    Murph in the two-hole. Nice.

    LETS GO METS!!!

  2. uppertank says:

    step up!

  3. The Mets Will Kill Me says:

Obviously a huge game with a couple of aces goin head to head.. Very important series considering Philly is playing the gNats..

  4. MetsFan4Decades says:

Counting on you Johan to out pitch Sheets here.
    Let’s Go Mets !

  5. fatburrell92 says:

What the hell was the pint of calling up 10 people. All we needed were Niese, Parnell, Rincon, Reyes, and Argenis. Screw Molina, Martinez, and Muniz.

    • hyperion4 says:

Can’t argue with having a third catcher.

    • metsfan101589 says:

it would be really nice to see parnell pitch today. I haven’t seen him, but would love to see him get into a game. Maybe they will use him better than they did kunz.

Also, molina is here because he was already on the 40 man roster and a third catcher isn’t a bad thing when you have all these players now, just to spell schnieder and cancel in blowout games.

  6. khmustache says:

    LETS GO METS!!!!!

  7. youknowwhatimsayin says:

Got to love this lineup. Murphy or Church at the two spot is fine by me.

It also speaks volumes about Gimpy McSlappy that Sheets is right-handed, and Manuel has scrapped the Gimpy/Easley platoon, at least for today.

I’m betting Gimps #1 fan will rail about it sometime during the broadcast.

    • metsftw says:

easley’s slugging percentage is barely higher than castillo’s, and he has a lower OPS+.

but if you want to think of damion easley as our chase utley, go ahead. i’ll be over here laughing at you.

    • Tina says:

I’ve not been a big Castillo fan, but he looks a lot better, and he came through in a HUGE spot the other night — he doesn’t get that hit, we lose. I love Easley, but I don’t think his production is such that he should get appearances that Castillo should have. If Castillo really has been playing poorly due mostly to injury, we are only well-served to let him get his legs under him (so to speak) before the playoffs.

    • RodKanehl says:

You sur eare totally ignorant and one lousy Met fan. You’re own guy is sore, his manager saw him limping so sat him, and you relish in it. Go get run over by a car so we can relish in your pain.

  8. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

is it me or does it seem like everytime we play a tough series the phillies are playing the nats.

  9. khmustache says:

what exactly is in the pink backpack and why do they need to lug it back to the bullpen everyday? and also is it just me or does jose reyes look like a lunatic in his picture?

    • RodKanehl says:

The pink bag is like a rookiw hazing for the most junior guy in the pen. He has to carry it back and forth every day. Its filled with candy and other junk.

  10. pedro4545 says:

    First game of September….let’s go.

  11. pedro4545 says:

    nicee jose

  12. khmustache says:

nice hustle…is jose okay? please be okay jose

  13. MetsFan4Decades says:

Nice way to start the game, Jose.

Those headfirst slides are so dangerous.

  14. Nightlife says:

Man, PLEASE don’t be hurt, Jose.

  15. teufelshuffle86 says:

    GET UP!!

  16. khmustache says:

    holy jeez that was turrible

  17. Dafatone80 says:

Bah. Got a lefty up. No need to bunt.

In fact, let’s just modify that a little. No need to bunt, unless you’re a pitcher. Or Castillo.

  18. teufelshuffle86 says:

    guess he’s okay.

  19. Nightlife says:

Ugh, bunting in that situation is dumb.

  20. Dafatone80 says:

    Damn

  21. MetsFan4Decades says:

Crap. Waste of a double on those last two plays.

  22. pedro4545 says:

    sh!t.

  23. khmustache says:

these aren’t the marlins or the braves guys…this team can actually play baseball…hopefully that’s the last of the stupid plays there

  24. Nightlife says:

    Just giving away outs.

  25. SantanaCYYOung says:

    just giving away outs

  26. almar1965 says:

Great way to start a big series, with two bone-headed plays.

  27. pedro4545 says:

This actually may be a good thing…when we don’t score runs in the first it seems like theres a better chance of us actually scoring some runs later in the game

  28. therealsince86 says:

I don’t like the call but neither happen if Murphy can get the bunt down.

  29. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

runs are at a premium in this game, that is just unacceptable.

  30. khmustache says:

new worst sny commercial ever…bob’s furniture

  31. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Leadoff double all for what?

  32. pedro4545 says:

I’m feeling a big game for Church today

  33. khmustache says:

quite possibly the ugliest play of the year…wow

  34. SantanaCYYOung says:

nice way to start the game murph

  35. therealsince86 says:

    Murphy, LOL.

