him???

  414. Nightlife says:

    Bullpen finish doing your thang!

  415. gomets6091 says:

the Phillies should really find that cab driver from Miami and sign him to a public relations fee

  416. PAPDOG67 says:

1 out, 1 single. I guess that’s a success for some of our guys.

  417. MetsFan4Decades says:

Taking a deep breath AND covering my eyes…….

  418. Repeat 86 says:

solid outing by duaner, two batters-one hit, why continue with this guy, just start the inning off with smith

  419. teufelshuffle86 says:

Braves have the bases loaded w/ 2 out in the 8th, down 2. Chipper at the plate.

  420. 911nafstem says:

When the Mets blow this game the bullpen will get the brunt of the criticism, but once again, the lineup will have failed to put the stake through the heart of the other team

    • gomets6091 says:

while you’re certainly right, you really can’t get mad at the offense when they score 7 runs. Your pitching staff needs to win that game…

  421. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    like clockwork…

  422. Jefferies 9 says:

    Great !!!

  423. 911nafstem says:

it’s like fcking clockwork, ok Manuel, bring in the next loser specialist

  424. slachs says:

This is the season right here. Seriously.

  425. Repeat 86 says:

what i say about rollins going to have a big at bat

  426. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

im gonna lose it if rollins hits a hr

    going to go absolutely nuts

  427. Airfeet says:

its messed up how this wont even be the worst loss of the year yet we were up 7-0

  428. 911nafstem says:

the Philly fans cheering Rollins after going 4-4. You gotta at least appreciate the irony

  429. gomets6091 says:

I will sell my soul for a Rollins Double Play here

  430. teufelshuffle86 says:

Well, here we go. Tying run at first. You’d think we’d be used to this by now.

  431. danlx13 says:

    F”CKKKKKKKKK

  432. JessMets says:

Ugh it was only a matter of time….

  433. 911nafstem says:

    game over

  434. X-Man says:

LOL, it’s so predictable that it’s come to the point that all you can do is just simply laugh. LOL

  435. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

all i have to say is 7-1

  436. Repeat 86 says:

like we couldnt see this coming

  437. SantanaCYYOung says:

game over, let’s hope for a split

i wish david is watching how rollins hits in the clutch

  438. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Sigh…..

  439. 911nafstem says:

David Wright couldn’t shine Chipper’s shoes

  440. wa2k99 says:

    It never changes.

  441. the_other_matt says:

This is a joke right? One of you guys is messing with my satellite feed, right?

  442. VenturaHighway says:

We were up by 7 with 17 outs left to get in this game before Feliz’s sac fly. Just sayin’

  443. fatburrell92 says:

it is an absolute disgrace how failures like these make over a million bucks a year.

  444. SantanaCYYOung says:

    where is showenweis?

  445. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    BOO-YAH!!!

    CHOKE MUCH MUTTS FANS?

  446. Bill Pitt says:

Feliciano is worthless. I want to turn off the game every time he comes in.

  447. 911nafstem says:

7-0, 7 to FCKING 0. Just beyond words how disgraceful this is

  448. PAPDOG67 says:

What is the bias against Shoeneweis??? I’m tired of Felatio constantly failing lately.

  449. SantanaCYYOung says:

why not just leave stokes in?

  450. Repeat 86 says:

lucky we have heilman for extra innings

  451. teufelshuffle86 says:

Seriously, how many games does Feliciano have to blow before he gets DFA’d? 20? 25? Jesus Christ.

  452. BlueCapsOnly says:

    i hate this…why you f-cks why!

  453. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Well, need to split this series. This game is over, so hopefully Santana has his good stuff working tomorrow.

    • 911nafstem says:

it’s just delaying the inevitable, the Mets are winning the division with this bullpen, they’re just not

  454. Flushing_is_Burning says:

wow a 7-0 lead at one point to THIS!! simply amazin’!

  455. VelvetFoot says:

    Depressing

  456. dwrightisgod says:

it amazes me how this pen can not get anyone out

i thought a broken clock is right 2x a day

  457. capthr says:

WHY IS FELICIANO ON THIS TEAM!!!!!!

  458. VelvetFoot says:

So much for the bullpen rest doing any good.

  459. 911nafstem says:

    yaaaaay, whatever, blow me Feliciano

  460. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

My life just flashed before my eyes.

  461. Repeat 86 says:

wow, utley can’t hit feliciano for crap, his swings look horrible

  462. uppertank says:

    Pedro Cantinflas

  463. SantanaCYYOung says:

pat burrell, might as well be chipper jones

  464. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    1 more please…

Joe Smith, just once step up big time, we need ya to kid

  465. wa2k99 says:

Oh my God what a K!

  466. X-Man says:

If the straters don’t go at least 7, it’s now a GUARANTEED LOSS with this PATHETIC BP!

  467. metsfan42793 says:

this game reminds me of the 9 run lead in july that we almost blew.

  468. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Johan needs to go at least 8 tomorrow.

  469. 911nafstem says:

wild pitch, tie game, book it, stamp it, send it to me I’ll autograph it, it’s what’s going to happen

  470. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Gary – ‘It’s a nail biter’.
NAIL BITER??? That wouldn’t exactly be my description of this game at this point…..

  471. Tha Prowler says:

this game has WALK OFF HIT in the bottom of tha 9th written allllllllll over it.

  472. danlx13 says:

We were up by 7 runs with 17 outs left to get in this game before th phils scored..
those #s seem familiar to u??? like last yr 7 games up with 17 games to play

  473. the_other_matt says:

Group Prayer: Dear (Enter god of choice here):
Please grant Joe Smith the power to get Pat Burrell out. I swear I won’t play with myself tonight if he does.

  474. SantanaCYYOung says:

i’m sweating and all i’ve been doing is sitting for the last 3.5 hours

  475. capthr says:

How many runners left on base by DW
    Joe Smith……ohoho I can’t watch

  476. Repeat 86 says:

get it to luis in the the ninth with the lead

  477. dwrightisgod says:

gotta be someone in the minors that can pitch better than joe and the rest of these idiots

  478. 911nafstem says:

does anyone seriously not see a wild pitch here?

    • MetsFan1976 says:

Obviously it didn’t happen, but I thought a wild pitch was coming, too.

Oh, geez! One run lead. Howard, Victorino, and Werth.

Come on Ayala…be the savior we need you to be!

  479. foul bunt strikeout says:

wow, the mets should have free ulcer medicine night when they come home….this is too much and to happen during my fantasy football draft

  480. therealsince86 says:

Interesting strategy by Manuel using Sanchez and Feliciano. Both of which are guarnteed to put runners on base. Why not go with Show and Smith to start with?

  481. metsfan42793 says:

    JEEZUS SMITH

  482. capthr says:

    yankees lost

  483. dwrightisgod says:

we’ve done a great job holding runners on

  484. 911nafstem says:

the Phillies are stealing signs, period

  485. SantanaCYYOung says:

    one more strike

  486. 911nafstem says:

they should make the Mets bullpen have sex with that fat Philly fan after the game

  487. MetsFan4Decades says:

Come on, Smith. One more strike here.

  488. metsfan42793 says:

i annot beieve our most trusten pitcher in the bullpen is ayala

  489. washtiger says:

    I hate that SOB Rollins.

Would like to see someone plant a fastball right in the ribs…

  490. SantanaCYYOung says:

    i almost died watching tv

  491. danlx13 says:

WOW all i can say is WOOOOOOWW

  492. Wright88 says:

    omg…my heart hurts….

  493. sandiegometsman says:

This is brutal to watch on the internet…. This is the same old song and dance… Absolutely disgusting..

  494. Repeat 86 says:

love those phillies fans thinking it was a homer

  495. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Oh My God………..

Did my heart start beating again?????

  496. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

    Everyone check your shorts.

  497. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

the gary cohen jynx was 5 ft away from being again

burell just hit wtp on an outside slider wow

  498. WrightsRight says:

    my goodness…

  499. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    o god i can’t breath!

  500. Jefferies 9 says:

    Whew !!!

  501. EV says:

WOW that was WAY TOO CLOSE

  502. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Well, the 9th is Howard, Victorino, and Werth. Might as well be Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Mickey Mantle.

  503. L.E.S.metfan says:

    GOOOOOOOOOO JOE!!!!!!!!!

  504. slachs says:

All I want for xmas this year is two insurance runs.

    Please dammit.

  505. JoseReyesForPresident says:

i never been so nervous in my life…

  506. gipper82475 says:

Somebody call EMS……I need an defribulation after that.

  507. Wright88 says:

Btw, anyone else think Show should start the ninth?

