I like this lineup. Lots of depth.

  2. MetsFan4Decades says:

So is the only way we have a shot at winning this game is if Johan is strong and goes 9????

As ever – ‘Let’s Go Mets’.

  3. VictorZambrananberg says:

JOHAN HELP US ALL FORGET ABOUT LAST NIGHT!

  4. toomanyuniforms says:

Bare knuckles, boys. Bare knuckles. Show them some toughness.

  5. khmustache says:

jimmy rollins is just an unlikeable guy

  6. darkstar73 says:

I seem to remember a Johan gem thrown earlier in the year in CBP, watch for a repeat but better. Line may look something like…8IP, 3 hits, 1 ER. The line up looks great though, plenty of depth with Church back in there and Murphy looking good. If Castillo can draw a walk or 2 tonight, watch out.

  7. BlueCapsOnly says:

Something I never really noticed before. When Delgado bats cleanup our 1st 4 are all infielders. Thats pretty unusual I think for an MLB lineup

  8. therealsince86 says:

I like this lineup against RHP. It’s got no easy outs with the way that Schnieder has been hitting. Hopefully the offense comes out strong again tonight.

  9. Darth Manuel says:

Luis Castillo is worthless in the two hole.. WORTHLESS! Really Luis you can bunt Reyes to second.. What a contribution!

    • therealsince86 says:

      What’s his OBP?

    • NYP-BOS-NYP says:

The bunting thing was Luis’ idea, executed with Willie Randolph’s blessing. There is at least some indication that Jerry Manuel isn’t as crazy about the idea as Willie was. So let’s see how this plays out before we make grand pronouncements.

      • therealsince86 says:

Where did you ever see that it was Castillo’s idea? Willie always bunted Reyes over with all his #2 hitters except for Loduca who could not bunt and always hit it to RF anyway.

  10. CaseStreet says:

    Let’s kick some Philly butt!

    • khmustache says:

      amen…LETS GO METS!!!

    • jimyager says:

I am torn. I dont think that the METS will win this game tonight. The Phillies have the advantage here and with our weak pen and lack of late inning run support I think we are done. Add to that the METS history of loosing these BIG game and breaking our hearts. I am ready for another crushing loss tonight. When you think that we have our ACE on the mound and we should win that is just more reason for us to loose. Unless Santana can throw another complete game. I dont think its worth turning th egame on until the 7th inning, because, thats when the METS will fall apart or , i hope, rise to the top. LETS GO METS !!

  11. teufelshuffle86 says:

Let’s just do like we’ve done in the past. Lose the first game to Philly then take the rest of the series.

  12. therealsince86 says:

Oh no. I thought I was going to get the Mets broadcast tonight but they just switched to the boring Phillies announcers again. They are terrible.

    • khmustache says:

you mean you don’t like minutes of silence followed by the sarge not even attempting to hide his contempt of the mets?

      • therealsince86 says:

Heeeeeeeees juuuuuuuuust soooooo booooooring. I can’t take it. He should announce for the Braves, he sounds like a hick.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

In their intro they made it sound as if the Philles have won every game against the mets this year.

      • therealsince86 says:

I know, if they have made such a habitt of coming back to beat the Mets then why are we up 9-5? How do they keep getting down to us in the 1st place if they are so great?

      • Gary Busey says:

LOL, whenever I have to watch the Philadelphia announcers, I always make sure to turn the game on after the intro. I haaate them.

  13. therealsince86 says:

“It’s became a habit of the Phillies to come from behind and beat the Mets”

What’s the series record for the season you dolt?

  14. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Here’s a story us Mets fans will like:
My teacher is the agent for a pitcher with Phils. There was one game this year where this pitcher was making his debut and it was against the Mets. The guy is a lefty who was facing Delgado and they was a meeting on the mound to decide how to pitch to Delgado. Utley came in saying “Pitch him inside! He tips pitches! Pitch him inside!” Then the pitching coach says to the pitcher “Eh, don’t listen to him, he always says that because (Utley) tips pitches all the time.” So there is another thing to hate about Chase Utley.

  15. EV says:

Boy do we need this one tonight, come on Santana and LETS GO METS!!!!!!

  16. huge_mets_fan11 says:

I freakin hate Tom McCarthy. When he used to announce for the Mets he never got excited after a home run or even a game winning hit. But last night he got excited not only after a home run but every single hit the phils got. It was so annoying.

  17. EV says:

    Yea Jose!!!!!

  18. khmustache says:

    nice start jose

  19. MetsFan4Decades says:

Let’s get a Reyes run here.

  20. rM teM says:

so what? now, no matter what happen’s we have
to wait 2 1/2 hrs to see if it’s enough?

  21. teufelshuffle86 says:

Good start. Let’s play 9 innings tonight fellas!!!

  22. BBmetsfreak36 says:

i hesitate to say…”great reyes is on now jump out to an early lead..always key to win the game”

  23. Flushing_is_Burning says:

what happened to the reward system? Easly got tons of hits last night and he’s not in the lineup, is it because of lingering injuries?

  24. khmustache says:

ryan howard is not good out there.

  25. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Jesus, calm down Jose.

  26. Airfeet says:

maybe Wright can get a base hit here Reyes isnt in scoring position

  27. khmustache says:

    YES!! nice hitting carlos!

  28. anonymii says:

    There’s your run, Johan.

  29. EV says:

Is this a replay of yesterday. You know what that means after the 4th the Mets offense takes the NIGHT OFF.

  30. therealsince86 says:

Man Reyes is incredibly fast, I know that’s a dumb statement but sometimes you are just wow.

  31. BlueCapsOnly says:

Alright nice slide jose, none of that stupid wraparound slide that has become popular.

  32. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Hey, a 1st inning run!!!

How many do we need tonight? 10? 15?

  33. rM teM says:

Is rain in the forecast for philly?
let’s hope it hits at about 9:45

  34. BlueCapsOnly says:

Guy with Kalis says Reya.ss instead of Reyes. It annoys me.

  35. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Yes! A Reyes run.

  36. therealsince86 says:

Who is Rollins pointing to everytime he gets a hit? Is he know as being a devoted Christian?

  37. therealsince86 says:

How can they actually say well hit to RF and it stay in the yard? Anything actually even decently hit will get out of that place.

  38. miker94 says:

little nervous, they are ALL hitting the ball hard off johan

  39. rM teM says:

Imagine a home run derby there?

  40. bkfitz says:

Jimmy Rollins: Only plays the 18 times a year when he faces the Mets.

I can’t wait until he goes into another slump and runs his mouth off about the fans and how they stopped coming to CPB because football started.

    • Flushing_is_Burning says:

Rollins is a pretty good player and say thing as it is, I don’t mind him too much. Shane Victorino on the other hand, I can’t stand

  41. mr_met says:

my god this dude seriously needs to stop heavy-breathing through his nose

  42. khmustache says:

    dang…nice running jerk

  43. miker94 says:

only the mets can actually throw over and NOT get him out! pathetic

  44. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Anyone feel like Johan is very slow to first base on a pick off throw? It seems like 3 or 4 times this year he has picked off the runner at first but the runner was safe on second because he is so slow to first.

  45. khmustache says:

i hate this park…that pickoff was big

    • huge_mets_fan11 says:

That would of been a homer in a any ball park buddy.

      • khmustache says:

2 rows out in the left field corner of cbp…that’s about a 331 foot homer….you’re looking at a deep popout

        • therealsince86 says:

Exactly. Just like the one to Church would have been a shallow pop fly. This place is a joke.

  46. EV says:

    Dammit.

  47. rM teM says:

    oh brother

  48. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    hello

  49. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Nice.

  50. bkfitz says:

Ryan Howard just did the only thing he can do. Great. That pickoff would have helped.

  51. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    BOO-YAAHH!!!!

Santana better go 9 long tonight……

    Choke much, Mutts?

    • therealsince86 says:

It’s so sad you don’t have a blog to go to. Maybe we can start a fund to help you guys get a life.

    • therealsince86 says:

“9 long” ?What, you plan on getting screwed by him tonight?

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

THE CLOSET MET FAN IS BACK! Guy can’t stop thinking about the Mets. Obsess much?

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Shocker that you would wait until the Phils took the lead to show up. Jimmy Rollins sure was right on about Phillies fans.

    • bkfitz says:

Philly fan? There are no Philly fans. They’re just Eagle fans who go to Philly games to practice booing for football season.

      • Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

LOL…ok. It must suck being the bastard step-child of NY baseball…..even when the Yankees stink, the Mutts are still an afterthought

        • therealsince86 says:

Go back to your fantasies about Johan and his 9 long.

        • khmustache says:

kinda like the phillies to the eagles in philly huh?

        • bkfitz says:

It could be worse. I could be a Philly fan whose team base comes to a joke of a stadium to boo their own players and don’t even bother going when football starts so they can boo the Eagles.

        • Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

You mean booing your own players like Beltran his first year? Or Delgado this year? Or Jose Reyes? Oh, you mean like THAT booing….

          LoL…typical MUTTS fans….

        • gomets6091 says:

“even when the Yankees stink, the Mutts are still an afterthought”

right, that’s why the Mets outdrew the Yankees every year from 1964-1976, and again from 1984-1993. That’s 23 years of the Mets 47 years in existence that they’ve outdrawn the Yankees. Explain to me, exactly, how that makes them the “afterthought.”

And by the way, you don’t even want to start going into the Mets vs. Phillies attendance numbers. Don’t you think it’s kinda sad that the Mets, being the 2nd team in their city, consistently have outdrawn the Phillies, the only team in their city, despite playing in a smaller ballpark for most of that time?

  52. therealsince86 says:

Johan that was on you. You might want to throw the ball to 1st before Rollins gets to 2nd. It cost you a HR. Don’t blame that on Delgado.

  53. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Damn.
Keith ‘For you Met fans that are distressed, there’s a lot of game left’.
    Just what I’m afraid of……

  54. NYP-BOS-NYP says:

Johan’s got about half in inning to get himself settled, or this one’s going to get away from him.

  55. miker94 says:

knew that non pickoff would come back to haunt us, damn i hate that fat bastard howard

  56. teufelshuffle86 says:

Phils just need to hold on for 3 more innings and the game will be over.

  57. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

well this games over….at least it didnt take as long as last night.

  58. EV says:

I’m throwing the gauntlet out, can this freaking awful offense step up tonight and score some runs against a pitcher that they should hit hard.

  59. rM teM says:

he alway’s gives up an early one.
no problem yet….the problem comes if he can’t go 9.

  60. danlx13 says:

howard is on steroids…its as simple as that
id like to see what happens to the mets if they dont score in the 1st inning

    • bkfitz says:

He’s not on steroids. He’s just a black Dave Kingman.

