April 3-4? Taking bets on whether it will be snowing or not.

taking bets on whether the first game ever will even be sold-out…

The game could be restricted to only Red Sox fans and it would still sell out. There is no need for the Mets to cater to sox nation like this…

That is kinda cool facing the red socks in the first game at citi field……………….
it’s better than facing Nationals

umm…why?

A nice little tease in the new stadium in an exhibition game. Open a stadium with a meaningless game…awesome.

WHy not open the season at home, instead of playing on the road and not opening the stadium until a week in.

I’m pretty sure teams do this every time before a new stadium opens up.

i guess its a sort of dress rehearsal for the stadium workers, concessions, ground screw, security, etc..

But, I almost feel like there is some luster lost for actually debuting the stadium in an exhibition. Once the games start, this will prolly be forgotten and it wont really effect the atmosphere at the real home opener.

They did this a few seasons ago vs the Orioles. I think the first 3 hitters or something went deep on Jae Seo. I don’t even know why I went……..maybe because they made me buy the ticket as a part of my Saturday plan.

Amazing

Does anyone know what A.L. division the NL east plays in interleague play next season?

It should be the East, if they go on a strict 3-year rotation.

yea if its the same rotation, you’re right…I wonder if they do it that way, and then if so, would the Red sox visit citifield later in the year as we were in Fenway last time around?

Actually, it might be the Central. They didn’t play the Indians, White Sox, or Royals in 2007 when they played the Tigers and Twins (they also played the A’s then).

Any idea why they’re starting the season later next year? I heard it mentioned before but I don’t recall hearing a reason.

Probably because Yankee Stadium won’t be finished in time.

It’s just the way the days fall next year. April 1st is a Wednesday.

The options are either Monday, April 6th or Monday March 30th as the starts. Probably a good move with all the potential bad weather.

Speaking of which - imagine the April games in the Twins new outdoor stadium that will open in a few years? This seems like it will be a disaster.

lol, yea that wasnt the brightest move…

with Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago in the same division, someone will have to play some home games in early April that are likely to be close to freezing or snowing.

The Texas Rangers should start the year on a 30 game homestand, then in July and August when its 120 degrees they can be on the road most of the time… It would be unfair, but they are the Rangers, they arent ever going to have a winning year anyway…

Think about how bad the Rangers pitching is. They gave away Voloquez (granted for Hamilton), but they also gave up Galaragga to the Rangers as an afterthought. Add Danks to the equation and you can see why their rotation is so bad. They have good ones and someonetimes don’t even realize it!