    • SantanaCYYOung says:

      i do

    • MetsFan1976 says:

I am fine with Ayala coming in to start the ninth–but I sure as hell would’ve preferred Show in the spot that Feliciano came in. Does somebody need to tell Manuel that Feliciano has been struggling?

  508. PAPDOG67 says:

I’ll be right back, I have to go change my boxers. I think I just had an accident.

  509. SantanaCYYOung says:

can we get some dam runs please!

    not to Mr. Carlos Beltran:

You said, “To Jimmy Rollins: We are the team to beat.”

    Now back it up!

  510. MetsFan1976 says:

I love our announcers, Gary Cohen included, but if that ball hit by Burrell had gone out, I would have had to kill Gary for making the comment that Burrell had struggled getting two-out RBIs for three months only seconds earlier! :D

    • shiprdr19 says:

You beat me to the punch. I CAN’T STAND how Cohen always has to slip those comments in right before things blow up. He is a jinx. Keep your mouth SHUT Gary!!!!!

  511. Repeat 86 says:

they showed a stat that the phillies have about an 85% success rate stealing bases, its crazy

  512. gomets6091 says:

I’ve spent the last 2 minutes trying to come up with a clever way to say I just had a heart attack, but instead I’ll just say…whew

  513. WrightsRight says:

I just seriously dislike feliciano…he has become completely useless…those numbers vs. the first batter he faces were ridiculous.

  514. teufelshuffle86 says:

Please get Pedro Feliciano off this team TOMORROW!!!! If Heilman comes in for the 9th I’m going to hang myself. Thanks God Wagner isn;t around to close this one out.

  515. washtiger says:

Can we please score an insurance run, or two, or three in the 9th?

  516. danlx13 says:

i think Show should come in to start the 9th vs howard and victorino

  517. 911nafstem says:

how about scoring another run, is that freaking possible?

  518. metsfan42793 says:

    exit smith enter ayala

  519. Wright88 says:

    Hit it to 3rd base!

  520. teufelshuffle86 says:

At least try and work the count!!!!

  521. fatburrell92 says:

Even if we lose this it’s not the end of the world. The Mets have bounced back from numerous bad losses this season. And we got Johan going tomorrow. The final series at shea will decide much more.

  522. WrightsRight says:

    Batzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  523. SantanaCYYOung says:

    beltran and wright are clutchless

  524. danlx13 says:

cant be thinking that ayala is an automatic.

  525. 911nafstem says:

Face it, this offense is a joke, it’s all up to Ayala. He’s still pure. He’s truly our only hope out of all this patheticness

    • Wright88 says:

I don’t like Ayala vs. Howard. Bring in Show to start it out.

      • 911nafstem says:

On paper, you’re right, but Schoe is a loser and at least we’ve seen Ayala get big outs

        • Wright88 says:

Yea, but as much as I like Ayala I’m not ready to say he is back where he was a couple of years ago. Go with the lefty, nobody can kill Manuel is Show gives up the HR but it Ayala gives it up I think you leave yourself open to a lot of second guessing.

  526. Repeat 86 says:

    bad at bat

  527. the_other_matt says:

Church should go to the plate wearing an Albert Pulhos mask.

  528. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

That at bat by Delgado was a throwback from April and May.

  529. slachs says:

Beltran groundout, Delgado wild swinging K.

    Shocker!!!

  530. SantanaCYYOung says:

the philly bullpen has held the mets to 1 run in 6 innings, none in the last 5…unreal

  531. Tha Prowler says:

WTF happened to tha friggin’ bats ?????? somebody got voodoo dolls of our team.

  532. Repeat 86 says:

what the hell does he write in that notebook of his, nothing useful obviously

  533. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

I might have considered bringing in Endy to drop a bunt.

  534. teufelshuffle86 says:

Can anybody on this team work a count after the 7th inning? Two more atrocious ABs.

  535. fatburrell92 says:

If only the Mets had Brad Lidge

  536. sandiegometsman says:

I’m not watching the game out here in Cali. but i’m getting nervous by just reading these blogs… Im freaking out here….

  537. MetsFan4Decades says:

Well here we go. Can Ayala get 3 lousy outs here?

  538. 911nafstem says:

GREAT JOB METS!!!! could they have made that any easier, seriously?

  539. SantanaCYYOung says:

has lidge given up a run all year?

  540. Repeat 86 says:

    this should be interesting

  541. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

if ayala goes 1-2-3 in the 9th i will have huge confidence in him

  542. teufelshuffle86 says:

Braves mounting a late comeback, down 9-8 in the 9th. All three fans at the game are ecstatic!

  543. Tha Prowler says:

cmon they made lidge look like friggin’ dennis eckersely. swingin at stoooopid sh it.

  544. SantanaCYYOung says:

    i can’t watch

  545. methead says:

Wow…the mets look dead now. Scared. Thank god Ayala is new…or else I would say this game is lost. Then again….He is due for a bad outing.

Hang on guys….this is going to be a ride!

  546. EV says:

    Everyone fasten your seatbelts.

  547. L.E.S.metfan says:

Here’s where Ayala shows us what he’s really got!!

  548. slachs says:

Most important save of the season right here. Without question.

And you know what? I am GLAD Wagner is injured.

  549. gomets6091 says:

I wish Albert Pujols had hit that ball just a little further in ‘05, I think that would have destroyed Lidge forever. Oh well…

  550. teufelshuffle86 says:

I really don’t like Jason Werth up late in the game.

  551. Repeat 86 says:

    nervous…

  552. Flushing_is_Burning says:

way to add on runs!! jeezzz
I hate Lidge or secretly want him to be a Met, I haven’t decided yet.

  553. WrightsRight says:

    Batzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  554. sandiegometsman says:

why can’t we score run towards the end of the games?… I swear to God, this is Ground Hogs Day…. Its like every other game at the end of last year… I’m getting sick watching Yahoo game channel. i feel like tossing my computer right now…. We’d better hang on or this Mets fan may throw a hissy fit…..

  555. Repeat 86 says:

anyone surprised if victorino doesnt get on?

  556. 911nafstem says:

If Ayala pulls off this save, which he won’t, I want him as closer Wagner or no Wagner

  557. VelvetFoot says:

    that was quick

  558. dwrightisgod says:

its hilarious that the pen is so bad that ayala is already the closer

  559. Repeat 86 says:

    nasty pitch

  560. Wright88 says:

    Scary pitch right there..

  561. danlx13 says:

i just realized that we have to stop blaming the bullpen…if everyone hit and scored a few runs late in games the bullpen would have a little bit more to work with

  562. WrightsRight says:

i can’t take it….i’m going to watch Hillary’s speech with my wife…much rather suffer through that than the Mets bullpen.

  563. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

No walks. No walks. No walks.

  564. SantanaCYYOung says:

guys help me out, can’t watch let me know what’s going on

  565. dwrightisgod says:

    haha jesus

  566. Repeat 86 says:

    holy crap

  567. danlx13 says:

    HOLY F(#!$*#$ SH$#@*$#@($@

  568. 911nafstem says:

    jesus, I can’t take this, I really can’t

  569. Wright88 says:

    omfg….living so dangerously

  570. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Whew !!!
    My heart cannot take this.

  571. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Wow, CBP is just big enough for that one.

  572. Repeat 86 says:

    i thought it was gone

  573. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

only the mets would give up that shot.

doesnt matter just a long out folks

speaking of hear attacks last inning, this was worse

  574. 911nafstem says:

Great, now this rat bastard is up

  575. wa2k99 says:

Kalas sounded like his heart was ripped out.

  576. Repeat 86 says:

    one long out

  577. 911nafstem says:

    where the hell was that!?!

  578. teufelshuffle86 says:

Can a met reliever ever get ahead of a hitter? Is that asking too much?

  579. gomets6091 says:

can we please get some ground balls? My heart can’t take another fly ball to the track

  609. MetsFan4Decades says:

  617. WrightsRight says:

I know how that Mets fan they just showed on SNY feels.

I just scared the crap out of my dog with my reaction to that one.

  623. gomets6091 says:

    of course

  624. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    BOOOOOO—-YAAAAHHHHH!!!!

    MUTTS CHOKERS

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

You are really obsessed with the Mets dude. Just can’t get the mets out of your head can ya? It’s okay, it’s understandable.

      • Two-By-Four says:

He lives to torture other fans. There are some at every board. It’s best to ignore them.

  625. teufelshuffle86 says:

Well, no way the Mets are winning this game.

  626. Wright88 says:

damnit…make a freaking play. Both Easley and Schneider

  627. sandiegometsman says:

oh my God…im gonna slit my wrists..