    • Stems says:

hes not on steroids.. hes just lucky to be able to hit cheap homers to left

why pitch him outside at all.. he cant hit anything inside geez.. cant they figure that out already

  61. EV says:

I read in the paper today, how Omar isn’t going anywhere. If they don’t make the playoff for the second straight year, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? What does he have naked pictures of the Wilpons for blackmail or something.

    • rM teM says:

and everyone’s talking about it like it’s a sure thing!

    • bkfitz says:

How is it possible? Simple. Who do you replace him with? There are no good options available. If he was fired, Tony Bernazard would take his place.

      • rM teM says:

who do you replace him with? How about
the first person who walks past on the street?

        • khmustache says:

you mean every person on the street who said “cut delgado” “trade pelfrey” “don’t bring in tatis” and “don’t trade lastings for those two?”

        • rM teM says:

are you Omar’s wife? I hate to break
this to you, but he sucks.

        • EV says:

No, I mean the guy, who relied on a 40 year old outfielder this year, that gave slappy castillo a 4 year contract, who did nothing to upgrade the bullpen unless you count Matt Wise. Again, they make the playoffs, let him stay, if they don’t he should go.

        • therealsince86 says:

That is such a lame reply. Are you married to someone because you support them? Ha ha ha. So does that mean he stole your wife and that’s why you don’t like him?

        • rM teM says:

don’t interrupt. start your own argument.

        • therealsince86 says:

No it’s fine to not like Omar. Give examples like your friend EV. But to say anyone who has a different opinion than you do is in the bed with that person is just plain stupid.

        • khmustache says:

i don’t argue that omar hasn’t done the best job, but to say that anybody can do it better is asnine. mets fans spend so much time looking at the negative parts of the game that they forget the posiives too. as for keeping him, i think it should be based on the playoffs…and no i am not his wife, i’m just trying to provide a counterpoint to your incredibly astute points. leave the name calling to the guy from wall st.

      • EV says:

No he wouldn’t they would probably clean house. There’s someone else they could get bk. Again, if they don’t make the playoffs this year, it’s all Willie’s fault right? Omar gets no blame for the last two years, that’s a bunch of crap.

  62. khmustache says:

    nice church…

  63. EV says:

    playoffs

  64. Doc85 says:

gary jinxed us with that stupid “johan hasnt lost since june 28th comment”

  65. therealsince86 says:

Gotta swing at that one kid.

  66. teufelshuffle86 says:

This guy makes Steve Trachsel look like Speedy Gonzalez.

  67. therealsince86 says:

Would be nice for Johan to get an RBI here.

    • bkfitz says:

What would be nice is David Wright and Carlos Beltran hitting so we don’t have to rely on Schneider and Santana to do their job.

  68. miker94 says:

and that my friends is precisely why church and NOT castillo should be in the 2 hole!

  69. danlx13 says:

man on 2nd, no outs……………no runs score

  70. therealsince86 says:

Because Church got a bloop single and stole 2nd?
Actually I don’t have a problem with Church hitting 2nd it’s just having Church lower in the order gives him a lot more RBI chances right now.

  71. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Look you can blame the offense for not adding runs on yesterday but they still scored 7 runs yesterday. That should be enought to win a game. So my point is, eveyone is blaming the offense when the pitching is the problem.

    • EV says:

Again, have you ever heard of TACK ON RUNS. They scored 7 runs by the 4th inning, and then took the rest of the night off.

      • huge_mets_fan11 says:

Re-read my post. Yes you can blame the offense for not adding runs but we had a freakin 7-0 lead. That should be enough to win a game.

  72. nyj0128 says:

The Mets got the lowest amount of strikes outs as hitter’s in the NL and the second most walks. We needed Murphy to hit a ground ball there and get the guy over. And than Schneider’s ground ball could have tied up the game. These little things count. It’s early though. If we don’t score a run in like the 3rd, 4th or 5th inning though – you can kiss this baby good bye.

  73. EV says:

    Crap!!!!

  74. Flushing_is_Burning says:

For god sakes, this is kendrick, the guy has a close to 5 ERA, of course he’s going to dominate the Mets lineup

  75. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    $*%*%*&$&&*#

  76. miker94 says:

as i said in the 1st inning, i’m nervous because everyone is hitting the ball hard off him today. well that about does it, game over! we can’t win with a 7 run lead, how the hell can we win when we are LOSING to this bunch of dousch bags?

  77. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Santana looking good so far.

  78. gipper82475 says:

Remember when a Mets ace was actually an ace? Seaver and Doc were aces.

    Johan is…..very, very good.

  79. nyj0128 says:

Anyone watching the game on the Phillies network? Anyone notice Harry Kalas doing this really irritating old man breathing when ever they aren’t talking? That Howard home run and now this Werth one hurts. That ball is addddaaa here lol Johan sure isn’t cashing in. It always feels like the Phillies get out on him early.

  80. bkfitz says:

Did Gary say anything about Santana not giving up a lot of HRs recently?

  81. miker94 says:

great night for him to not be on! thanks johan

  82. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Gosh Santana it is a 1-2 count, why throw him a fast ball right down the middle?

    • skylog says:

unreal, but it has been the met way all season long. get them on the ropes them provide them the means to get out of it.

  83. metsfan42793 says:

nice job to stop the bleeding santana. keep up the good work.

  84. nyj0128 says:

in a way i kind of feel like an idiot putting so much energy into hoping they’ll tie this game or even take a little lead because the bullpen is bound to blow it. threw good last night, but you know it never lasts. because im a fan i’ll continue watching, but these mets just are letting the phillies get the best of them.

  85. Steviefan84 says:

Mets need to score 1,000,000 runs so the Mets bullpen can save the lead and now it looks like the Phillies have the momentum so far.

  86. metsfan42793 says:

so much for our ace to stop the bleeding

  87. nyj0128 says:

good job to get out of it. now lets score some damn runs. start it out with jose.

  88. EV says:

No wait guys, the bullpen savior is coming Ricardo Rincon lol.

  89. skylog says:

this is looking pretty ugly. i echo murphy not getting the guy over. should have been tie game before the per inning home run. i simply do not understand why they went fastball away on howard with two strikes. jesus, roll the ball up there about 80 mph and he would have struck out. instead, you let him hit one of those down the line home runs that he has made famous.

  90. Stems says:

someone please remind the crappy phillies players who they are…

why do they all do well against the mets and suck all other times.

    happy birthday werth

  91. chokeartistmets says:

good Lord, your team SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE!!

  92. nyj0128 says:

When the Mets starting pitcher’s give up more runs than innings pitched, you know that’s never good. This really isn’t something we’re used too. Nearly are we in 8 innings with only 3 earned from the pen. The Mets got a powerful offense with great plate discipline. It’s all a matter of when the switches go on and off with them. It seems to all come at once. Now wouldn’t be a bad time.

  93. chokeartistmets says:

7 up with 17 to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WAY TO CHOKE YOU PATHETIC LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  94. EV says:

    Another Philadelphia moron on here.

  95. Philly Fan on Wall St. says:

    PILE IT ON PHILS!!

    • SuicideWatch says:

      Go somewhere loser!

      • Eddie says:

you do realize that philly is like the most pathetic city for professional sports teams. When was the last time you guys won anything in any sport? Like the turn of the century, as in 19th century

  96. SuicideWatch says:

    9-4 vs. the Phillies April-July

0-5 vs the Phillies in late August and Sept.

    Write it down

  97. skylog says:

they need to get something going this inning

  98. chokeartistmets says:

7-0 lead……….does not matter with your joke of a team!!!!!!!!!!!

    • SuicideWatch says:

When was the last time the Phillies won the World Series??

1993??? Nah, we all remember Joe Carter…DOH!

  99. skylog says:

maybe let him steal this time?

  100. 911nafstem says:

    Time to hit this clown

  101. Steviefan84 says:

Mets are playing alot more different than they did earlier against the Phillies. They did score early last night but then they stopped and then looked to play tight.

  102. therealsince86 says:

Reyes needs to steal early here. Then Castillo can move him to 3rd.

  103. chokeartistmets says:

Other teams APPLAUD when they see you have that loser Castillo in the lineup!!!! Nice signing Minaya!!!!! They must be from the same island!!!!

  104. chokeartistmets says:

The best part is EVERY ONE

  105. nyj0128 says:

Doesn’t Kendrick have an era of close to 5? He’s averaging a run more a year this year than last. No excuse not to hit the crap out of him. I know the lefty and righty switches Jerry likes, but Fernando could have played tonight. He hit the ball well last night. Anyone remember that 3 run homer before hell broke loose?

  106. 911nafstem says:

    please don’t bunt here Castillo

  107. Steviefan84 says:

Come on Castillo, get your rear on base!

  108. chokeartistmets says:

WE’LL SEND YOU A POST CARD FROM OCTOBER LOSERS!!!!!!!!

  109. 911nafstem says:

wow, Reyes is not a smart man

  110. chokeartistmets says:

    HHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA…..DOUBLE PLAY YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  111. Steviefan84 says:

    Well that stunk

  112. BlueCapsOnly says:

    god f-cking damnit

  113. nyj0128 says:

That’s just horrible base running. I don’t care. I understand it’s a hit and run, but use your damn ability to judge if it’s going to fall in. He knows who’s out in CF. Another inning blown boys.

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

if reyes had only gone 1/2 way he would have been out at second

    • Steviefan84 says:

It seems the Mets can’t manufacture runs, they did it well before they sniffed the Philly air.

    • skylog says:

i don’t even care about the horrid running. castillo kills this team. how many times does he take the 3-1 fastball right down the middle trying to distract the pitcher with a fake bunt? he is not looking to succeed, he is looking to not fail. just cut him already.

  114. skylog says:

i hate castillo. he does not even want to get a hit. god damn unreal. WHY? why does he not run? then the dp? i could have called this one a thousand times.

    • miker94 says:

i second that, why does this guy insist on taking when there is 1 strike?

      • therealsince86 says:

Part of it still is that he is waiting on Reyes to steal and for some reason he never does.

        • skylog says:

agreed. but it “seems” to happen more with castillo in there. they need to sit down and try to figure this out. what good is the speed, if it never gets used? it seems it has only helped jose get farther off the bag on pop ups.

i miss the 200 steal season.

    • EV says:

      Amen about Slappy Castillo

  115. EV says:

Yea like when you got swept in the first round of the playoffs last year moron.

  116. chokeartistmets says:

    KEEP PLAYING CASTILLO PLEASE!!!!!!!

THE GUY CANNOT HIT THE BALL HARD. TEAMS PLAY HIM LIKE HE IS A PITCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  117. 911nafstem says:

I get the feeling the Mets are going to find a way to dump Castillo after this season, especially if they miss the playoffs

    • skylog says:

not soon enough if you ask me. he should not smell an at bat unless argenis and damion are on the dl. check that, and murphy. heck, i would bring backman and teufel back before i would let him play.

  118. Tha Prowler says:

wat tha fcuk was jose lookin’ at ??? the play is rite in front of him ????? a bunch of jokers……this team.

