I guess they would rather have a 'roid head that is a jerk to the media and fans. Stats are stats, if DW's are so meaningless than why hasn't anyone in the history of the Mets put up 100 RBI 4 years in a row?

And you would rather have who playing third base for the next decade?

You can say he racks up meaningless stats all you want, but if you understand baseball, you realize he is a cornerstone piece for a franchise. And an outstanding one at that.

Anti-DW folks should lay off the golden boy stuff---it is childish and silly. He has played great since the day he was called up, and also behaves in an exemplary and respectful fashion at all times. That is why the fans love him and everyone respects him.

David Wright is not been the guy I want up there in a clutch situation. He hasn't been the guy all season. You can pull out all the statisitics you want, but if you watch the games, you will know that his stats are hollow as they come. I know the fans love him because he is the wonderboy, best player they produced out of their system in a while, but he racks up a lot of meaningless stats.

All good stat points---but so are his excellent overall RBI, and runs scored, doubles, HR, walks, OBP, etc. numbers. Which I respectfully submit help to round out the picture of DW.

I love DW. And yes, he and Reyes are the 2 Best players to wear the Orange and blue in a long while, if not, in history. But Wright's game last night...ugh.

His 2008 numbers are weird too:
Scoring Posn, 2 out: .234
First and Second .267
Bases Loaded: .231
Close and Late: .302
Runners On: .269
Man on 3rd, <2 out	.268
None On/Out .327
Men On, 2 out .230
On 2nd .228
On 3rd .304
1st & 3rd .375
1st & 2nd .154

The numbers suggest the Phils bullpen is very good and light years better than ours. If we had a better pen, we'd be getting those guys out as well.

And btw, if not for Delgado and Wright last nights game would have been just another game in playing out the string, instead its a game for 1st place.

I'm not coming down on you as much as so many others who always seem to come down on Wright.

geez...take it easy people. Last night was a horrific loss. Sorry if I am angry with Wright for failing to produce in the clutch last night...1 game. Lighten up.

Here is our problem... Rollins one man on hits a homer an out later Howard up one man on hits a homer. Later in the game, Wright hits into DP, Delgado hits into DP.... Our hitters as good as they are. When needed the most they become average. They made the phills BP look like they are freaking CY Young