  628. Repeat 86 says:

  629. SantanaCYYOung says:

    who cares

  630. WrightsRight says:

Omar: “well, the reason we got Brian Schneider is his all-star defense.”

  631. teufelshuffle86 says:

Stupid play to try and throw him out. Now the winning run is at second.

  632. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nice play, Reyes.
    But will it really matter??????

  633. Tha Prowler says:

    jose nice …………….rifle arm gets em’…….FCUK tho……..

  634. Repeat 86 says:

    that game was over

  635. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    reyes= MVP

say what you want i dont care anymore

    • SantanaCYYOung says:

who cares, the mets will lose this game anyway, not once have they proved us wrong

it’ll take at least 5 innings for this team to score another run

  636. gomets6091 says:

why does it seem like we never throw guys out at the plate? Remember the Astros game a few weeks ago?

  637. 911nafstem says:

why does God hate the Mets, seriously?

  638. the_other_matt says:

Hi I’m David Wright of the New York Mets. Come to Citi Field and watch me hit into a double play at a crucial point in the game.

  639. Repeat 86 says:

well i will say it now, Ayala welcome to the pen

  640. EV says:

Schneider has got to make that play.

  641. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

Congrats to Eric Bruntlett for being crappy back-up number 100 to get a big hit off the mets bullpen this year

  642. WrightsRight says:

well, the great thing is that this team’s offense is so great in the late innings….

  643. Wright88 says:

    Great…who’s left in the pen?

  644. washtiger says:

    How many blown saves now?

How many bases loaded situations that come up empty?

Can we win this thing in extra innings?

    SH*T!

  645. krispy644 says:

    UN……FREAKING…..BELIEVABLE!!!!

    P.S.: THANK U REYES

NOW EXCUSE ME WHILE I GO VOMIT FOR THE 4TH STRAIGHT TIME…….

  646. methead says:

Unbelievable. Ayala. He looked good and lets a punk like Bruham a hit. then Scheider can’t catch the ball. WTF

Why couldnt reyes just let that go and let me go to sleep. This f’ing bullpen is crazy. crazy!

  647. 911nafstem says:

come on Mets, why don’t you get the bases loaded so you can blow that too

  648. BlueCapsOnly says:

    wake the f-ck up mets!

  649. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    Uh, no….Rollins = MVP

    Reyes = Whiner

    Mutts fans are a joke

  650. mrose says:

the bullpen isn’t losing this, the mets lack of hitting is

  651. fatburrell92 says:

    Atleast Lidge is gone.

  652. metsfan42793 says:

THIS TEAM BLOWS. THEY ARE THE BIGGEST CHOKERS EVER. THIS BULLPEN SUCKS. THIS TEAM DOESNT KNOW HOW TO GET A HIT WITH THE BASES LOADED. I CANT DEAL WITH IT ANYMORE.

  653. the_other_matt says:

Maybe the Concussion King can get it going.

  654. Championmets says:

this team brings up your hopes and then ripps your heart out

  655. SantanaCYYOung says:

two out an no one on and they score

  656. metsfan42793 says:

great aaron heilman is in the bullpen

  657. 911nafstem says:

okay, here we go, 1-2-3 and done

  658. Repeat 86 says:

    perfect heilman in the 10th

  659. Wright88 says:

all right, the shock is over now score 4 runs.

  660. SantanaCYYOung says:

at 7-0, this is what i imagined

  661. fatburrell92 says:

    The Mets are pathetic.

  662. Gary Busey says:

I feel like the Mets are that guy who ejaculates prematurely and then rolls over and falls asleep.

  663. metsforever says:

Did anybody here really think that this pen could get 12 outs against this team? Unlike the Mets, they never give up.

    • wa2k99 says:

It’s not giving up. They have a bullpen. We don’t. That’s it.

      • metsforever says:

I disagree a bit. When do the Mets ever score after the 4th or 5th innings? Check the numbers. They always phone it in after 5. And, the bullpen sucks. That goes without saying

  664. wa2k99 says:

    Just prolonging the torture

  665. WrightsRight says:

honestly, as great as this team has played lately, can you picture it coming back from a 7-0 deficit….? Philly does this on a weekly basis. Unreal.

Wright has looked Arod tonight with his brutal work with RISP…he needs to redeem himself soon.

  666. Wright88 says:

god…schneider has not been the defensive presence he was in Montreal.

  667. krispy644 says:

and we got Brian for his defense right….lol

he’s done great….but when it matters the most??

  668. SantanaCYYOung says:

here comes another 1-2-3 inning, game over in the bottom of the 10th

  669. AngryFan says:

I DEMAND for anyone here to tell me why this game isn’t the perfect microcosim of the fact that the Phils = TOUGH and the Metts (f**k it, MUTTS) = SOFT

7 run lead, down the sh*tter. The game was over all teh catcher has to do is CATCH a f**king relay.

Go ahead everyone….tell me why this isn’t PROOF the Phils aren’t tougher than the choking MUTTS

  670. EV says:

When they lose this game it falls on one person DAVID WRIGHT

    • 911nafstem says:

      yeah

    • the_other_matt says:

Wright and Feliciano should get the crap kicked out of them tonight.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Right, not on Pedro Feliciano. He was solid in relief tonight.

    • WrightsRight says:

hate to say it but i agree. that last at-bat was absolutely horrid and completely brainless. he needs to be smarter in those situations, patient, etc. to roll over like that and hit intoa double-play is absolutely horrible.

  671. SantanaCYYOung says:

david wright is alex rodriguez minus the gaudy numbers

  672. SantanaCYYOung says:

    here comes the dp

  673. Wright88 says:

Btw Easley deserves some blame for a bad throw, but he’s been awesome at the plate so he earned a little bit of slack

  674. kistics says:

    this fckin blows

  675. methead says:

Heilman will pitch 1 or 2 scoreless innings. We will not score and he will give up a solo homer in his 3rd inning.

  676. SantanaCYYOung says:

i’d rather have a great bullpen and shaky starting pitching than the other way around

  677. AngryFan says:

Actually, can someone tell me why Sanchez was allowed to pitch in this game?

Manuel shouldn’t get a contract off that move alone

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Sanchez was fine. Maybe leave him in for more than two batters he might have gotten out of the inning. Instead Feliciano comes in and does what he does best, give up runs.

    • metsforever says:

Cause that’s who Omar gave him. For all of Willie’s faults, and there are many, the bullpen sucks and Omar never did anything to fix it.

  678. MetsFan1976 says:

Geez…finally get a baserunner, with 1 out, and Manuel sends Argenis Reyes up to pinch-hit? Just because I prefer him and Easley platooning over Luis, doesnt mean he should be pinch-hitting!

  679. dave27 says:

I am switching over to the DNC. It’s actually less scripted than the 2008 Mets.

  680. Repeat 86 says:

    shocker

  681. SantanaCYYOung says:

    called it, night boys

  682. 911nafstem says:

OH WHAT A FCKING SURPRISE, DOUBLE PLAY!!!!

  683. MetsFan1989 says:

y do u met fans still like this reyes guy, HE SUCKS. y wasnt castillo used

  684. kistics says:

WHAT IS WITH THESE DOUBLE PLAYS??????
    EVERY FKCIN TIME!!!

  685. EV says:

    This offense SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  686. wa2k99 says:

It’s over right now. We’re done.

  687. slachs says:

How many outs does Heildonk get before he loses the game?

  688. fatburrell92 says:

HOW MANY MOTHERF*UCKING DOUBLE PLAYS HAVE WE GROUNDED INTO. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  689. Repeat 86 says:

by the way do the phillies ever ground into inning ending dps in key situations. Seems like we do it two to three times a night

  690. teufelshuffle86 says:

Could we maybe start a runner??? You know, maybe get something going? The way this team hits they should be running on every pitch.

  691. dave27 says:

    Another DP. Nice.

This game literally has me laughing out loud. For the second straight year, maybe we can hope to win the division because the Phillies can;t beat everyone ELSE when it counts.

Top of the order coming up. Mets have a better chance of seeing bigfoot than the 11th inning.

  692. AngryFan says:

    C
    H
    OKERS

  693. washtiger says:

Nice. Three GIDP’s tonight on top of everything else!

  694. foul bunt strikeout says:

hate to say it but that might be all she wrote if they lose this game

bullpen – please buy a gun and use it on yourself

  695. EV says:

I’ve never seen an offense just roll over and die like this one does.

  696. gomets6091 says:

I despise this team. I’m not sure which one I’m talking about. I guess both.

And I swear to god, if my Philly fan college roomate calls me one more time I’m going to throw my phone through the window.

  697. T-Pac says:

How DARE you question Argenis’ winning attitude? Despicable! You should be ashamed!

