another person who shouldnt be voting...mvp is NOT a team of multiplayer vote.

I'm sure this is the case for all of the phony players who arent allowed to play against their same-side pitchers since they have NO #s. what does evan have, 10 hits? come on chuckles.

defense awards are called gold gloves. You must be talking about that 'team mvp' voting that is for bad teams to discuss.

Beltran must go. Chavez is better defensively.

yeah 100 rbis and 290 avg is an ok year.
there arent a lot of players who are ok in the league - I thought ok meant .265 +/- with 15-20 hrs. DW is A-ok.

PLEASE ELABORATE

Personally, the board posters here, we flip-flop the stats matter or importance (or not). If they do matter, why is batting avg / % / whatever you guys are calling it now, not as important as HRs? Why do hits not matter- Reyes is the MVP for years now but still doesnt have one.

Delgado is not much better than Howard and his HR/RBI trump most guys by a large margin. Carlos Lee was next but he is now hurt. Chipper and Lance are WAY above anyone else in AVG and lance has the HR, RBIs of anyone else except Howard. And if you used the 'Reyes quit in September 2007' excuse for his non-mvp award, then be consistent and also use the 'Delgado quit in April and May and part of June 2008' before you justify his MVP. Reyes is the 2008 mvp, and Berkman hasnt quit though maybe his team has... but this isnt a team award. Chipper is hurt too much so he never counts, as well. Howard cant hit for much but hits it a ton.

Also how can we really determine if HRs and RBIs are clutch, or not? When didit start to really matter, with an individual award, whether a HR is clutch? Also isnt all RBIs clutch? So the above GASFACE person is saying that Wright has no clutch hits, but still has 100 RBIs..please elaborate on that nonsense. Does cohen have these stats to poop out for elias too?

This is a major sticking point every year, why not clear up the gray matter in everyones mind, MetsBlog. Maybe decent original posts to comment on. This is getting offtopic, but the topics have been krap lately.

I haven't looked through all the comments yet, so I apologize if this point has been made. But is it just me, or would the Mets be in a lot worse place if Delgado's fielding at first wasn't factored into the equation? Wright and Reyes tend to throw quickly and a lot of balls end up a little off-target. Even when Delgado seemes to have a dysfunctional relationship with the slider in the dirt earlier in the season, I thought it was worth the Mets picking him up for another go-round, if for no other reason than his ability to pick bad throws (especially on the high throw from Wright, where he should patent his turn-around slap-tag). Without diminishing the fielding of the rest of the infield, I have noticed that Delgado seems to very quietly keep it together.