  36. Dafatone80 says:

I can’t really be pissed at Murphy. I mean, he played that alright, slowed down to play the carom, and just slipped.

I will be pissed at him for that bunt, though.

  37. almar1965 says:

How important is it to win today’s game?

In the Met’s “wisdom” they have Niese throwing his first major League start tomorrow against one of the best offenses in the NL against lefties in the heat of a late-season pennant race.

  38. pedro4545 says:

that was a great piece of hitting by braun…good pitch by johan

  39. almar1965 says:

Johan HAS to,…I repeat, HAS TO, keep the Brewers to 1 run in this inning.

  40. therealsince86 says:

    Come on Johan, step up.

  41. SantanaCYYOung says:

johan has to reincorporate the slider into his repertoire

  42. almar1965 says:

Come on Johan. Geez. Get it together!

I just don’t see the Mets getting runs off of Sheets, and Johan may have to throw 115+ pitches today.

  43. markthemets says:

thats the diffence between us and them they capitalize and we…..get caught stealing blah!!

    • almar1965 says:

Not true. The Mets have capitalized on other teams mistakes many times. You do realize that the Mets have the most 1st inning runs of any team in baseball and are in first.

  44. MetsFan4Decades says:

Nice K. wow – Fielder is one big dude.

    • khmustache says:

the crazy thing is he’s actually smaller this year…the dude became a vegetarian over the offseason

      • MetsFan4Decades says:

lol – yeah, I heard some joke about that in the first half of the season. Fans wanted him to go back to eating hamburgers b/c his HR production is down.

  45. almar1965 says:

This could be a preview of the NLDS…or maybe not if the Mets bullpen keeps coughing up leads.

  46. khmustache says:

    huge k…nice

  47. pedro4545 says:

    Big K

  48. almar1965 says:

    Good Job Johan!

Now let’s stop with the AA antics on the field and plate that they showed in the first inning.

  49. pedro4545 says:

OK now lets get that run back

  50. therealsince86 says:

I can’t believe I am saying this but I think today with Santana starting I would have rather have had Endy in LF and batting 2nd. Chances are we are up 1-0 instead of down.

  51. khmustache says:

    1 run…not insurmountable…cmon offense

  52. khmustache says:

    nice hit

  53. khmustache says:

wow…cohen is hammering ned yost over the no hitter issue

  54. SantanaCYYOung says:

see what happens when he starts throwing the slider

  55. DavidDog says:

sun and wind seem to be a factor out there as well, might be a loong day for murphy.. he totally embara ssed himself in the first, although it looked like he made a decent throw to wright.. hopefully his arm is better than his glove/range

  56. MetsFan4Decades says:

Struck out the side there. Nice, Johan.
    Time for some runs, guys.

  57. Darth Manuel says:

I can’t think of a better test. If we can play with the Brewers I think we have as good as a shot as anyone to make it to the WS..

  58. DavidDog says:

the numbers heading into this series are ominous: santana not good at miller park (last time lost to TOMO OHKA!!), and Brewers are the best team in MLB against lefty starters (of which, of course, we’ll be throwing 3, including a rookie in his first ml start)

  59. Dafatone80 says:

    I like Johan.

But I was skeptical about all that “he’s a good athlete, he wants to hit” stuff. And it looks like he can’t really hit.

Oh well. Not exactly a big deal.

  60. khmustache says:

    5 pitches…cmon guys

  61. SantanaCYYOung says:

how easy was that inning? 5 pitches?

i think if we go into the phillies series this weekend only down 1 then it won’t all be bad

  62. el_giacomo says:

Terrible inning by our offense. 5 pitches. Makin’ it easy on Sheets there…

  63. khmustache says:

    nice k…5 so far

  64. DavidDog says:

and as the brewers announcers mentioned, i dont understand easley today. mind well, i’ve been among the castillo skeptics, but he’s a switch hitter and is one of the only players on our roster to have decent numbers vs. sheets (together with Chavez, who as noted above, might have been a good fit today, both at the plate and in the field). for a guy who is so by-the-book, manuel-manual sure made some strange choices today…

  65. fatburrell92 says:

    Freakin hate Ryan Braun

  66. VegasMet says:

    What’s happened to ” Work-The-Count” Murphy?…2 pitches…2 outs…c’mon guys!