  119. teufelshuffle86 says:

Does Reyes know how to run the f*king bases? Tha should have been the second time he got doubled off.

  120. nyj0128 says:

chokeartistmets – are you just an anti-mets guy or are you actually a phillies fan? you know, there’s a lot of anti-phillies fans at the phillies game who wear mets shirts just in spite. you should either be on your phillies ”phorum” or get a better hobby. we all know if we win this game, you’ll be too much of a coward to be be here

  121. therealsince86 says:

Why was Reyes not already on 2nd? Can we please be aggressive and steal early in the count? Is this on Manuel? Reyes seems to wait way to long to go and does not go enough anymore.

  122. chokeartistmets says:

ANOTHER SCORELESS INNING BY THE LOSER METS!!!!!!!!!!

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

ANOTHER YEAR OF LIVING IN YOUR MOMMY’S BASEMENT AND NEVER TOUCHING A GIRL!!!

LOOK, I CAN WRITE IN CAPS TOO.

      I’M SO AWSOME YAAAAAAAAAAAY YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

  123. X-Man says:

Typical, typical, typical, typical Castillo AB. Takes a 3-1 right down the middle and then “Slaps” at a 3-2 and lift a shallow fly ball to center for an out. Unbeleivable. Human rally killer.

  124. Stems says:

    Reyes…. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

little leaguers have better instincts than that….

    • khmustache says:

the hit and run was on and victorino made a great catch

      • Stems says:

if the ball is in the air… you stop and make sure it falls..

        again.. little leaguers kno that.

      • domosnacks5 says:

And Reyes made a boneheaded play, as Keith said, no reason to be AROUND second on that, once you see the ball is hit in the air, you FREEZE and see where it is. I’ve given Reyes some slack but this is atleast the 4th time I’ve seen him doubled up off first for the same crap. Down 2 runs, 0 outs, just KILLS a rally.

He of all people should know we can’t score unless he’s leading off an inning, and he puts the inning to an end before we can even get going.

      • therealsince86 says:

Why hit and run with Reyes? Why not run then hit? I just don’t understand why you don’t just let Reyes be Reyes. How many steals did he have last year at this point? I know you wanted to save him but now is why you were saving him. Let him go.

  125. fatburrell92 says:

screw the hit and run just have Reyes steal, Coste can’t throw out crap.

  126. domosnacks5 says:

Hey you philly scum, your team won just as many playoff games as we did last year.

    PWNED

  127. teufelshuffle86 says:

Leave it to the Mets to make this hack look like Nolan Ryan. Game is probably over.

  128. miker94 says:

    Dear Omar,

I’m begging you push Castillo off of the bench so he can get a boo-boo on his bad knee. Then we don’t have to see his smug face on the field ever again. Again Mr. Minaya, I am begging you!!!

    Sincerely,

    Miker94

  129. hi5wright says:

What a beautiful inning that was.

  130. chokeartistmets says:

LOOK HOW YOUR TEAM JUST LAYS DOWN UNDER PRESSURE!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

    FOLD LIKE A ROAD MAP!!!!!!!!!!!

    THE METS ARE SCARED!!!!!!!!!!

    • gomets6091 says:

that’s why we’re posting in all caps on the Phillies message board….oh, wait, no that’s you.

  131. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

david wright is an excellent hitter and i understand he goes to RF very well…but someone needs to tell him where he is playing and that LF is a joke and its ok to pull the ball when youre up in the count 3-1 and then get the same pitch 2 more times in a row on 3-2.

  132. Darth Manuel says:

nothing good will ever happen with Castillo on this roster. His at bats are long and end up making Reyes work way to hard. No pitcher will ever be scared and will constantly spend Castillo’s entire at bat trying to keep Reyes close. I can’t stand this guy..

    • therealsince86 says:

Work to hard? How about actually have Reyes steal a base? You know Castillo is not swinging for at least 4 pitches so why not run before he gets 2 strikes?

  133. chokeartistmets says:

HEY TEUFFEL…..PROBLEM IS I WONT BE GOING ANYWHERE BECAUSE YOUR TEAM WILL NOT TAKE THE LEAD……

  134. skylog says:

there needs to be some kind of wakeup soon in this game. they need a serious momentum change or this is only going to get worse.

  135. chokeartistmets says:

by the way, thanks for signing Castillo through 2011!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha, losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  136. teufelshuffle86 says:

Funny how with the return of Castillo the Mets are back in that funk where they seem like the just don’t care. When he went on the DL this team started to play with a spark. Now he’s back and they are the same dead team they were in May. Not only can’t he hit but he just brings the moral of this team down to nothing. Guy is a f*king cancer in this clubhouse.

    • X-Man says:

A 4-year cancer, get use to it my man.

    • therealsince86 says:

Were we playing with spark last night when we jumped out to a 7 run lead? I understand people don’t like Castillo and he has been terrible this season but the idea that he changes the real stars on the team is just silly. He is a role player and having a bad season. However, he is no where near the root of all evil.

    • miker94 says:

i completely agree! hopefully jerry sees that also and does something about it

    • skylog says:

it is so clear it is frightening. forget the manual / willie numbers, show me the records with / without castillo

  137. fatburrell92 says:

    Finally we get rollins out.

  138. chokeartistmets says:

just read today that Minaya is in line for a contract extension!!! thank God!!!!!!!

more years of watching the Mets suck!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone named Gonzalez, Rodriguez, or Ramirez must be happy!!! hahahahahhahaha

  139. 911nafstem says:

I’ve been to Philadelphia enough to know that it is an inferiority complex. It’s a poor man’s Boston. A haven for white trash.

    • gomets6091 says:

it’s a homeless mans Boston. At least Boston had the Celtics, so even when the Sox and Pats sucked, they won a lot. Philly has…well, the A’s were good around the turn of the century, but of course they abandoned the city….

  140. fatburrell92 says:

This ballpark is the reason why we need to add a big slugger to the lineup. The only way you win here is with home runs.

  141. Steviefan84 says:

    A 1 – 2 – 3 inning, cue the inspirational music!

  142. chokeartistmets says:

you will NEVER see first place again!!!!!!! BURN THAT DUMP SHEA TO THE GROUND AND LET ME PISS ON THE ASHES!!!!!!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  143. chokeartistmets says:

WHERE IS BRIAN LAWRENCE OR JOSE LIMA???? HAHAHAHAH, YOU PATHETIC LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE OWN JOHAN!!!! WE OWN WRIGHT!!! AND WE OWN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

    SUCK IT!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  144. whoisyourdaddy says:

We need to stop blaming everything on the friggin ballpark. If you check ESPN.com’s ballpark factors, CBP is the most neutral park in terms of HRs and scoring – much of CBPs rep was from the first two years before they moved the fences back. And they don’t move them back futher when the Mets are up.

    • 911nafstem says:

I only bring up the ballpark when people try to sell Utley as one of the greatest hitting 2nd basemen in history

    • skylog says:

while agree the numbers are with you this season, last year it was far and away the leader in hrs. 06 it was 7. 05 it was 2.

  145. EV says:

Hey jerk off, I can’t wait until the Cubs SWEEP YOUR CRAPPY TEAM this weekend.

  146. Steviefan84 says:

Sheesh, let’s try avoiding the Phillies gloves this time. lol

  147. chokeartistmets says:

“WE CANT WIN AT CBP, THE PARK IS UNFAIR”

GO CRY ME A RIVER YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!!!

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

hmm losers, don’t the phillies have the most losses in the history of the world?

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Mets record at CBP this year: 5-3

      • skylog says:

and while i will give the phillies credit for their comebacks, i think 3 or 4 of their wins this season against the mets were implosions by the mets pen.

  148. Darth Manuel says:

Luis Castillo has lost his speed, his range and his confidence. Everything that made him great 5 years ago is gone. He wouldn’t make any roster in this league if he had to play for it. Omar needs to eat crow and just release him.. He is a disaster.

  149. chokeartistmets says:

HEY EV…………..LIKE THE CUBS SWEPT YOU AT WRIGLEY???? YOU LOSER.

  150. khmustache says:

    there ya go carlos

  151. chokeartistmets says:

“Tell Jimmy Rollins we are the team to beat.” – ” CARLOS SUCKTRAN

hahahahhahaha – nice call you overpaid LOSER

“The 0-2 from Wainwright……..STRUCK HIM OUT.”

  152. 911nafstem says:

    hmmm, that was ball 4

  153. whoisyourdaddy says:

I make a reasonable point about the ballpark, and I get “jerk off”? Genius. Get off the computer at the library trailer trash – some 10-year old needs to do a book report.

  154. Steviefan84 says:

Atta’ Boy Church! Let’s score runs before the later innings.

  155. chokeartistmets says:

EV……………….YOU WERE SWEPT IN 4 BY THE PADRES…………GO CRAWL UNDER YOUR PARENT’S BED LOSER!!!!!!!!!!

  156. EV says:

No, I think I will go into your mom’s bed retard.

  157. chokeartistmets says:

what a shock…..gary, keith, and ron making excuses!!!!!!!!

    “hitting it hard.”

HOWARD AND WERTH HIT IT HARD MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  158. Steviefan84 says:

All the Phillies need is to hold up their gloves, close their eyes and the balls the Mets hit fall into their gloves. They are hitting the balls hard but nothing is falling.

    • X-Man says:

Except Castillo, I would fall off my chair if I ever, EVER so him hit a ball hard. Even the two HRs he hit this year were like caught in some freak jet-stream and upper air turbulent that carried it out.

  159. chokeartistmets says:

Good comeback EV……………UNFORUNATELY YOUR TEAM WONT BE COMING BACK TONIGHT SCUMBAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  160. jimyager says:

I had a bad feeling about this game before it started. I felt that the Phillies would win, because, we have our ACE on the mound and the METS love to loose BIG games and break our hearts. I dont care if the PHILLIES win all 5 games we play as long as WE make the playoffs :} This game was over before it started. Lets just concede the game now and the 3 we play at Shea and give these bume a 3 game lead in the division and see how long they can hold it?

  161. 911nafstem says:

It’s going to be brutal having Schneider in the lineup every game now

    • skylog says:

agreed. he came to life for a few games, but he is a killer in that 8 slot. frankly, i at least get the feeling he calls a horrid game. it seems to me all the talk of his defense and handling pitchers was a crock. he has looked bad with the glove almost all season other than the frist week or so he was playing.

and again, i go back to that outside fastball call on howard.i mean, come on, that is more or less where he looks to go deep. throw him some junk, send him to the bench, end of inning.

      • X-Man says:

So between Schneider, the Pitcher and now Castillo, we have three almost sure automatic outs. Nice.

        • therealsince86 says:

Like A. Reyes or most nights Easley, get out any less than Schnieder and Castillo?

  162. chokeartistmets says:

EVEN WHEN WE WERE DOWN 7-0 LAST NIGHT YOU ALL KNEW THE PHILS WOULD COME BACK AND WIN AND SMOKE YOU!!