  698. kistics says:

    Yeah!! It’s Heilman Time!!!!
    Philly fans LOVE him!

  699. AngryFan says:

    HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE’S HEILMAN!

  700. Flushing_is_Burning says:

support group for depressed Met fans?? I’m gonna need a sponsor.

  701. oleosmirf says:

how do u lose after leading 7-0?????

    only the Mets i guess

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

      1. Stop hitting
      2. Stop scoring
      3. Have a bullpen with Pedro Feliciano in it..
      4. Have David Wright come up with the bases loaded and no one out and ground into a DP, twice.

  702. L.E.S.metfan says:

    Here comes Heillman gameover!

  703. sandiegometsman says:

Do we hit into like 3 DP’s a game or does it just seem like that? Unreal… LOL.. i just have to laugh…

  704. 911nafstem says:

this season is just about over, I could give two shts about the standings or how close we are

  705. Arsenal13 says:

I will not give this organization another dollar of my money until that idiot is thrown out as GM. To think that he could make the playoffs with this bullpen is just absolutely laughable

  706. AngryFan says:

Mets are softer than the Pope’s weiner

    • gomets6091 says:

there’s so many jokes here, but I don’t want to go to hell and/or be crucified by good catholics

  707. WrightsRight says:

    Batzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Don’t worry…Mr. Un-Clutch Jimmy Rollins is up this inning. The man never comes through in the clutch, especially vs. the Mets…

Tomorrow is a MUST WIN. No more of this “well, this race will go back and forth” nuance. Last season ended last August when the Mets were swpt by the Phils. The Phils were officially in the Mets head after that series and they never left.

  708. Repeat 86 says:

heilman throwing a solid 88 mph

  709. bkfitz says:

Can we please trade Brian Schneider in the offseason for a reliever who can throw a strike? I seriously would rather Cancel and Castro platoon than him. At least their defense isn’t grossly overrated.

  710. EV says:

This game is NOT the bullpen’s fault. The goat of this game is David Wright and the offense, that has done NOTHING for what 5 innings now.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

They had a 7-run lead. I think some of it is on the pitching staff.

      • EV says:

It should of been 9-0, 10-0, 11-0, in the first, how about some tack on runs, oh that’s right the Mets don’t believe in them. This game is on David Wright, bullpen should have had more of a cushion to work with.

    • metsforever says:

      Yes it is.

      You can’t lose a 7-0 lead. period

      • EV says:

How does David Wright and the offense take no blame here. Ever heard of tack on runs, the mets offense have never heard of them either.

  711. kistics says:

it’ll be heilman facing the heart of the order
    this is great!!@@###@$!$TER#E$WR$TI#)$ERDGHWTUKHRQEGIQRHQOP$#TU)$I#%O@#)*”%$@$#)!@#$^(#^%(#!$%$@^

  713. Repeat 86 says:

    and so it ends

  714. dave27 says:

  715. WrightsRight says:

Can god bless us by striking heilman down now please

  718. the_other_matt says:

Give credit to Heilman. He’s getting it over with early for us.

  719. sandiegometsman says:

Here comes the Hero of the day Heilman to absolutely rip our hearts out after getting a 7-0 lead…. Comical… Predictable… Mets are just the Mets….. Nothing different, all the same BS.

  720. Wright88 says:

Seriously…Schneider is starting to annoy the hell outta me

  721. Arsenal13 says:

well at least i have rollins on my fantasy team

  722. Repeat 86 says:

not a bad idea, just peg rollins

  723. AngryFan says:

    WHEN THE GAMES ARE MEANINGFUL, THE METS C H O K E, C H O K E, C H O K E AWAY

    God I despise them

  724. teufelshuffle86 says:

So far this year the Mets have blown a 9-run lead and now a 7-run lead to the Phils.

    here comes Rollins, game over.

  725. 911nafstem says:

    Hit Rollins in the hands

  726. dave27 says:

I don’t care who they use as replacements, but this needs to be the last game of the season for Pedro Feliciano, Joe Smith, and Aaron Heilman.

  727. Arsenal13 says:

it could be worse though guys we could be the yankees

    • Two-By-Four says:

Perhaps it’s just me but the Mets are my team. If the Mets win and the Yankees lose that’s icing on the cake. But if the Mets lose it doesn’t make me feel any better that the Yankees lost too.

  728. metsforever says:

Look at the face. He knows he’s going to lose

  729. Airfeet says:

WHY would he NOT tag up??

  730. the_other_matt says:

  732. fatburrell92 says:

Castro getting injured seems to be the biggest blow so far.

  733. sandiegometsman says:

Heilman is so bad… and Sanchez, and yet we throw these bums out there night after night…. Its hysterical…..I swear to God.. I don’t know why i waste my time….

  734. bkfitz says:

At least we finally retired Jimmy Rollins (who took advantage of crap pitching tonight).

  735. the_other_matt says:

Here’s what I dont get? Why INT walk Utley instead of drilling him in the ribs?

  736. Wright88 says:

    Heilman vs. Pat….

  737. Jay says:

haha. the question is, does subjecting ourselves to this sort of mental torture day in and day out, year in and year out, does it make us better people?.

Do we function better in everyday life, or has rooting for the Mets reduced you to cyncial, suspicious shut ins?

    Not sure for me…

  738. Repeat 86 says:

lets see burrell in the clutch

  739. kistics says:

    this is such a torture……

  740. Airfeet says:

    Heilmans just hangggggggggggggin pitches

  741. 911nafstem says:

After the season when the Mets miss the playoffs, I want Omar’s a.ss outta here. He had a whole off-season to fix this fcking bullpen and he did jack sht

  742. Church says:

Can everyone chill out. Santana will go 8-9 innings tomorrow and we’ll split, making it all for nothing, relax people.

  743. slachs says:

Burrell 3-run jack? Par for the Heilman course…

  744. coach says:

Maybe we can get a DP????????????????????????????

  745. teufelshuffle86 says:

Philly fans booing the IBB. They also booed on Smith’s first throw over to first, even though Durbin threw over about 8 times in a row with Reyes on first.

    • gomets6091 says:

to be fair, Mets fans would do the same. Pretty much all fans boo pickoff throws by the opposing team (and sometimes the home team)

      • teufelshuffle86 says:

I know, just thought it was funny after Durbin threw over 8 straight times and then one throw by Smith gets a cacophony of boos.

  746. Wright88 says:

    Eat it Pat

  747. gomets6091 says:

that’s it, I’ve turned the game off. Hopefully there will be some kind of miracle, but I doubt it. Good luck to Santana tomorrow.

  748. AngryFan says:

Can we all agree that golden boy Wright is soft??

Of his 100RBI, maybe 10 are clutch

    • metsforever says:

He does have some A Rod tendencies

      • Church says:

can we all agree that all you do is put down OUR favorite team, so stop waiting for games that they lose (since ALL teams lose once in a while) to make your comments demeaning this team. Thanks Buddy.

  749. kistics says:

    help….

  750. metsforever says:

    Ryan Howard v. HR Heilman.

    Anybody like this matchup?

  751. fatburrell92 says:

At least we didn’t get beat but Rollins or Burrell.

  752. Repeat 86 says:

heilman has to bring me back a kittle

  753. 911nafstem says:

Just let this caveman get his freaking 3 run homer and end it

  754. WrightsRight says:

Here is Heilman the tease…gets two outs, K’s Burrell, we all feel relaxed for the moment, and then………..

  755. capthr says:

Santana needs to pitch a complete game tomorrow dominating performance oh yeah and WIN!!!

  756. the_other_matt says:

  769. teufelshuffle86 says:

  771. Wright88 says:

Ok, this is our best chance to win it.

  772. Repeat 86 says:

i know we got lucky to get out of that, but guess who is pitching the 11th

  773. LL says:

how did Heilmann not blow it in that inning?

  774. MetsFan1976 says:

OK…they need to score in the top of the 11th. Victorino leads off the bottom of the 11th, and that is *never* good.

  775. 911nafstem says:

    here we go 1-2-3 done

  776. BlueCapsOnly says:

Reyes better swing for the fences, no one else on this team will do anything

  777. coach says:

Maybe our figin offense can do something.

Maybe Wright will stop doing his A-Rod choak job.

  778. Tha Prowler says:

    ok so much for that…..

  779. kistics says:

easley needs to hit a double for a cycle

  780. WrightsRight says:

i leave the room, come back and reyes is out.

  781. sandiegometsman says:

what is goin on? yahoo seems stuck

  782. 911nafstem says:

nice of the Mets lineup to kindly step aside so the Phillies proceed to entertain their fans with a nice comeback victory

  783. teufelshuffle86 says:

GOOD AB REYES. ONE PITCH????? SIT DOWN.