    • DavidDog says:

pitchers are getting his number: murphy has been seeing a lot of early strikes, so he’s had to change his approach- the results? well…

    • therealsince86 says:

Prob. part of Murphy’s adjustment. He was so patient that pitchers were starting to throw get it in strikes early in the count. Now he has to come up aggressive.

  67. khmustache says:

tough play…no choice really, if he doesn’t chage it the runner’s safe, if he charges he risks the bad hop

  68. pedro4545 says:

Ryan Braun is definitely a future MVP if not this year.

  69. VegasMet says:

OK, 3-4-5 hitters comin’ up. Let’s get some offense goin’ !

  70. fatburrell92 says:

at least make Sheets work he’s on pace to go 9 if we don’t make it harder.

  71. SantanaCYYOung says:

    where is this offense?

  72. DavidDog says:

damn, sheets is toying with this lineup… remember guys: you DIDN’T score in the first today!!!

  73. khmustache says:

    damn

  74. VegasMet says:

sigh…maybe this will be one of those bottom-of-the-order does damage games…

  75. VegasMet says:

Too bad we didn’t get a run in in the 1st, and I’m not mad at Jose (maybe a little at Daniel). His aggressive play has served us well. Kendall makes a perfect throw and you just have to tip the proverbial cap…

    • kd bart says:

Don’t blame Reyes. Was trying to be aggressive and set up an easy early run. Murphy’s pop up bunt was what ruin the inning. No need to bunt there. You can pull a groundball and accomplish the same thing. Poor decision by Murphy, don’t believe it was called by the bench, and it forced Reyes to try and still third.

      • fatburrell92 says:

Where the hell is Tatis when you need him?

        • therealsince86 says:

Actually Endy would have been best today. I can’t stand him but with Santana pitching and Sheets on the mound it would have been better to have Endy 2nd behind Reyes. Right now the score very well could have been 1-0 Mets.

  76. kd bart says:

Hate to say this but this game has all the earmarks of a 3-0 type loss. If you don’t get to a pitcher like Sheets early, he settles in and it gets to be a game of catch with him. Seaver was the same way.

    • VegasMet says:

Nah, We’ll scratch a couple out before it’s over. The key is for Johan and (shudder) the pen to hold the damage to just the 1 run…

    • therealsince86 says:

I hope you are Sheet’s agent. He throws 4 shutout innings against the Mets and he is now Tom Seaver, LOL.
All good pitchers are that way, including your very own Santana.

      • kd bart says:

I’m not saying he’s Tom Seaver. I’m saying that Seaver was that type of pitcher. You had to get to Seaver early before he settled in a groove because once he did, it just became a game of catch to him.

        • therealsince86 says:

So was Tom Glavine. Point is why Seaver? Almost every good pitcher is that way. Ask a guy like Brandon Webb.

        • kd bart says:

First name that came to mind. If I’d said someone like Mike Caldwell would’ve had made you happier?

        • therealsince86 says:

Gotta expect Mets fans to be picky when it comes to our best pitcher of all time.

      • VegasMet says:

LOL, I was thinking along the same lines , but mine went, ” Tom Seaver was a freind of mine, and you, Mr Sheets, are no Tom Seaver!”…:)

  77. metsfan42793 says:

The Brewers can’t score another run if the Mets want to win it. So far it looks as if the Mets can’t get anything on Sheets. Sheets is looking dominant so far so 1 run maybe the only run in this game.

  78. khmustache says:

    great lookin k

  79. gdfther412 says:

Just turned on the game…Santana looks amazing. Is sheets pitching well or is this our normal nap time?

  80. DavidDog says:

time for church to do something

  81. fatburrell92 says:

come on at least make sheets throw more than 3 pitches?

  82. fatburrell92 says:

Utley is such a plate crowder, he gets hit everyday and he never moves, the umps should stop giving him a free base everytime.

  83. metsfan42793 says:

Not only are the Mets not doing anything they are not working the count. Sheets only has 60 pitches through 5 innings.

  84. khmustache says:

51 pitches through 5? sheets can go 19 today

  85. hi5wright says:

Is anyone getting just a LITTLE bit bored?

  86. almar1965 says:

Do the Mets even have a game plan? Or is their game plan to give Sheets help with his pitch count?

  87. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    wow unbelievable

  88. DavidDog says:

wow sheets must be something right, but the mets bats sure look awful. all he’s doing is throw strikes, nothing too impressive, doesn’t even have his velocity, and the mets cant get a goddamn hit.

  89. metsfan42793 says:

    YES BEN SHEETS IS GONE

  90. MetsFan4Decades says:

    wow – Sheets out.