YOU ARE DOWN 3-1 AND YOU KNOW ITS OVER!!!

    HOW SAD!!!!!!!! SUCK IT!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • DavidDog says:

find ur own blog, loser. Don’t you guys have 10.000 losses? I believe that makes you the losingest entity in the history of the universe. Not to mention the losingest team in the losingest city in the world.

  163. whoisyourdaddy says:

Nice intelligent baseball talk going on here. I like how the Rockies sweep keeps getting brought up – un, they beat everyone in every game for a month. Mets highlights since 2000 include losing a game 7 to the worst champ ever and cowering to Clemens and the Yankees.

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

Ha! intelligent baseball talk? See your man above

      • therealsince86 says:

Why on Earth would an intelligent baseball fan be a Phillies fan anyway? They would have to feel very lonely.

        • skylog says:

and i am sure there are many, but i have yet to meet one…and i am in pa. all of the ones i know only care of late because of their limited success. even now, i know as soon as the e-a-g-l-e-s start playing they won’t even care at all….unless they win something

    • skylog says:

sad, then, that all of that is better than getting swept in three straight after waiting 15 years to even smell the playoffs.

    • LeftCoastMetsFan says:

how many on that yankee line up would later prove to be roided up?

    • gomets6091 says:

they were the first team to beat the Yankees in the World Series in 4 years, so if they were cowering, what were all the other NL teams doing, pissing themselves?

  164. khmustache says:

    nice dp!

  165. EV says:

They didn’t beat the Red Sox did they, nope they got swept. 2000, at least we made the World Series what have the Phillies done since 2000 moron?

    • whoisyourdaddy says:

Yes – Phillies have no championships since 1980 (city of losers, remember?). Just like the Mets have none since 1986. Though next year you’ll turn your Mets hat inside-out and show your Yankee pride, in case they get good again.

“Jerk off” “retard” (feel free to cut and paste those – you’re working so hard whith only one hand on the keyboard). Yea yea, the other is in my mother. Good comeback!

  166. DavidDog says:

Hello everyone. I must confess I’m with the Castillo haters on this one, and don’t care what his obp is. You could just smell his return bringing bad vibes with it. The guy has been a declining player for some time, and even in his “hey-day” (i used to follow the marlins quite closely some years back, as i was spending lots of time in fla) was somewhat of a clubhouse downer: he’s aloof, not personable, and not particularly bright. Never brought anything good to these mets.

More importantly, his numbers are just dreadful. He’s been unwatchable most of his time with the Mets, then he’ll go on a 10-day “hot streak” (mainly singles and walks, very rarely in the clutch) to make his numbers respectable. He also had something like 1 hit in 20 minor league games, and u throw him in the 2-hole of a contending lineup for the stretch run??? Besides, he’s neither the fielder nor baserunner he once was, and a.reyes was actually doing well of late. I vote for getting this man out of the line-up PRONTO! Suck it up, Omar, bench him and eat up the millions, this guy aint bringin us any wins!

    • X-Man says:

You could have just saved allot of writing and summerized Castillo inn two words……………………A Waste.

  167. khmustache says:

nice inning….cmon boys wake up the bats!!!

  168. Airfeet says:

The Mets might suck but the phillies are just as much a CHOKE team. They will NEVER make it past the first round. The only reason they MADE the playoffs last year is cuz we handed it to htem, otherwise they would NEVER get in

  169. khmustache says:

wow…this topdot commercial is awful…bring back guiseppe!

  170. Steviefan84 says:

GO METS! Let’s start swinging the bats!

  171. chokeartistmets says:

NOT ONE OF YOU LOSERS REALLY THINK YOU WILL COME BACK AND WIN……AND THAT IS SAD

  172. khmustache says:

making fun of the groom to be!…nice

  173. miker94 says:

how do you walk a guy who has more strikeouts than any human on earth? well i tell ya, i hate to be negative but i’m thinking that these last few months have been a tease to mets fans. we all forget how the year began and how last year ended. this team hasn’t changed much and it seems now that castillo is back, they are back to playing the same pathetic, no heart, no fight way. 3 months ago, if anyone here thought we’d be in a race down the stretch I’d say you are a mindreader. either way, i’m thinking the real team is back and we are all going to be very disappointed if our hearts are deadset on making the playoffs. i know it sucks, and it breaks my heart, but it is the truth. the mets will be about 4 or 5 games out by the end of the season and jerry will be fired. then who knows what happens. all i can say is, i pray that pedro and castillo are not members of the 2009 mets or we might as well kiss that season goodbye also!

  174. JoseReyesForPresident says:

no wonder we losing castillo playing….crap….and phils fans shut it plz seriously 1 world series ring in 100 years or more its nothing to be happy about very sad indeed.

  175. skylog says:

all they need is a bloop and a bomb.

  176. khmustache says:

    there ya go luis!

  177. Steviefan84 says:

A base hit with bases empty, surprise, surprise. Anyway, let’s go Wright!

  178. skylog says:

david needs to wake the f up

  179. miker94 says:

sure he can get a hit when no one is on base. thanks genius!

    • therealsince86 says:

He has the highest average on the team with RISP and RISP2/O.

      You are an idiot.

      • miker94 says:

moron, i was talking about castillo, and if ur one of the FEW who actually think he should be in the lineup, you my friend, are the idiot!

  180. 911nafstem says:

would a game tying homer in this cracker jack box be asking too much?

    • Steviefan84 says:

It’s asking for way too much and guess what? We are getting into the later innings, the bats will turn into wet newspapers playing pepper with the infielders.

  181. chokeartistmets says:

I will bet any of you right now that the Phils win this game. I will give anyone 5-1 odds right now. Any takers? I am dead serious. Let’s go losers.

    • 911nafstem says:

I’d bet you, but you’re too stupid to have a job

    • skylog says:

why are even wasting your time here? last nite you were crying when they were down 7. i don’t want to hear whatever crap you are peddling we all know it. if you really are a fan, go hang out with your phans and stop wasting your time here. you aren’t really giving your team any respect by your moronic opnions. you are just justifying what everyone thinks of phillie fans anyway.

  182. 911nafstem says:

Mets getting shut down by a piece of sht pitcher….that sounds about right

  183. khmustache says:

    crap

  184. Steviefan84 says:

    For goodness sakes Wright

  185. miker94 says:

    mr unclutch strikes again

  186. skylog says:

david is one of those “lost” periods. his at bats have been truly horrid.

  187. X-Man says:

Just wondering how long it’s going to take for Manuel to realize that as long as castillo is on this team, the Mets are going no-where. Hopefully he realizes it quick before it’s too late..

I can just picture all the Castillo Lovers reading these posts about Castillo and biting their tongue and shaking their heads. LOL

    • 911nafstem says:

Castillo didn’t play last night when the Mets blew a 7-0 lead and the offense laid down and died. Can’t blame everything on him

    • therealsince86 says:

I am a defender of the helpless, not a Castillo lover. He has been terrible this season but is no where near the root of all evil that you guys make him out to be. He is a role player and that’s about it.

      • X-Man says:

a $26 MIllion role player? LOL (i might be off a couple of Mil here or there but you get my drift).

        • therealsince86 says:

No I don’t. He is a role player just like Schnieder who is overpaid as well. They did not pay him to be a star they paid him to be what he was last year when he came in. A .300 hitter with a .380 OBP. So far this season he has not lived up to that expectation. I would think it would be because he has been injured all season. If not and he is finished then we lost a lot of money and move on.

      • DavidDog says:

see my post above. bad vibes, bad clubhouse presence. And you throw him in the starting lineup after one of the wors slumps in the history of ….. the Florida State League!!!

  188. teufelshuffle86 says:

When was the last time David Wright got a clutch hit?

  189. Eggman says:

DavidROD coming up huge in this series. eh?

  190. hi5wright says:

    Niiiiiice Wright.
    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

  191. foul bunt strikeout says:

    thanks for coming out wright

This team might be out of it by the end of the weekend if they dont wake up soon

  192. chokeartistmets says:

lets go 911…………put your money where your mouth is

  193. chokeartistmets says:

    YOUR SEASON IS OVER LOSERS!!!!!!!

WE WILL TAKE THE CUBS DOWN AFTER YOU!!!!!!!!!

Maybe Omar is looking for help in the Mexican League!!! hahhahaha

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Will you come by and visit after the Cubs take 3 of 4? Probably not, after all:

“Phillies fans are frontrunners” – Jimmy Rollins

  194. das2ble says:

I would just love to see Santana drill a Phillie in the head right here

  195. Steviefan84 says:

Yeah, by the way Santana, if you haven’t heard by now, Mets bats go into hibernation so try not to give up runs.

  196. khmustache says:

nice catch kid! he’s starting to look more comfortable out there (knock on wood…don’t want to be a cohen)

  197. das2ble says:

I love how every fly ball looks like it is gone in this garbage park. It is like Coors Field East

  198. X-Man says:

There really needs to be some kind of Moderation on this site.

  199. 911nafstem says:

Brett Myers, now THAT is a guy I’d like to see drilled in the head (without a helmet)

  200. das2ble says:

    How old is Kendrick? 12?

  201. chokeartistmets says:

BRETT MYERS WOULD TAKE ANY OF YOU DOWN!!!!!!!!! LIKE THAT CHEATING WIFE OF HIS!!!!!!!!! HE ROUGHED HER UP!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  202. Steviefan84 says:

I expected Santana to walk Rollins if he got behind. He has gotten too many big hits although Utley is no walk in the park.

  203. 1985Mets says:

THE Siladelphia, Sillies = FRONT RUNNERS FANS

  204. khmustache says:

    nice play castillo!

  205. DavidDog says:

not sure if it’s me or the skewed camera angles at cbp, but it looks like some frikken bad calls on balls and strikes too

  206. 1985Mets says:

I believe TATIS should be in Left Field today, NOT murphy….

    • therealsince86 says:

      Against a RH?

      • 1985Mets says:

Yeah, I still believe that this kid murphy got on a really HOT start. I would take over TATIS any day. BTW we can argue that TATIS is way better hitter than Murphy,

      • gomets6091 says:

        Tatis’ splits:

        vs. RHP: .284/.347/.535/.883, 10 HR (155 AB)
        vs. LHP: .329/.398/.415/.812, 1 HR (82 AB)

He hits righties better than he hits lefties, it’d be a waste to leave him on the bench against righties from here on out

        • 1985Mets says:

I understand, BUT this KID Murphy is NOT ready for this. Now im not dismissing that he he not good. But i would rather put Tatis because of EXPERIENCE.

        • gomets6091 says:

          umm…I’m agreeing with you.

  207. teufelshuffle86 says:

Can we get at least one here?