  784. Repeat 86 says:

    we screwed again

  785. AngryFan says:

    1) Pedro = FAILURE tonight. This was his biggest start as a Met. Thanks for nothing Petey.

    2) Wright = Soft, overrated. I’m so sick of seeing him toss his bat in frustration when he blows it in a clutch spot

    3) Mets offense= ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz in late situations. Losers.

    4) Bullpen= *PUKE*

Overall, quite the bunch of chokers.

See how quickly they’re out this inning? Sign of losers

  786. coach says:

Well, thats a quick 2 outs!

  787. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

    4 pitches, 2 outs

  788. WrightsRight says:

these guys make it soooo easy on the phillies.

  789. therealsince86 says:

Funny thing is that all the talk will be about the Mets blowing a 7 run lead. It will never be mentioned how you come in in your own park and get down 7 to start with.
Look the Phillies and the Mets are both good but not great teams in the middle of a race. This one is at Philly and it’s tied after 10. What’s the big deal?

    • AngryFan says:

      Are you f**king kidding me

      • Church says:

It doesn’t matter HOW they are won and lost, as Jerry has proved, if they lose I would bet they bounce back tomorrow, since you know, I’m a MET FAN and all. So why don’t you relax, since your boy Jimmy’s batting like .250 on the year and all. MVP who?

  790. kistics says:

    what the heck was that?

  791. metz1 says:

only now do i realize how important billy wagner really is!

  792. sandiegometsman says:

who is at bat? yahoo blows..

  793. coach says:

    Here come A-Rod junior

  794. oleosmirf says:

david should get an oscar for that

  795. WrightsRight says:

i blame this game more on the offense and bullpen then petey. 7 runs should be good enough to win, but the mets left 47 guys on the basepaths. And the bullpen…well, the bullpen is the bullpen. Bad as always.

  796. Tha Prowler says:

STFD jerry. u look like santa claus w a shorter haircut…

  797. kistics says:

wagner probably blows this game too
he’s not much different from rest of these bullpen jerks

  798. Repeat 86 says:

    funny

  799. Airfeet says:

typically Wright getting a base hit with no one on base

  800. teufelshuffle86 says:

Philly fans booing that call. ball was 2 feet off the plate.

  801. AngryFan says:

    HA!

    Mr Unclutch can’t do ANYTHING.

    What a d**che

  802. kistics says:

    oh gee..

  803. the_other_matt says:

that was the stupidest play of wright’s career

  804. 911nafstem says:

And that’s why the Phils are winning the division, because they make the plays that winning teams need to make late in games. Could’ve used that hit a little earlier golden boy

  805. WrightsRight says:

Jesus, David, if you’re going to try for 2nd, you gotta RUN. David was loafing it around first, not running hard at all, with those stiupid arms waving around the side of his body.

  806. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

before everyone freaks out, that was the right move by wright

    • WrightsRight says:

yes – but he’s gotta run harder than that, he was not running hard into first so he had to put it into overdrive going into 2nd and David’s overdrive is a lot slower than a Reyes or Rollins.

  807. Tha Prowler says:

u have gots to be fckin kiddin’ me ……..!!!!!! this guy is really turning into AROD before our very eyes. arod does tha same bonehead plays running bases. u can’t make this stuff up !!!!

  808. AngryFan says:

Big deal, they wouldn’t have scored him either way!

  809. teufelshuffle86 says:

Did anyone tell Davey that they need baserunners? Terrible decision.

  810. MetsFan1976 says:

First he grounds into a double play with runners on 1B and 2B and 1 out, to kill a rally, and now he gets thrown out at 2B in the freaking 11th inning?!?! Is Wright doing his impersonation of AROD, or something?!?!

  811. coach says:

How many more stupid things are we going to do?

Just let the first guy hit it out and put us out of our missery!

  812. jimmyk456 says:

    absolutely idiotic

  813. Repeat 86 says:

werth didnt even throw the ball hard, he just lobbed it to rollins to get wright, horrible baserunning

  814. AzMetsFan says:

    This stadium is absolutly terrible

  815. slachs says:

That was actually not a bad play by Wright with 2 outs on the road in extra innings. Gotta try to get into scoring position. His pop-up with runners on first and second earlier in the game though was the turning point of the game.

  816. Wright88 says:

It took a perfect play to get him, I don’t mind agressive mistakes.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

He was out by a mile. Werth barely put anything on that throw. Aggressive mistakes are okay in the 5th inning, not when you have blown a 7-run lead and need baserunners.

  817. dave27 says:

I’m astounded by how completely uncool Shane Victorino looks.

  818. Repeat 86 says:

    wright for MVP

  819. 911nafstem says:

    Keith, seriously, stfu

  820. coach says:

we’re trying to get 2 innings out of Heilman?

    God help us.

  821. teufelshuffle86 says:

Only been 7 innings since the Mets have scored a run.

  822. Jefferies 9 says:

    I smell a walk-off

  823. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

The golden boy face of the Mutts franchise comes through once again……….NOT!!!!!!!!!!!

  824. Repeat 86 says:

who else is in the bp?

  825. WrightsRight says:

It was a smart play by Wright – if Wright is running hard all the way. He wasn’t. He was running like it was a single and then saw an opportunity but he had to booking it hard out of the box to even have a slight chance.

  826. the_other_matt says:

All i can say is thank god for Ambien.

  827. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    (sniff sniff)…..I smell burning mutts……

    • Jefferies 9 says:

That must be your upper lip

    • the_other_matt says:

      Dude…you’re just a d!ck.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

I smell a closet Met fan. Keep up the obsession kid. We know the Mets are always in your head.

    • mrose says:

dude, you do realize that if that bunch of a-holes you root for lose tomorrow, they are right back where they started tonight right? the season is another month long, just incase you can’t read a calender

      • Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

“calender”?? LOL….ok……I can read AND spell….unlike mutts fans apparently

        • 911nafstem says:

and apparently you’re a janitor on Wall Street

        • mrose says:

          you are pathetic man….
you obviously have a bit of a self esteem issue, you could have simply made your nickname “Philly fan in NYC” but you feel you are special to be on wall st.
congrats, you and tons of others who are likely more successful than you. Go ahead and correct a spelling mistake, I have no need to go onto another team’s blog on AUGUST 26TH and act like the season is over.

We know you will be happy if Philly wins, but you will cry yourself to sleep again tonight.

      • teufelshuffle86 says:

Dude, he’s just an obsessed, closet Met fan. Can’t stay away from a Mets board for 2 seconds.

  828. Airfeet says:

    AWFUL call

  829. 911nafstem says:

Mets are going to run out of pitchers, luckily, Heilman will probably make that a non-issue

  830. coach says:

I am really starting to hate Worth almost as much as Rollins

  831. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

Just like last year the Mutts peaked at the wrong time, AND just like last year, they’re falling apart at the RIGHT time again…….LMAO

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Didn’t they melt down in Santana’s game last month? What happened the next 2 games?

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

They’ve won 11 of 13. Is that considered falling apart?

If the Mets happen to somehow win the game, feel free to stick around. You wouldn’t be one of those front-running Philly fans the Phillies players talk about would you?

    • metz1 says:

since when did anybody say the seasons over?

    • KL15 says:

How’d the Phillies do in the first round last year son?

  832. Repeat 86 says:

hamels with a walk off, i will throw up

  833. coach says:

Maybe we can throw out somebody

  834. 911nafstem says:

What the hell is with this ump? Seriously?

  835. sandiegometsman says:

    Nice ASron.. Nice walk

  836. WrightsRight says:

Introducing Eric Bruntlett aka the next Stan Musial

  837. Repeat 86 says:

very inconsistent in the late innings

  838. coach says:

We can’t get Eric F’N Bruntlett out?????????????

    Are you kidding me??????????????

  839. AngryFan says:

Getting beat by Hamels would represent a new low

  840. oleosmirf says:

    gdp baby

  841. erik says:

Mets have Sho left in the pen. If it gets that far.

    • dave27 says:

Yeah…why? Feliciano earned that outing with that performance against Houston?

How many doofy white dudes are on this team?

  842. teufelshuffle86 says:

We don’t need Rollins up here.

  843. AngryFan says:

Walking Hamels (or worse) should result in immediate demotion

  844. 911nafstem says:

Does Hamels try to look gay with that hair cut?

  845. coach says:

Can somebody look in the lost and found and see if our offense is in there?

    It left Philly already

  846. Repeat 86 says:

    heilman still throwing hangers

  847. AngryFan says:

    HERE COMES HEARTBREAK….

