It also improves the Mets chances of getting to the WS if the Phillies are the wild card and not the Brewers.

Hankenstein? The charter member of the lucky sperm club? The guy is the biggest buffoon in professional sports history. He shouldn't be allowed out of the house. I don't know how Yankees fans can stand him.

"The Braves are so desperate for pitching that they signed Elmer Dessens off a Mexican League team."

Um...didn't the Mets just get Ricardo Rincon from a Mexican league team? Pot, meet kettle.

I guess $200 MM doesn't buy you what it used to. I mean the Sox only came in and spanked the Yanks without the services of JD Drew and Mike Lowell. Or the Rays are continuing their dream season without Crawford and Longoria.

What he should be bemoaning is the lack of quality depth players on the team. If there's one reason why I like the Mets chances in the NL is that they have a reasonbly deep bench after you figure out who's the starter for the day. Philly has Dobbs who's almost in a platoon situation with Feliz. I know Eric Bruntlett burned us the other night but if you replay that part of the game 10 times, he'd probably not get that hit again (I know statistically he'd get it done every 2.2 out of 10 times, but you know what I'm saying).

Regardless, it behooves the Mets to beat the Brewers since it would improve our chances of getting the Wild Card if the Phillies beat us out for first.

Don't know, thats just the ways its been since 1998. Probably because it makes for better press/ratings if two division rivals meet in a more important series.