  208. 911nafstem says:

Maybe the Mets are pulling a George Constanza and are going to do all their hitting late in the game tonight

  209. 1985Mets says:

Any one in here thinks we can pick up Fuentes if we lose today

  210. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Goodbye! Nice going, Carlos.

  211. khmustache says:

    DELGADO!!!!!!!!!!!

  212. DavidDog says:

on another note, I really abhor manuel for just shelfing evans now that he was getting hot, and sticking with murphy whose fairytale has clearly encountered reality

  213. chokeartistmets says:

WE ALL KNOW THAT FREAK DELGADO IS ON ROIDS THIS YEAR. SO IF YOU SUPPORT THAT, YOUR A LOSER.

  214. EV says:

    1 Run Game Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  215. hi5wright says:

    Thank you Delgado.

  216. 1985Mets says:

    DELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLGAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HR baby

  217. 911nafstem says:

okay Beltran, try not to be a cold shower this time

  218. Flushing_is_Burning says:

wow my computer crashed after Werth’s HR in the 2nd… just got it back up… not a good sign

  219. khmustache says:

    nice d kid!

  220. 911nafstem says:

is it possible? are the Mets actually going to get some breaks for once?

  221. teufelshuffle86 says:

I’ll take it. Let’s get him in!!!

  222. Tha Prowler says:

daviddog give it a rest…if manuel would’ve played evans during the last week every mets fan would be roastin his azz. for sitting murph n his hot bat. geez some of yall kill me…..

  223. fatburrell92 says:

If we don’t win this game at least we’ll have tired out Philly’s relievers for the cubs series. I will be shocked if they get anything better than a split in that series.

  224. miker94 says:

does ANYONE here actually like this tool therealsince86? man this guy is annoying!

    • therealsince86 says:

You still pissed that I have shown you up ever since you came to this site?

      • miker94 says:

you wish little boy! you have ZERO baseball intelligence and nothing worthy to say. all you do is read other people’s posts and immediately disagree with them. no matter what it is. pretty pathetic if you ask me. seems you are looking for some sort of relationship, regardless whether it’s positive or negative. i think you should go see a shrink. you need help buddy! i feel for you. it’s ok though, your mommy still loves you….maybe

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Actually, yes. He’s had some relevant opinions – whether or not I always agree is another issue – lol.

  225. 1985Mets says:

Come on guys LETS get a RALLY going

  226. 911nafstem says:

great, another crappy pitcher who the Mets can line out on

  227. Tha Prowler says:

time for some friggin payback…lets get allll up in that filly bullpen now..!!!!! no outs……..

  228. hi5wright says:

    C’mon Church

  229. chokeartistmets says:

HOPEFULLY HE JUST GOT ANOTHER CONCUSSION!!! NICE AT BAT LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  230. miker94 says:

and that’ll do it for this inning…

  231. 911nafstem says:

great job Mets! god this team is pathetic

  232. khmustache says:

    son of a…

  233. Airfeet says:

Can we get NICK EVANS in…please!!!!!!

  234. hi5wright says:

Those were the quickest 3 outs. SICK.

  235. miker94 says:

hate to say it, but tatis should never be out of this lineup. mets are in a race here, and they have a guy with experience AND he is playing well…that’s a no brainer. why put a rookie in?

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Jerry seems to be a little bit infatuated with the whole righty-lefty matchup thing.

      • miker94 says:

yeah, you are right. but sometimes you should forget all that….like now

        • therealsince86 says:

I agree, especially in the pen right now. As for Tatis, I think Murphy still can help the team but Tatis might have been better for this series. There is a lot of pressure, obviously. That is why I am worried about brining Niese up next week too.

  236. fatburrell92 says:

the mets are pathetic they can’t get a hit off a fat old man.

  237. 911nafstem says:

the best part is the Mets lead off next inning with the Schneider/pitcher automatic out combo

  238. chokeartistmets says:

EYRE HAS BEEN AMAZING FOR US!!!! CLEARED WAIVERS AND ANYONE COULD HAVE HAD HIM. OUR GM GETS HIM. YOUR GM DOES NOT BECAUSE HE IS WHITE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • 911nafstem says:

who’s “us”? no one here considers you a true Philly fan, just a jester

    • MrDudeAndStuff says:

I’m a Philly fan and I do read the Metsblog also because I like getting the opposing viewpoint.

It is obnoxious posts and people like you that cause such negativity towards us on these threads.

And the same goes vice versa to the Mets fans who post the same way over at Beerleaguer and PhilliesNation.

      Talk baseball guys, seriously.

  239. J0eSmiTh says:

where was tatis? murphy sucks right now

    • 1985Mets says:

Like i said before THIS KID Murphy, just got to a really HoT start. I dont think he should start.

      • NYP-BOS-NYP says:

It’s possible, but if Murphy’s strong start was just a flash in the pan / lightning in a bottle thing, then he had an awful lot of people fooled.

  240. jimyager says:

Does anybody remember when beating the Yankees in the subway series was the highlight of a METS fans season? Thats because the Yankees where the best team and to beat them was like our version of the playoffs. Well, let the Phillies enjoy themselves and have fun these two days, its all they will have. When we are playing in October they will all be on the golf course talking about these two games :} They are losers and there fans are as well. They are not confident about the team and know that 2007 was just a fluke. They are afraid that if they dont beat the METS it will prove that. HAVE FUN PHILLIES, in the end you will be the losers you and that dumb costume freak of yours .

  241. chokeartistmets says:

man that Murphy kid is real good!!!!!!!

    0 for 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PATHETIC

  242. anrst says:

I can’t beleive how dominant the phils pen is…

  243. chokeartistmets says:

911 you are too tough for me!!!!!!!!

    TYPICAL METS TRASH!!!

    SUCK IT!!!

    • 911nafstem says:

tough? I like you, the world needs stupid people to make others feel better. It’s just that I found it amusing you typed “us” when, again, no one here considers you a Philly fan

  244. gomets6091 says:

I hate to point this out, b/c I like the kid, but over his last 12 games Murphy is batting .185/.281/.185, obviously with no extra base hits. I think the magic has worn off.

    • khmustache says:

scouting report got out…he just needs to figure out how to adjust

      • therealsince86 says:

Kinda funny but he’s the antiminor leaguer. He is patient and hits offspeed pitches better than fastballs. It prob. took a while for the teams to catch on to that.

        • khmustache says:

anitminor leaguer…i like that, he is seeing a lot more fastballs lately. i’d like to see him swing away more though, it’s almost like he became too patient

  245. chokeartistmets says:

JO-SUCK GIVES THE RUN RIGHT BACK!!!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  246. Airfeet says:

    Murphy sucks

  247. chokeartistmets says:

Schneider, Santana, Reyes in the 7th………..HAHAHAHA….tough lineup LOL

phils pen will shut that crew down on 8 pitches

  248. 911nafstem says:

    great, the flaming hawaiin

    • chokeartistmets says:

he owns the Mets………..this comment coming from the team that employed Mike Piazza

  249. 1985Mets says:

I dont think Johan is tipping his pitches, The SILLIES r stealing sings again

  250. DavidDog says:

does anyone else think Werth looks kinda like a warewolf?

  251. fatburrell92 says:

looks like this is Santana’s final inning.

  252. khmustache says:

    nice!

  253. therealsince86 says:

How hard would it be to steal signs if the TV guys are zooming in on his grip?

  254. DavidDog says:

gotta admire johan. gave them a chance to win after a rough start and without his good stuff

  255. 1985Mets says:

I would put santana back on…

    • DavidDog says:

no chance. also his spot in the lineup is coming up this inning. they’re gonna lift him and for once i agree

  256. MetsFan4Decades says:

Nice effort, but not quite good enough Johan. We needed 9 from you tonight – lol.
Then again, the offense can kick up a notch here tonight. Anytime they want to get it going would be fine with me. Preferably by the 9th…….

  257. therealsince86 says:

I am affraid to take him out but he is over 100 pitches and is due up 2nd. I guess you have to.

  258. fatburrell92 says:

106 pitches through 6. Would you send him out? He laboured a lot though. Id give him a shot still for the 7th cause it’s the bottom of the order.

    • Flushing_is_Burning says:

he throw a lot of pitches his last start too, but managed to keep it scoreless, not so lucky tonight

  259. Steviefan84 says:

Good job santana, now let’s score some RUNS!!

  260. D-Day says:

honestly, and mind you im not giving up on this game at all, but if the mets lose tonight im really not that worried. we have a three game set in september at shea which i think will be the real deciding factor. if we can bet the teams were supposed to than well be in it till the end. the phillies offense is more bipolar than ours at times so one good streak buy us and a stumble by them and well have first place back in no time. but how about we just take first tonight and shut that philly ballpark up! LETS GO METS!!!!

  261. metsforever says:

9 outs from these guys? good luck with that. This will be a blowout

  262. D-Day says:

now do you pinch hit for santana or send him out for the 7th

  263. metsforever says:

Too bad the Mets never got the memo that major league games go 9 innings. Have they ever scored after the 5th?

  264. 911nafstem says:

    Schneider is worthless

  265. chokeartistmets says:

    YOU CANNOT HIT OUR PEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • metsforever says:

Don’t get too excited. The Mets can’t hit anyone’s pen. We don’t score after the 5th. I think it’s one of those baseball unwritten rules.

  266. Steviefan84 says:

Well that’s it from Santana, not great but he hung in there and fought his way through 6, I thought it was a gutty performance.

    • D-Day says:

even if the guy doesnt have a good game he always keeps us in it. thats and ace!

      • Steviefan84 says:

Agreed but unfortunately if the Mets don’t come up with the win, it will be Santana not going deep and not coming up big even though Santana has came up big a few times when the Mets needed him the most.

  267. D-Day says:

2-3 innings of bullpen, im a little nervous now

  268. chokeartistmets says:

WILL YOU EVEN GET A BASE RUNNER AGAINST THE PHILS PEN?????

    YOU ARE A FRIGGIN JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

      Probably not. But who cares?

    • fatburrell92 says:

yeah who cares. The Phillies are gay. Even if they win this game they’ll go nowhere. And My guys the Cubs are gonna rape them this weekend, and we’ll prob have 1st place again by next monday. Just wait till you guys come to Shea and Perez dominates you idiots, Howard can’t even hit a fair ball against him.

  269. Flushing_is_Burning says:

well, at least he kept us close I guess…

  270. chokeartistmets says:

THE HIGHEST PAID SP IN BASEBALL…

“AT LEAST HE KEPT IT CLOSE”??????????????

    WHAT LOSERS………………………………

  271. Steviefan84 says:

Well Erye is looking like Cy Young as well.

  272. Flushing_is_Burning says:

Let’s start a fund for the Phillies fan for a new keyboard, obviously his cap lock is broken.

  273. chokeartistmets says:

COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN BY EYRE……..I FRIGGIN LOVE IT

  274. Tha Prowler says:

how’s the great nick evans look now…? leave manuel alone.