  848. AngryFan says:

    And Wright FAILS again

    Arod Jr

  849. 911nafstem says:

What sucks is that even if Heilman miraculously gets out of this and the Mets score, they’ll never close the game out

  850. the_other_matt says:

that play summed up wright’s night

  851. Repeat 86 says:

    there is your gold glover

  852. coach says:

    Nice play Wright.

J Rol with the bases loaded = 2nd place.

Hope Johan can get us a split tomorrow.

    Good night all

  853. metsfan42793 says:

what keith hernandez gonna say. the mets may have blown a 7 run lead but positive signs of pedro tonight with his velocity

  854. dave27 says:

Can we get a list of scrubs who have gotten on base in front of Rollins tonight?

  855. Wright88 says:

    Bean Rollins!

  856. AngryFan says:

JROLL GONNA APPLY THE DEATHBLOW MORTAL KOMBAT STYLE

  857. AzMetsFan says:

i’m feeling something very ugly right now, I hope im wrong

  858. the_other_matt says:

    One….more….strike

  859. AngryFan says:

GOD PLEASE END THIS TORTURE ALREADY WE KNOW HOW THIS ENDS :(

    • mrose says:

you see, here is the difference..
a real met fan may hate the torture, but as much as they type on here that they don’t trust heilman or are mad at Wright…they hope and will watch every inning until the end, good or bad..
      you..are a loser

      • the_other_matt says:

I hate the torture…and yet…I love the torture.

      • AngryFan says:

“a real met fan may hate the torture, but as much as they type on here that they don’t trust heilman or are mad at Wright…they hope and will watch every inning until the end, good or bad..”

So by the definition, I’m a real mets fan.

        THANKS!

  860. coach says:

    HEILMAN FOR PRESIDENT!

  861. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nice Heilman.
I honestly don’t know how much more I can take.

  862. L.E.S.metfan says:

    I love this game!!!

  863. wa2k99 says:

    Finally! Sit down blow hole!!!

  864. gomets6091 says:

wow, Jimmy Rollins is so unclutch…

  865. Repeat 86 says:

luckily we have crap left in the bp since we needed three pitchers to get out of the eighth

  866. el_giacomo says:

    Over 1,200 comments…damn. Most I’ve seen in a single thread here…

Gameday is taking a crap here in extras, maybe it’s on my end, but it’s not making a tense game like this any easier to “watch”…

  867. EV says:

    Yea Heilman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  868. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Tatis won a game with a HR in the 12 inning earlier this season. I think he is going to get an at bat in the 12th again. Can he do it again?

  869. Repeat 86 says:

its surprising they still havent used romero yet

  870. kbh218 says:

This has got to be a new record for comments during a game.

  871. 911nafstem says:

Yup, they’re frontrunners, Rollins was right

  872. therealsince86 says:

Can’t ask for much more from our pen. Again the top story will be our blowing a 7 run lead and it will be made like it was our pen. Pedro blew the 7 run lead. For our pen to pitch 6 innings and only give up 2 runs in this joke of a park is astounding.

  873. coach says:

Maybe Beltran could earn some of his $$$$

Or at least back up what he said before the season

  874. 911nafstem says:

would a clutch home run by Beltran here completely disrupt the universe?

  875. Repeat 86 says:

    solid at bat by beltran

  876. el_giacomo says:

Gameday has some weird obsession with Bruntlett’s AB in the 11th…keeps flashing back to it…weird stuff…

  877. dave27 says:

There are few hitters who can lok as bad as Beltran sometimes.

  878. ghobot says:

this is an epic game. being on the road, unless the mets score, its only a matter of time because the phils have the last AB.

    yankees red sox who?

why do the mets have such a disparity beginning in the game and late in the game? scoring early and bullpen late is a bad combo. its the strangest thing.

    • AzMetsFan says:

yeah, pretty much the absolute worst combo. But if they score some runs late, it helps to knock the opposing teams momentum down which could help the bullpen…..so maybe its all relative in some way or another.

  879. coach says:

Or not, Thats the Beltran I’m used to

  880. AzMetsFan says:

Does anybody feel that if the Mets actually manage to score a run that they’ll still blow it anyway?

  881. Repeat 86 says:

when was the last time the mets hit something hard

  882. EV says:

    Yea it would.

  883. Nate W. says:

do they use Questek in CBP? If not, the strike zone will be the size of a small zip code tomorrow.

If this game goes on much longer Heilman could be the starter in place of Maine… ;)

did Schoeneweis warm up so many times that he is no longer available? And why didnt he start the 9th?

  884. metz1 says:

gee, Omar think we might need a little more bullpen help?

  885. Repeat 86 says:

quick- whats going through jerry’s mind right now?

  886. WrightsRight says:

    agony, agony

  887. teufelshuffle86 says:

Why not just let the Phils keep batting until they score? When they get three outs just start over. The top half of each inning is just a waste of time at this point.

  888. the_other_matt says:

Church looks like he’s had 5 concussions this week

  889. metz1 says:

What scares me even more is kunz is young but doesnt seem to be the future closer the mets think he might be.he throws hard but isnt exactly a young billy wagner either.

  890. Airfeet says:

Can we get Nick Evans up!!!

  891. EV says:

Again, when they lose this game, it is NOT the Bullpens fault, it is this god awful, unclutch offense, that has done NOTHING for 8 innings led by Mr. MVP David Wright, who hit not one but TWO KILLER double plays. Anyone who blames the pen for this loss is not too smart.

    • 911nafstem says:

well, its partly the bullpens fault

    • Wright88 says:

You have to blame the pen somewhat, With 2 innings to go up by 2, you should win the game.

      • EV says:

Have any of you people heard of freaking tack on runs. We scored 7 run in 4 innings and then did NOTHING the rest of the game. By the way, where is the blame for Pedro on here, last time I checked he gave up 5 of the 7 runs.

  892. Repeat 86 says:

tough one for church, howard doesnt make that play 7 out of 10 times

  893. Nate W. says:

    This is one crazy game.

Both teams start the guy they want on the mound the most and runs are scored left and right.

Now both teams are pitching guys they didnt even want to warm up, much less see the mound, and neither team can score.

    Go figure…

  894. gomets6091 says:

ok, Im going to sleep. This offense is just sad. I know the bullpen’s gonna take the blame if they lose this thing, but the fact is it was Pedro and the offense, which decided to just shut it down after the 4th inning.

  895. 911nafstem says:

in retrospect, Manuel should’ve let Stokes keep pitching, now Show and Sht is going to be forced to pitch

    • Nate W. says:

They couldnt let Stokes hit, he was batting leadoff in the 8th inning…

The mistake there was using both Evans and Murphy in that spot. They should have used Endy or A. Reyes there.

The other arguement you could make, but I dont think too many of us would agree, would be to use Heilman to pitch the 6th and 7th instead of Stokes, saving the long man for extras…

  896. 911nafstem says:

    NEVER throw inside to Utley

  897. Repeat 86 says:

the worst part is I keep thinking, well when is reyes coming up because he is the only guy I believe in the get a game winning hit

  898. the_other_matt says:

How does Brian Stokes–a starter/long-man–only stay in for 2 innings, yet Aaron “I choke by inning 3″ pitch 3 frames?

  899. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

When was the last time we had a 1-2-3 inning? Feels like last week.

  900. metz1 says:

Even armando benitez during the season blew people away in his good years with the mets.Cant we find someone else who throws at least 97 mph?

  901. MetsFan4Decades says:

Last time I saw Heilman in his third inning of work, in an extra inning game he gave up the game winning HR to Albert Pujols……

    Very scary…

  902. Nate W. says:

Heilman is at 50 pitches. This game has to end soon or the Mets will be sending Endy Chavez to the mound.

  903. Repeat 86 says:

this isnt heilman’s fault if he loses this

    • the_other_matt says:

no – it’s Wright, manuel and Feliciano who get this one.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

      Agree.

    • mrose says:

heres a secret, at least 2 of heilman’s other losses aren’t hit fault (one that billy blew in the 9th before him, and another the mets couldn’t muster runs off the cardinals). there may be more, but don’t let the Heilman haters know that argument, their world will explode

  904. fatburrell92 says:

why are these Mets/ Phillies games always so tense? I hate them

  905. metz1 says:

thers got to be some way to make a move for a better closer if we want to win now!

  906. Wright88 says:

    Utley is so unclutch

  907. ratatatspat says:

LETS GO METS!! LETS GO METS!!

  908. Repeat 86 says:

does anyone think show didnt want to hear the phone ring in the bp

  909. 911nafstem says:

it’s a shame Heilman is pitching so great and the Mets lineup is just wasting it. If I was Jerry I’d trash the post game meal after this performance

  910. the_other_matt says:

    can warthen pitch?

  911. fatburrell92 says:

I can’t believe im saying this, but Heilman did show some guts today.

  912. teufelshuffle86 says:

In a game like this, how does Burrell go 0-7?

  913. Repeat 86 says:

have reyes pitch, he has a cannon

  914. Repeat 86 says:

    heilman for mvp

  915. the_other_matt says:

can they just use a tee in the 13th?

  916. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Holy Strikeout, Heilman !!!!

  917. Wright88 says:

We should all give Heilman some much deserved props.

  918. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

I have regained a portion of my lost respect for Heilman tonight.

  919. DWright31 says:

Manuel has an irrational hatred of Show. No way around it.

  920. EV says:

Can this freaking GOD AWFUL offense score some freaking runs. Still the bullpens fault people? What more can you expect from Heilman.

  921. mrose says:

mets bullpen 7 innings 2 runs….thats not bad for us….
how many bet the papers spin this as the bullpen blew another?

  922. Repeat 86 says:

Quick- BP 6 innings- 2 runs

    Pedro 5 innings- 5 runs

    doesnt look like bp fault

  923. Tha Prowler says:

    heilman is straight dealing tonite….

  924. the_other_matt says:

Holy crap – I thought that Lady in the Monopoly commercial was Paul McCartney

  925. BlueCapsOnly says:

Wow, gotta give Aaron some credit, he pitched with guts tonight.

  926. randytate says:

For all the justifiable crap we have given Heilman, those were 3 HUGE innings.

  927. cousinrk says:

Give Aaron some credit. This was a heck of a performance.

  928. wa2k99 says:

Can we freakin score off Seanez at least?

  929. Nate W. says:

where is Jorge Sosa when you need him?

  930. therealsince86 says:

Game be damned, Heilman needs to be our starter for Maine. He has the stuff to be the #5 and after tonight he should be stretched out.

  931. teufelshuffle86 says:

Rudy Saenez to look like Mariano Rivera in 3…2….1…..

  932. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Adding my kudos for Heilman.

  933. grotesmask says:

No question. Overall, he has sucked royally. I wish he were consistent; he’s so not.

  934. Repeat 86 says:

after show, santana? I hope not

  935. cousinrk says:

At least not getting anyone else on base prevents them from hitting into anymore double plays

  936. BlueCapsOnly says:

Ollie can probably go an inning tonight right?

    • Nate W. says:

I guess he would be next. No one else really

Santana is tomorrow, Pelfrey pitched yesterday, Pedro pitched today (just seems like yesterday) and there is no 5th starter…

  937. Repeat 86 says:

    is carlos ruiz playing third?

Mets batters are 2-20 since 6th, that’s clutch.

  939. 911nafstem says:

I just don’t understand how an entire offense, with nine different personalities, can just shut off all at once

  940. the_other_matt says:

I love late games when you hear morons yelling “Chavez you bum.” Makes me chuckle.

    • Wright88 says:

Do you remember the Mike Cameron game in Montreal? Where Cameron actually made a bet with a fan in the stands during the game.

  941. teufelshuffle86 says:

Neither Met pitchers nor Met hitters can seem to get ahead in the count. One of the reasons this game is tied.

  942. The Slider says:

Are we just waiting for some point in this game when the Phillies eventually beat us.

  943. Repeat 86 says:

    reyes with two outs, great

  944. 911nafstem says:

This is the worse kind of loss, you kill your pen AND your team’s moral

    • the_other_matt says:

Actually to me, the worst loss would be coming back from a 7-0 deficit with 2 outs in the 9th only to lose the game in the 14th.

    • Nate W. says:

The three bums who pitched the 8th inning werent extended, they can go tomorrow.

Santana coming off that career high 121 pitches, so who knows how deep he can go tomorrow.

      Two bright spots…

If the Mets can get to Kendrick early tomorrow the Phillies have no one to go to. Mets could romp to a lead the pen cant give back…

This could hurt the Phillies pen for the next 3-4 days. Maybe they lose a few games they would have otherwise won.

  945. BlueCapsOnly says:

    OK Jose, be an MVP

  946. The Slider says:

    Rudy Seanez? Ugh.

  947. Repeat 86 says:

at least we have an off day after tomorrow

  948. metz1 says:

All i can say is….we had a 7-5 lead and the bullpen blew it!

    • The Slider says:

Manuel blew it by taking out Stokes who was pitching lights out while we were up two. There was no good reason for Manuel to take him out.

    • EV says:

Your kidding me right. What about Pedro with a 7-0 lead who gave up 5 runs and this god awful offense that has done CRAP since the 4th inning. You blaming Heilman too right.

      • metz1 says:

plain and simple when you have a 7-5 lead your bullpen needs to close it out.Noone is blaming heilman.

  949. 911nafstem says:

well, Schoe and his constipation face can now put us all out of our miseries

  950. Repeat 86 says:

kendrick in the 14th? if we get there

  951. Wright88 says:

btw, anyone know the record for most posts in a single thread

  952. EV says:

9 innings and counting that this offense has done NOTHING. The offense gave up what 5 innings or so ago unlike Heilman, who showed more heart than the entire Mets offense. They really don’t deserve to win this game, good night.

  953. Repeat 86 says:

we need two out of show

  954. Repeat 86 says:

  956. Wright88 says:

ok..I think thats game. Hard to get out of this situation.

  957. the_other_matt says:

  958. Wright88 says:

    Yes..great…don’t guard the line.

  965. teufelshuffle86 says:

Fortunately the Phils have no more bench players.

  966. Wright88 says:

    triple play anyone?

  967. metsfan42793 says:

why is show throwing balls its a fing pitcher not babe ruth

  968. Repeat 86 says:

  969. Nate W. says:

Myers should just take the K here and let the real hitters have an out to work with.

  970. The Slider says:

Isn’t this prohibited by the Geneva Convention?

  971. metsfan42793 says:

    omg

  972. Wright88 says:

    Show if you walk Myers…..

  973. Limabean367 says:

Blowing a 7-0 lead to your rival this late in the season is unacceptable! Despite that recent 10-9 game this summer and despite the fact that our pen can’t seem to get 6 outs, I never thought we’d be in this position with how the game started.

Sure this is a great game, but its really driving me crazy and I hope this doesn’t have an effect on the team’s psyche.

    - I don’t understand how this offense seems to all shut down at once on a daily basis.
    - This bullpen is constantly letting you down. For once it’s time to praise Heilman, but the other guys not being to protect lead in this big of a game is a JOKE.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

You really didn’t expect this to happen? Have you watched a Mets/Phillies game this year?

      • Limabean367 says:

        Uhh yeah every one.

But you can’t tell me when Tatis hit that 3 run homer to make it 6-0, even though it was only the 3rd/4th inning, you were expecting to lose this game

  974. teufelshuffle86 says:

Again Met pitchers starting of behind in the count. It’s a f*king pitcher!!!!

  975. Airfeet says:

  983. The Slider says:

SCREW JERRY MANUEL FOR TAKING STOKES OUT OF THE GAME.

JERRY MANUEL SUCKS!!!!! HE IS A FREAKING MORON!!!

    • Wright88 says:

You’d rather have Stokes bat? Besides Stokes sucks.

      • The Slider says:

I was at the game. Stoke was throwing great. He was reaching 96 mph and no one was hitting him. And Manuel, that jerk, took him out to put Sanchez and Feliciano????

Give me a freaking break. MANUEL IS A MORON.

  984. the_other_matt says:

I want to see Victorino, utley, and J-ro get nailed tomorro.

  985. teufelshuffle86 says:

I called this back when it was 6-0. I should buy a lottery ticket.

  986. fatburrell92 says:

did you see victorino’s face. what a smug a**wipe.

  987. Ryn05 says:

    Ouch.

Good thing it’s just 1 game and we have a month left.

  988. Airfeet says:

Mets may be the biggest choke team in ALL OF SPORTS….its not like they are a no talent team like the nats or pirates that just arent good…they continue to SUCK during big games and CHOKE like ive never seen

  989. Jimbabway says:

    IM CALLING THE “INS”
ON THE METS!!! THIS TEAM IS GARBAGE!!!

  990. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

I’m so mad about this loss. The 7-0 blown lead was bad enough but our offense really laid down. Win tomorrow and technically we’re back where we started, but this is getting out of hand.

  991. Nate W. says:

If the Mets can get to Kendrick early tomorrow the Phillies have no one to go to. Mets could romp to a lead the pen cant give back… Say 17-2?

This could hurt the Phillies pen for the next 4-5 days. Maybe they lose a few games they would have otherwise won against other teams.