  275. chokeartistmets says:

YOU WILL NOT GET A BASE RUNNER AGAINST THIS PEN……

YOUR TEAM JUST CHOKES UP IN BIG SPOTS…..SO SAD

    YOU CANT EVEN DEFEND IT

    • el_giacomo says:

You are a wonderful human being. I feel blessed to be honored by your words of wisdom.

  276. NYP-BOS-NYP says:

Well, guys, I’m not usually one of the game over / season over types, but I gotta call this one. Game over. Season, we’ll see, but this game’s not going anywhere good.

  277. Eggman says:

    Scott F’n Eyre.

    Simply incredible.

    • Flushing_is_Burning says:

Mets 08 season in a nutshell

    • washtiger says:

Why is it that the entire team goes into a hitting funk at the same time?

I just can’t believe we can’t get something going against their pen… Are they really that lights out, or do we just stink?

Would be nice to string together 3-4 hits…

  278. Steviefan84 says:

Come on Stokes, keep the score where it is. And can this bullpen not put a man on to start off an inning?

  279. 1985Mets says:

Im telling you they need to change the signs……

  280. gomets6091 says:

I would love to see the percentage of leadoff batters that get on against this bullpen…it’s gotta be astronomical

    • Steviefan84 says:

I know Pedro Felliciano’s numbers aren’t pretty, it’s like a position players batting line two months into the season. The rest of the bullpen mustn’t fair any better.

  281. khmustache says:

just what the doctor ordered…one more

  282. 911nafstem says:

I’d be more pumped if I thought the Mets had a chance in hell to score again

  283. JoseReyesForPresident says:

well guys i have faith but you know this team never scores in late innings all i could do is hope!

  284. fatburrell92 says:

    pitch a freakin strike.

  285. miker94 says:

reyes would have popped that last pitch up to the 2nd baseman

  286. 1985Mets says:

stokes just changed the signs……… finaly

  287. fatburrell92 says:

why the hell can’t this guy throw a stike?

  288. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    oh for god sakes

  289. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

If Schneider stops throwing people out, he’s flirting with being totally worthless.

  290. 1985Mets says:

its a set up… well get Burrell out

  291. 911nafstem says:

oh great, please, stall so Feliciano can save us

  292. Steviefan84 says:

Brian really has no arm right now, I don’t know what he did in the Expos/Nationals team but his defense looks pretty bad.

  293. gomets6091 says:

I hate the guy, but he NEVER gets thrown out stealing. It’s really annoying

  294. therealsince86 says:

And this is why you don’t have a great hitter hitting #2. If your lead off guy steals then they will walk you. LOL, ok I am stretching it a little much.

  295. khmustache says:

paddin the stats huh. imagine if jose did that, the media would crucify him, rollins would call him immature, wallace matthews would write a 3 page article on how stupid he plays…etc…

  296. washtiger says:

How many stolen bases for the Phillies these two games. At least they’re not all off of Schneider…

  297. Flushing_is_Burning says:

you can’t have 2 men on for the Pat the Bat

  298. the_other_matt says:

Seriously…why cant we just drill Utley instead of the INT walk?

  299. 1985Mets says:

    WHAT did i say………..

  300. washtiger says:

Pinch hit for Castillo leading off the 8th?

  301. anrst says:

how great is brian stokes… how great to have a guy out of the pen in the late innings who tops out over 95 mph

  302. therealsince86 says:

Funny but at the begining of the game I said it would take 4 runs to win the game and that’s right where we are.
If we can’t score 2 nights in a row against Rudy Seanez then we just don’t deserve to win no matter what. Forget the blown lead or Castillo and Murphy. That would be the main reason but also a reason for hope as that we know that he would never pitch well against any other team.

  303. fatburrell92 says:

This is our final shot. Lets not blow it here we need a bloop and a blast.

  304. 911nafstem says:

    kill yourself Castillo

  305. 1985Mets says:

    come on dwright

  306. therealsince86 says:

    Think Wright is due?

  307. 911nafstem says:

    there’s our MVP right there

  308. fatburrell92 says:

    WTF WRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  309. 1985Mets says:

tough night????? how about tough series

  310. therealsince86 says:

Wow, Rudy Seanez. We just don’t deserve to win. Sorry, get them next time but if you are in so much of a funk that you go 3 up and 3 down against him then …..

  311. Gasface77 says:

At the beginning of the season, I never thought that I would actually want Delgado up in this situation.

  312. 911nafstem says:

    YEAHH!!!!!!

  313. MetsFan4Decades says:

    TAKE THAT, Choker Boy !

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!

  314. khmustache says:

    CARLOS DELGADO!!!!!!!

  315. hi5wright says:

    Delgado! You are my HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  316. Gasface77 says:

“Charlie Manuel rolled the dice and it came up craps!”

Does that line make sense? Either way, I like it.

    • khmustache says:

in craps if you roll the craps number then you’re done…you could have changed the line to “he gambled and he lost”

  317. el_giacomo says:

    DELGADOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  318. EV says:

Tie Game!!!! Where’s that LOSER PHILLIES FAN NOW!!!!!

  319. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    forget reyes forget wright

    DELGADO!!

    MVP
    MVP
    MVP

    HAHA

  320. 1985Mets says:

HA HA HA HA HA HA SILLIES FAANS

  321. 911nafstem says:

Wow, Charlie Manuel is as dumb as he looks

  322. anonymii says:

First time this game i cheered for anything.

  323. teufelshuffle86 says:

    DELGADO!!!!!!!!

  324. JessMets says:

I’m thinking of sending Carlos a fruit basket or something, with an apology note.

  325. therealsince86 says:

At least their park burns them there. That was a shallow pop fly at any real MLB stadium.

    • MikePhan says:

Shallow? That’s about 340 feet right next to the foul pole. That’s out in most parks, including Shea.

      • therealsince86 says:

You sure that was anywhere near that far? It was only a couple of rows deep and what is that to LF 198ft?

  326. Tha Prowler says:

    CARLITO’S WAY…..he did the ryan howard…Op[posite field.

  327. gomets6091 says:

I’m falling in love with Carlos Delgado all over again

  328. Flushing_is_Burning says:

sweet mother of god…. at least someone showed up for the game

  329. BlueCapsOnly says:

    There is your MVP!

  330. fatburrell92 says:

    DELGADO = GOD

  331. Eggman says:

    DelGato!!!!!!!!!!!

now does the bullpen allow the winning run in the 8th or 9th inning?

  332. the_other_matt says:

C’mon… take it easy. It’s 3-3 with an inning to go. Lay off the “where’s the Phillies fn now” stuff.

  333. chokeartistmets says:

EV……..YOU WANT TO BET WHO WINS THIS GAME?

    • EV says:

What was that dumb line you had we can’t score of your bullpen PLEASE

    • kbh218 says:

So you’re a Phillies fan who is spending his Wednesday evening taunting Mets fans on a Mets website?

Just get it over with and kill yourself already.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Still wanna bet tough guy? Where’d you go???

  334. 911nafstem says:

come on Mets, some how some way get another run here

  335. fatburrell92 says:

wow 30 homers for Delgado w/ still a month to go

  336. therealsince86 says:

    Now Beltran thinks he’s Castillo.

  337. Gasface77 says:

I want to win this game so bad….but damn, these past two games are what baseball is all about.

    • therealsince86 says:

Exactly, I hated the result of last nights game but sitting on the edge of my seat for 2 hours is a lot of fun SOMETIMES.

      • gomets6091 says:

I’ll be completely honest, I didn’t find last night fun at all. Last night’s game would have been fun in April, 2003, not so much in August, 2008.

  338. amazin92 says:

    mike carp who???

delgado!!! is all i have to say

  339. teufelshuffle86 says:

Second dribbler for a hit by Beltran. He’s sure knocking the cover off the ball!

  340. Flushing_is_Burning says:

come on churchy…. welcome back HR

  341. ExileInLA says:

Lidge now? Gutsy call, actually — but who do you go to after this?

  342. teufelshuffle86 says:

I truly think that if the Mets can grab the lead in this game they’ll win.

  343. 911nafstem says:

how about we steal some bases for once?

  344. Gasface77 says:

Wow…that was just a sick jump. Silly steal.

  345. 911nafstem says:

    pinch hit Tatis

  346. khmustache says:

    hit tatis for murphy here?

  347. Tha Prowler says:

TIME TO BREAK OUT MURPH !!!!!

  348. 1985Mets says:

NOW YOU KNOW WHY MURPHY SHOULD HAVE NOT START

  349. teufelshuffle86 says:

Lidge in for a non-save situation. This could get interesting.

  350. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    murphy please get a hit

  351. therealsince86 says:

Now you pinch hit for Murphy. I know you have the LH RH thing but Murphy does not do to well with FB it seems.

  352. 911nafstem says:

    HAHAHA Lidge SUCKS!!!

  353. khmustache says:

    DANNY BOY!!!!!

  354. Wright88 says:

    GO MURPH!

  355. kbh218 says:

    I love this kid!

  356. Gasface77 says:

Mr. Murphy…welcome back!!!! I love that subdued hand clap he did at second base. Good job rookie!!!

  357. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

i would have pitched against church before

    murph dog

  358. EV says:

    MURPHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  359. JessMets says:

    OMG YES

  360. MetsFan4Decades says:

AND THE METS TAKE THE LEAD !!

    Woo – Hoo !!

  361. Tha Prowler says:

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA murph !!!! way 2 break out kid. take that lidge.

  362. 911nafstem says:

    come on Schneider, surprise us

  363. 1985Mets says:

I”,LL take that back, sorry murphy

  364. gipper82475 says:

    WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

  365. teufelshuffle86 says:

    METS LEAD IT!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

  366. JessMets says:

Wait… are we coming from behind in the late innings?

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH MY METS???

  367. gomets6091 says:

I take back my earlier comment about Murphy…

by the way, anyone seen chokeartistmets this inning?

  368. 911nafstem says:

    YEAHHHH!!!!

  369. kbh218 says:

    Crap…Feliciano warming up.

  370. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    MURPH!!!!!!! against lidge….. even sweeter

  371. khmustache says:

    SCHNEIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

  372. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

thats just as cheap as ryan howards last 40 home runs

  373. MetsFan4Decades says:

    SCHNEIDER !!!

  374. 911nafstem says:

    LET’S GO METS!!!!!

  375. EV says:

    YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA LIDGE SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  376. hi5wright says:

    I’m dreaming, right?

  377. 1985Mets says:

    YES theres a god>>>>>>>>

  378. Tha Prowler says:

exactly he has run away w his tail between his legs..like all punks do.

  379. MetsFan4Decades says:

    6 outs guys, I’m begging you…..

  380. JessMets says:

If we manage to win this one, I’d feel 100% better about last night.

I wouldn’t have said that before the game started, but going from losing 3-2 to winning 6-3 in the eighth inning changes everything.