  992. Repeat 86 says:

just come backand win tomorrow and this game doesnt matter

    • WozzyBear says:

I respect the optomism, but after watching how the race unfolded last year, you can’t honestly mean that. EVERY SINGLE GAME COUNTS. Had they won just one more game last year, they would have been in a playoff…

How many games like this have the Mets blown this year? When you can’t even remember the number, you know it’s bad.

  993. the_other_matt says:

I want to hear DW explain his shoddy play in a big game, once again.

  994. wa2k99 says:

as soon as delgado hit the dp they were done.

  998. the_other_matt says:

Your 2008 NY Mets: Same as it ever was

  999. Stems says:

    F This ……

Mets really love getting spanked by the Phils eh?

This team has no heart.. NONE

Phils kept handing them the game near the end the the Mets did NOTHING. This is our Championship team?????

    What a joke……….

Maybe 2009 will have a real team, not a makeshift one riddled with injuries and guys who can only hit in the first 3 innings…

Sorry…. this is just way too infuriating and it does not look like it will get any better.

  1000. Championmets says:

Chill out mets fans this loss hurts but u gotta look at the schedual, the next four games are against the cubs

  1001. Tha Prowler says:

who is the vocal leader on this team???? i swear we need a voice like derek bell used to be …someone outspoken who don’t take this sh it sittin down. this team HAS NOOOO BACKBONE!! does not represent NY well man. im sorry. we don’t deserve this. now lets see if beltran, wright, delgado, or reyes speaks out and gets annoyed about this loss. i swear the phillies could plunk beltran square in the back tomorrow and NO ONE on the bench would even get loud w/ the other team…except for maybe jose.
ok enuff of this crap. im goin to watch jimmy kimmel…….

  1002. LL says:

Finally, game over. Thank you for ending the misery Show…you absolutely SUCK by the way. Offense, nothing more to say, it’s been said all night. Heilmann, still sucks, and sucked tonight, just got lucky. The only good inning he had was the 3rd inning he pitched. Un freaking believable. 7 run lead blown. But not really surprised. It’s been happening all year. It doesn’t hurt that badly anymore. Kind of numb toward it. Hopefully the players are also, because if not, this will mess their psyches up.

  1003. ghobot says:

if anyone thinks the mets wont be fine because of this game, i dont think you have been watching this season. they will split the series tomorrow. losing the lead stinks, but in this ballpark, a 7 run lead is not much.

its a major shame, but this team bounces back well.

what they need to focus on is why they cant tack on runs at the end of the game. it might be a mind set issue. those double plays were sickening. how delgado didnt think sac fly there, i dont know.

in that ballpark, unless you get HUGE starting pitching, the phillies think they can come back against the mets bullpen whenever they want. did you see how relaxed they are against the bullpen?

  1004. PAPDOG67 says:

Take care of business tomorrow and leave town back in front. Sorry, but this loss in on the offense. I know we put up 7, but the Philly bullpen threw a CG shutout against us. Unacceptable.

    • ghobot says:

in case you havent noticed, they have been doing that all season.

i hate that ballpark. i hate it more than anything. i mean, victorinos triple and wrights single, out at second says it all.

its uncomfortable to watch the mets play in a ballpark like that.

the guys on sny said it best. the phillies play like that because they know even cole hamels can hit it out.

man that game tying run hurt the most because he should have been out at the plate. what a great win that would have been if that were to happen, but alas.

  1005. Two-By-Four says:

The game’s story line: “The Phillies brought in Sandy Koufax to start the fifth inning and the Mets offense was not heard from again.”

  1006. X-Man says:

Champion Caliber teams just don’t give up 7-run leads, they just don’t. I blame this loss on the offense more than I do on the BP. 9 freakin innings without scoring a run………..9 FREAKIN INNINGS! This happens all too often with this team and it’s a total mystery as to why they just simply fall asleep and cannot tack on runs late in ball games. There has to be some scientific explanation for this , I mean come on. And it doesn’t who the opposing pitcher is, it could be a High school kid and they still wouldn’t score late in ball games.

Scroll up this thread and you can read where I said when the Mets were up 7-0 that if they didn’t score at least three more runs and get to 10 runs, they would lose this game. It’s not that I have some magical talent to see into the future, It’s just that like everyone else on here, we know whats coming already. Simply and utterly AMAZING!

    • The Slider says:

The last Mets-Phillies game I was at here in Philly, the Mets went up 10-2 and almost lost. The final score was 10-9. This team has no freaking heart and our manager sucks.

He should have never taken Stokes out. He was pitching lights out.

      • MetfaninFL says:

Stokes pitched great but you have to try to score more runs. Manuel has seen this movie before. While a game like this should never happen he has to deal with it on almost a nightly basis. Its a real catch 22 beacause if he left Stokes in he’d be called dumb because he gave up outs. If he pinch hits for Stokes, he’s an idiot because he took out a good pitcher.

    • MetfaninFL says:

The offense put up 7 runs. That should be good enough for any staff. It doesn’t matter if they score them in the first or one run for the last 7 innings. The point is they put up enough runs to win this game tonight. Pedro killed this game with the HR’s to Rollins and Howard. It’s the fault of the pitching they even had 9 innings not to score in. The bullpen really didn’t kill the game like the usually do for the Mets. They only gave up three runs in a long stretch of work. However, Santana has got to step up and win the game later today.

  1007. MetfaninFL says:

Every Phillies series this year has started with a terrible loss. This blog lights up about people saying the season is over and planning for next year. However, the Mets have shown an amazing ability to come back from the adversity after a tough loss to the Phillies and everyone will be back on here tomorrow night planning where they are going to sit for the World Series.

    • ghobot says:

yup. what are you going to do? some metsblog readers feel more comfortable predicting demise than showing optimism and faith. its easier to bitch and moan and say the sky is falling. it allows people to feel better if it happens. i am not saying that they shouldnt do it, because being a fan can be really distressing, but what can we expect? rooting for the mets can be very difficult at times.

its a tough loss, but its also only one game.

i am more interested in the marlins series than i am for this series. i am hoping for a split tomorrow, and this loss will be moot. i expect johann to pitch a big game, deep.

does anyone have any theories why the mets cant score in the late innings? is it the bench? is it managerial moves? what do you think the issue is? is it added pressure to score?

      • Two-By-Four says:

I just looked out the window and screamed the sky has fallen. But then I realized it 1:21AM and breathed a sigh of relief.

I’m neither pessimistic nor optimistic about this team and have no expectations one way or the other. We all know the short comings but they are only .5 games out of first. So your guess is as good as mine.

Now why can’t they score runs late in a game? If I was a pessimist I would just say they suck. If I was an optimist I would attribute it to all the great bullpens they face and just tip my cap to the other team. But perhaps the frailty of their bullpen puts added pressure on them to score late.

  1008. PAPDOG67 says:

You’re right MetfaninFL, if there is one thing this team has shown this season, its the ability to get themselves up off the mat after a tough loss, dust themselves off, and get back on track….and I expect the same tomorrow night…I’m still on the bus.

    • X-Man says:

You’re absolutely right. It’s just ONE loss. Win tomorrow and every thing is dandy. What concerns me is how many times can this team jump out to a big lead and see it whither away into a loss? That has to take some kind of psychological toll on the player’s mind set, how can it not?

  1009. Two-By-Four says:

I just looked up Wright’s splits this year and found that innings 7-9 he is hitting .234, .351obp, .440slugging and .791 OPS. Innings 4-6 he is hitting .323, .593obp, .583slugging and .964 OPS.

  1010. L.E.S.metfan says:

Great game, the Mets played great. But the phillies played a little better. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s game. Santana will have the Philly offense looking silly at the plate.
    LETS GO METS!!!

  1011. L.E.S.metfan says:

The Mets didn’t play like crap. They didn’t give the phillies anything. The phillies were playing good baseball.

  1012. X-Man says:

I told my co-worket today that even if one team sweeps the other, it’s not the end of the word, too many games left to play. Sure you like to take the first game and better yet, sweep, but either way too many games left to make this series a do-or Die. Win to morrow and we are back in first by a .5 game and then the Phillies have to go to Chicago for 4.

If we just resign our selves to the fact that no team is going to run away with this thing and that it will be a dog fight to the finish, then these types of loses is all par for the course. Only thing that matters is who finishes in first place on the last day of the season (god forbid a one game playoff!! LOL ).

  1013. mrose says:

anyone else wish he was banned?

  1014. ExileInLA says:

No, their usual TORRID start – their usual tepid finish.

Check a dictionary for the long words…

  1015. Wright88 says:

obviously not a Mets fan. Just go back to your Philly board.