  381. 911nafstem says:

okay, 3 runs, 6 outs, you can do this Mets, even a college team’s bullpen would get lucky against pros once in awhile

  382. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

this is going to be another 6 out heart attack

  383. Dafatone80 says:

    I hate these announcers.

I pop the game on, and can tell that someone did something (was Schneider’s single) because they’re mumbling.

  384. Flushing_is_Burning says:

who is this team that’s facing the phillies now…. they look familiar

  385. bkfitz says:

Santana is off the hook (as he should be. He pitched well despite 2 cheap long balls). Let’s hope we shut the door this time.

  386. fatburrell92 says:

I still don’t feel safe with this bullpen

  387. Flushing_is_Burning says:

ok lets calm down for now…. 6 more outs …. anything is possible

  388. therealsince86 says:

    Why Feliciano, seriously WHY?

  389. Darth Manuel says:

    GREAT CESAR’S GHOST!!!!

  390. fatburrell92 says:

Where is that Philthy fan now? get owned

  391. teufelshuffle86 says:

Wow, those Philly fans disappeared quicker than an 8- ball at Doc Gooden’s house.

  392. BlueCapsOnly says:

    Joe Smith, be ready…

  393. 911nafstem says:

    5 OUTS people 5 OUTS!!!!

  394. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Endy !!

  395. hi5wright says:

    I love Endy

  396. Steviefan84 says:

    Endy is the best

  397. chokeartistmets says:

I am impressed. You shut me up.

  398. therealsince86 says:

Thank god Endy is out there.

  399. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    1 down, 5 to go

  400. danatural44 says:

can someone teach Beltran how to hit a curveball?1

5 more outs! i hate the damn phillies!

  401. therealsince86 says:

Is that the 1st time Feliciano has ever got out the first batter?

  402. BlueCapsOnly says:

Good thing Endy is in there

  403. 911nafstem says:

4 more outs and the Mets are out of this shthole stadium for good

  404. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Oh Wow – David !!

  405. EV says:

Wow, I’m impressed you said something without caps lock and that wasn’t insulting.

  406. khmustache says:

    WRIGHT’S GOLDEN GLOVE AND ARM!!!!

  407. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    4 more!!!

  408. teufelshuffle86 says:

Ayala to close again tonight? I still have faith in him, even after last night.

  409. coach says:

    What a play by Wright

  410. Tha Prowler says:

well said 911. i couldn’t have said it any better.
btw i think my time warner is laggin. all u fckers get ur comments up like 20 secs before me…nice play d. lookin like ol skool eric chavez on that throw.

  411. khmustache says:

3 more to go…cmon mets tack on

  412. 1985Mets says:

    3 more

  413. MetsFan4Decades says:

    I pitch, 3rd out? I’m in an alternate universe…..

  414. EV says:

3 Outs to go!!!! Whoever lives in NY and is watching on SNY, Gary Apples keeps saying for the trailer for Sportsnite, that some good closer is available that the Mets might get? Anyone know who he is talking about?

  415. toomanyuniforms says:

Three more outs. What we are seeing are the death throes of the Phillies’ late season dominance. Let’s tack on some runs. Twist the knife!!!

VERY encouraged by the heart this team has shown tonight. They are willing themselves to victory. . . . but there are three more outs.

  416. Flushing_is_Burning says:

what??? the pen not giving up runs?? I can get use to this

  417. therealsince86 says:

Please leave Smith in. Give him the chance to blow it before you take him out. It’s not like they have some super star lefty coming up. In fact they don’t have a LH coming up or on the bench.

  418. cousinrk says:

Do I here crickets at Little League park in Philly??? So quiet…hmmm

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

I hear crickets from the two Philly loud mouths that vanished once the Mets took the lead.

  419. 911nafstem says:

This win would somewhat reduce the sting of last night, although it should still be a freaking Mets sweep (as usual)

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Still 3 outs left. Easy there…

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

No, it doesn’t work that way. If the Mets won last night, maybe they let up a bit today. Maybe the Phillies play harder or differently. You never know.

  420. teufelshuffle86 says:

This guy in for the Phils making his MLB debut.

  421. khmustache says:

nice game reyes….bring him in guys

  422. therealsince86 says:

Someone help me, why would you take Smith out? I like Ayala but there is just no need. Over managing maybe.

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

If Jerry has annointed Ayala the closer, then it’s the right move. If he is still doing the bullpen by committe thing, then I would start Smith. But I think Jerry would prefer the defined role kind of thing.

  423. Dafatone80 says:

Taguchi shoulda had that. Was playing way too deep.

    Not that I mind.

  424. Tha Prowler says:

lets introduce this kid to tha big leagues…

  425. Jefferies 9 says:

Just witnessed the Slappy Shuffle ….

  426. therealsince86 says:

Can’t stand that play. Let Reyes steal, then bunt. Why can’t they hear me?

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

      I also hate that play.

Especially with the rookie pitcher, reyes could have gotten in his head.

    • therealsince86 says:

Ones like that have to be called from the bench. I just don’t understand. There is no way that in the past Reyes would not have stolen the base. Who was going to throw him out?

  427. gomets6091 says:

you know, I’m starting to think Slappy is too generous a term for Castillo, maybe we should start calling him Bunty McBunterson?

  428. reyesnwright says:

Why don’t they ever let reyes steal then bunt him over. You’d think with a guy making his first ML appearance and a bad throwing catcher, this would be the time.

    • therealsince86 says:

I can’t figure this out and have said it all season. You have a no strike out guy in Castillo. Have Reyes steal.

      • reyesnwright says:

I know..even if it gets to 2 strikes and he can’t bunt, you make one of his weak grounders to the right side worth a damn.

      • reyesnwright says:

Oh well, the way wright is hitting now, they wouldn’t have gotten him in anyway.

  429. danatural44 says:

not to be overly critical but why waste an out by sacrificing Reyes. i think my grandmother can get a steal off Coste.

  430. 911nafstem says:

wow, Wright has just checked out offensively this series

  431. 1985Mets says:

boy david… im so surpised wy did u swing at that

  432. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Man, Wright just looked like the April version of Delgado on that pitch

  433. teufelshuffle86 says:

Wright looks abysmal at the plate right now.

  434. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Figures…
Not messing with Carlos here. Show ‘em it’s a mistake, Beltran.

  435. hi5wright says:

C’mon Beltran, make up for the ‘insult’ ;)

  436. Tha Prowler says:

    p*ssies

  437. therealsince86 says:

How hot is a guy that you walk him to face a guy who is 3/4 in the game? Delgado hot.

  438. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Taguchi is due up 3rd in the inning. He CANNOT represent the tying run.

  439. the_other_matt says:

OK, bootom ninth. Time to put on my Depends.

  440. teufelshuffle86 says:

Alright, here we go. Let’s finish it off.

If the Mets win the Phils tenure in 1st place will have been for less than 24 hours.

  441. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Starting the chant.
3 more outs. 3 more outs.

  442. fatburrell92 says:

    Get it done Ayala!

  443. 911nafstem says:

It’s really sad that Rocky knocking out Ivan Drago was the last relevant Philly sports victory

  444. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Gary and Ron are jinxing it big time.

  445. kbh218 says:

Is our bullpen that bad that a guy we picked up after the trade deadline from the Nationals with a 5+ ERA is our interum closer? Ugh!

  446. Tha Prowler says:

lets not see that top of that lineup…thats one !!!!!

  447. khmustache says:

    2 more outs!!!

  448. el_giacomo says:

1 pitch one out nice start!

  449. MetsFan4Decades says:

    And…
Two more outs. Two more outs.

  450. 911nafstem says:

ok 2 outs, let’s not blow it this time Ayala

  451. teufelshuffle86 says:

Going to push 9-1 on my phone just in case.

  452. MetsFan4Decades says:

    And…
1 MORE OUT. 1 MORE OUT.

  453. khmustache says:

    1 more out!!!!

  454. el_giacomo says:

    1 more!

  455. 1985Mets says:

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOO THE SILLIES…..

  456. D-Day says:

    1 more baby!!!!

  457. almar1965 says:

With tomorrow a day off for the Mets, I am a Cubs fan for a day!

  458. DavidDog says:

AWESOME! ONE MORE! I didnt wanna say anything but that schmuck philly fan was bringin some seriously bad karma to his own team

  459. teufelshuffle86 says:

Where are all the Phillies fans? Is it bed time?

  460. almar1965 says:

Remember, they were down to 1 strike left last night…

  461. 911nafstem says:

please don’t walk this 70 pound asian man

  462. almar1965 says:

Come on, throw one more friggin’ strike!

  463. Tha Prowler says:

yesssss !!! way 2 fight back boys….luv ya …see yall on fri nite…ooops i’ll be workin. oh well. first place.

  464. D-Day says:

    come on ayala

  465. MetsFan4Decades says:

    YES !!
All is right with my world again. Back in first !!!!!!!!!

  466. cousinrk says:

How do you like our bullpen tonight boys?

  467. Nightlife says:

Is the GUTSY-IST team that ever had HEART about to be out GUTSED by the GUTSY-IST GUTTLESS LOSERS who ever lost?

  468. EV says:

    PUT IT IN THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  469. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

OK. Who is the hero? Delgado or Murphy?

  470. el_giacomo says:

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!! METS WIN!!!! BACK IN FIRST BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  471. almar1965 says:

There ya go. All groundballs to Reyes.

End it with the better SS on the field getting all 3 plays.

  472. playmaker3128 says:

Idk about anyone else, but i really like how ayala is throwing since we got him, despite the blown save last night. If we can get wagner back i like ayala as our 8th inning guy, which would stabalize the pen a bit.

  473. NYP-BOS-NYP says:

Wow. I’m going to give up on these games more often.

    Nice job, boys.

  474. khmustache says:

DONE AND DONE!!!!!!!!! SUCK IT CHOKEARTIST!!!!!!!! HOW’S SECOND PLACE????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  475. therealsince86 says:

    Yippie, Yippie.

  476. Steviefan84 says:

    Awesome job!

  477. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Brad Lidge called a few minutes ago. He wanted to know if anyone had seen hisn slider. I told him to check the right field corner.

  478. gomets6091 says:

GREAT win. Almost makes up for last night…almost

  479. EV says:

Damn I should of bet chokeartist lol.

  480. therealsince86 says:

Funny thing is that while we sleep and rest tomorrow the Phillies will be falling farther behind the Mets.

  481. D-Day says:

DONE DONE AND DONE!!! GREAT GAME! HUGE WIN! hey matt this is my definition of an entertaining ball game!!!!! LETS GO METS!!!!

  482. teufelshuffle86 says:

Mets finish 6-3 in CBP this year.

    Where are ya chokeartist?

“Phillies fans are frontrunners” – Jimmy Rollins

  483. bkfitz says:

Where are those gloating Eagles fans now?

  484. cousinrk says:

Welcome to the 2008 Mets, heartbreaking loss always followed but a gut check win. Amazing

  485. Nightlife says:

    GUTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs

    suck it Mike O’Malley.

  486. anrst says:

Stokes got the win and he deserves it. HOW GREAT is it to have a power arm out of the pen as a 6-7-8 inning weapon. STOKES FOR PRESIDENT!!!!

  487. Stems says:

Where are those AHoles Philly fans that were posting before??

  488. nyj0128 says:

So chokeartistmets, what do you have to say to us now?

    • LeftCoastMetsFan says:

Thats the difference between us and them. We are still here like how we would be win or lose. And they are only here when they win…And that, my friends, is what Jimmy Rollins was talking about.

  489. Dafatone80 says:

    Woooooooo!

  490. nyj0128 says:

We took care of those Phillies. Got first place. And can breath again. They took a game we should have won last night and they took a guy we should have won. One side of me feels bad that we can’t do it to them again tomorrow, but I’m happy to leave this series with no damage.

Some good has come out of this series. We can trust our bullpen a little more. 12 innings with only 3 runs. 3 scoreless innings from both Stokes and Heilman. Joe Smith got it done in the 8th two nights in a row. They’re coming along even on one of Johan’s not so good starts which would be good for most pitcher’s.

    • D-Day says:

well get another chance. something tells me that september 3 game set in shea is gonna be the most important one of the season. hopefully well have a sizeable lead by then and bury them for good!!! LETS GO METS!!!!

  491. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Man I hate ESPN, they gave no credit to the Mets for a great win tonight and all the credit to Ryan Howard and the Phillies for making Santana work and only go 6 innings. Um…the Mets did win the game didn’t they?

  492. teufelshuffle86 says:

Too bad the two closet Met fans couldn’t join us for this glorious victory. Good to see them all living up to the immortal words of Jimmy Rollins, “Phillies fans are frontrunners”.

Have a good day on Wall Street tomorrow. :D

    MUTTS WIN!!!!!

  493. Eggman says:

They’ve shown the ability to shrug off the devastating losses all year. Probably because they’ve had so many!

And the Yanks lost 11-3! The drunks in their wife-beaters are booing ARod mercilessly!

  494. danlx13 says:

the reason the mets won was not only because of the bats late in the game…but jerry played the bullpen perfeclty after johan came out
    Stokes in the 7th
feliciano vs the lefty and smith against the righty (which is the only way they should pitch)
and ayala to close it out

notice..no heilman, sanchez, shoeenwies..these really are the three relievers hurting the mets and none of them pitched tonight

Good game mets..lets go take 2 out of 3 or sweep the marlins while the phillies lose to the cubbies!!!!

    • therealsince86 says:

Please don’t give Feliciano any credit for anything other than tonight. He has been the worst guy in pen for a while.

      • nyj0128 says:

I’d have to disagree. He hasn’t screwed up in the 9th as often as Heilman. Ayala did it last night. Duaner has too. And Scott Schoenweis has too. Feliciano is just an average reliever. He’ll get it done sometimes. He’s definitely not the worse reliever they got though.

      • nyj0128 says:

Honestly, the way how Stokes has pitched lately may earn him the chance of getting into games in the 8th and 9th. Especially if Figueroa is to be our long man. I don’t know whether or not he’s making a spot start. I’m hoping Ollie’s going out on Friday.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Feliciano pitched well tonight but he has been equally as horrible late in the game. Did you not watch the game last night?

      • danlx13 says:

i did watch the game last night and i agree that he has been bad…but he is the kind of pitcher that needs to come in and get 1 maybe 2 guys out..Thats all. Jeryy has been pushing it with him trying to get a full inning

        • therealsince86 says:

No not really. Feliciano comes in to get LH out and then usually walks them and forces Manuel’s hand. He has been terrible all season.. The most overrated guy in our pen by far.

        • nyj0128 says:

I’d say Feliciano is okay, but I’ve never really heard praise for him. In fact, considering the seasons he’s had for the Mets in 06′ and 07′ I’d actually say he was underrated. It’s been a collective effort. No one in the Mets bullpen is perfect. Even the guy’s with the best numbers (Wagner and Schoenweis) can’t be trusted. Instead, we’re putting the ball into guy’s like Ayala and Heilman who’s ERA’s are in the 5’s and got like 8 losses. I’m not saying they shouldn’t because it can be anyones guess, but the whole Mets bullpen is below average. They’re coming together at the right time. Let’s just hope the lights don’t burn out.

    • curiojeff says:

Aw, c’mon… you’re going to bust Heilman after last night’s performance??

  495. adriel says:

One thing I think the Mets have to do is move Church into the two hole and get Castillo down possibly to the eighth spot. They both look out of sync since coming back, and I think Church would benefit more from hitting in front of Wright more than Castillo who really just tries to get on board by working a walk.

    • therealsince86 says:

Not a bad idea but I am not sure about
      Murphy, Schnieder Castillo Pitcher?

I kinda like having that extra RBI guy lower in the order.

      • adriel says:

I see your point but they could sub Murphy for Tatis everyone once in a while to get some pop down in the order. In this point of his career Murphy still doesnt seem to pose the same deep ball threat as Tatis, but they kid has talent and stays in great in at bats. He rarely looks over matched which is a good sign.

        • therealsince86 says:

Why not put Tatis in the 2 hole? His OBP is high as well.
Reyes, Tatis, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Church, Schnieder, Castillo?????

        • nyj0128 says:

The main thing is we got a lot of options. Remember that Nick Evans is always a possibility too. I don’t think Tatis should be batting 2nd though. He’s protected the other hitters well. He’s more of a guy who drives people in than sets the table. He could do well at setting the table, but I’m more confident in seeing him drive in runs because he’s done it so often this year. Murphy came through tonight too. He’s a better 2 type hitter the way he’s able to work counts.

        • therealsince86 says:

I agree about Murphy, if he is in the lineup he needs to hit 2nd. That is why I think that if they are going to do the platoon just let Murphy and Tatis hit 2nd and Castillo 8th.

        • nyj0128 says:

Yes. The idea of Luis hitting 7th isn’t bad either. The only problem is he just doesn’t have a lot of power. If he were hitting righty, it’d work better. Those are Damion’s starts though. Damion can bat second too. He’s not the fastest guy, but he’s been getting the job done.

Why not hit Beltran second? He hasn’t been driving in as many as he could. Delgado’s thriving in the clean up spot. We got Church back who can bat 5th. We can use Tatis 6th, Damion or Luis 7th and Schneider 8th. And on Murphy or Evans starts, you can bat them 2nd while moving Beltran down 5th and Church 6th.

I remember when Edgardo Alfonzo was moved into batting second from third he thrived. He also did great in the 2 hole in 99′. Wright’s got more speed than him. Fonzy was slow. So you never know about that possibility either.

    • nyj0128 says:

I couldn’t agree more. This is the role he was in the beginning of the year a little bit. He did well there. I’d start Easley more than Castillo though. Because the question you have to ask yourself is if Luis is to bat 8th, who’s to bat 7th? Ramon’s on the DL. You really want Brian there? I know he got a big hit tonight, but still. He can’t hit 7th without an expectation of no offense coming there. So the only time it’d work out for Church to bat 2nd is when Damion’s playing.

      • therealsince86 says:

I guess you could think outside the box a little.
Castillo’s OBP will always be high, product of never swinging I guess. Let him bat 7th. He actually has a high average with RISP and RISP 2/O. Then if he gets on you don’t really want to pitch around Schnieder to get to the pitcher and put 2 men on.
Reyes, Tatis/Murphy, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Church, Castillo, Schnieder, Pitcher.

    • nyj0128 says:

If we just play Damion more, the problem is solved. He’s got more pop. He’s been hot. He plays just as good defensively in my mind. Damion is a good 7 hitter in my mind. Moving Schneider or Cancel up in the order would hurt us. Plus what kind of pitches do you think Luis will get to see with the pitcher behind him? It’s something Brian’s already used to.

      • therealsince86 says:

That’s just not going to happen in September. I expect it to be even and maybe even lean towards Castillo. Easley had already started to sit the bench for A. Reyes and he was half the hitter that Castillo is. I am not sure how that’s even possible but look at the stats.

      • nyj0128 says:

What’s wrong with Damion’s numbers. He’s given us production. He just almost hit for the cycle. I’m not saying Luis is bad. I’m saying he’s rusty and it’s going to take him time to get it together. I think a strict platoon will preserve Damion’s health. With Castillo and Church back now it’s more than understandable why this would reduce Nick Evans and Argenis Reyes playing time, but I just don’t have as much confidence in Luis. I think he was part of the problem when Willie was here. He’s barely played under Manuel. He hasn’t been apart of our big win streaks. Maybe he’ll play well though. I think what you’re saying is more likely to happen, but I just don’t agree with it.

  496. Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

Red Sox slapped the Yanks 11-3. Haha.

    • danlx13 says:

the yanks need to go 22 and 5 to finish the season in order to have 92 wins (which i think it will take for the wild card)

      • D-Day says:

not gonna happen, no yanks in october, cant wait to rub that one in on some skanky fans i know!!

  497. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

great win tonight but i just have to say something

what a miserable weekend in tv .

marone calls to the bullpen, hammer time and daaaaaaaaan ugggla r back.

    someone help me…..

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Was just thinking the same thing.

“When you need a car, truck or van…
      Who you gonna call?
      Maroooney!”

    • nyj0128 says:

Yeah, I’m going to be torchered. I’ll probably leave the volume off. At least they don’t show the announcer’s. I may actually even buy a radio and listen to it while watching the game.

      Haaeeemerrrr… uhhhggg

  498. It was nice to see Murphy refuse to even crack a smile in his interview with Burkhart after the game. Do you think he means business?

  499. the_other_matt says:

I just re-watched the 7th–>9th innings on my DVR. Man…that was sweet.

  500. DavidDog says:

well it is a helluva pennant race!
    may the mets team win!

  501. BlueCapsOnly says:

I think Luis Castillo should take a Miami taxi when going out to dinner tomorrow night…

  502. 911nafstem says:

Late scoring, bullpen pitched well, I’ll take this over a blowout win anyday

  503. nyj0128 says:

It’s all in the Mets hands from here. After tomorrow, them and the Phils will have 28 left. You almost have to feel bad for what they’ll have to deal with. They’re best guy Hamels goes up against Dempster who’s 15-5. Than they throw the old Moyer against Zambrano on Sunday. I say the Cubs take 3 out of 4 or being generous to the Phillies 2. That means the Mets have to take at least 2 out of 3 against the Marlins this weekend. If they can do that, they’ll be 1 or 2 up.

So how many times have the first place title been overturned in the last month or so? lol Better yet, how many more times will it happen? I think that loss last night is propelling a hot streak. Maybe at the right time when the Phillies are about to get smacked up.

Castillo is A. Reyes except Reyes was younger and won’t have his aches and pains.