  91. Ryn05 says:

    Injured!

    Take that.

  92. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

theyre making this really tough on sheets.

  93. khmustache says:

sheets is the softest player in mlb history

  94. almar1965 says:

A huge break for the Mets. Sheets is out of the game, probably due to a health issue.

    They HAVE to take advantage.

  95. fatburrell92 says:

WTF? They’re taking out Sheets. Ned Yost is a freakin retard. lol

    • VegasMet says:

Oh C’mon, Yost couldn’t possibly have decided to pull Sheets after 54 pitches. It’s got to be an injury situation. Never root for injury, but let’s hope the Mets can take advantage…

      • VegasMet says:

Wait! Let me amend that “never root for injury” comment. I hope Pat Burrell’s d**k falls off! And the rest of the Phils, too.

  96. DavidDog says:

    SWEEET! sheets is comin out!!!

  97. Dafatone80 says:

    Awesome.

  98. therealsince86 says:

Ah, who mentioned the game plan? Maybe it was to hit his fastball and he did not throw one.

    • almar1965 says:

But after the first time thru the lineup, did it not become apparent to the team that they should adjust their approach and begin to work the count better?

      • therealsince86 says:

I think it just killed their timing to see Sheets up there throwing all off speed pitches for strikes.

  99. metsfan42793 says:

Maybe Sheets has a 55 pitch count

  100. BlueCapsOnly says:

    Yesssssss!, sheets is out!

  101. hi5wright says:

    Sheets out!

  102. gdfther412 says:

good to see sheets out, lets get alittle something going.

  103. gdfther412 says:

he retired 10 in a row,ive seen that alot against the mets this year

  104. metsfan42793 says:

Not the Mets have absolutely no excuse to lose this ball game because Sheets is no longer in the game.

  105. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

so sheets is still sitting in the dugout? I would think he’d be with the trainer.

  106. metsfan42793 says:

This umpire has the smallest strikezone I’ve ever seen

  107. gdfther412 says:

santana has been so great for us,he deserves better then this.

    • therealsince86 says:

Better than what? A first place team? Who cares about wins? He is not competing for a contract or money he is taken care of.

  108. fatburrell92 says:

come on santana give us at least 2 more scoreless innings.

  109. VegasMet says:

walk Braun. Go after lefty Fielder…

  110. therealsince86 says:

I don’t care what anyone says, Johan is worth every player traded and every penny paid.

  111. Nightlife says:

Santana has been excellent today. I hope we can squeeze 2 more out of him.

Now time to get to Sheets.

  112. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

    blastings thrilledge 2-rbi single

  113. MetsFan4Decades says:

If you’re stealing here Jose, you need to absolutely make it.

  114. therealsince86 says:

    Steal early please.

  115. therealsince86 says:

Uh oh, Daniel Murphy will be mad. They just called him David.

  116. therealsince86 says:

Why Jerry, has Reyes not stolen 2nd yet?

  117. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Yes, Daniel !

  118. Dafatone80 says:

I’d make a comment about how you have to run on Kendall. But apparently Kendall’s throwing well this year.

Or am I just wrong about Kendall? Let me go look this up.

Yeah, Kendall came up with a great arm. Deteriorated. Awful years in 06 and 07.

Now he’s throwing real well again.

    Go Murphy!

  119. BlueCapsOnly says:

ok, David, fly ball, fly ball! please!

  120. therealsince86 says:

    I’ll take a sacfly here.

  121. bringbackolerud5 says:

    Come on David……..please!!!!!!!!!!!

  122. bringbackolerud5 says:

    Big shock by MR. UNCLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!

  123. das320 says:

    Mr. Clutch stikes (out) again

  124. VegasMet says:

    C’mon David…at least a sac fly

  125. therealsince86 says:

    Unbelievable.

  126. Dafatone80 says:

Given Wright’s general inability to do much this season, it’s impressive that he should be a leading MVP candidate.

  127. fatburrell92 says:

Deja Vu all over again. 1st and 3rd 1 out David Wright up and a strikeout.

    • chicagometfan says:

I knew he would K after I saw his first swing and then the next two swings were even worse

  128. bringbackolerud5 says:

Does he ever get the run home with less than 2 out? My God. Everyone jumps on AROD in clutch spots, Wright is just as bad.

  129. metsfan42793 says:

those were three sliders that didn’t slide. davis is a piece of s**t.

  130. anonymii says:

David is using the bat Delgado used earlier this season.

  131. Nightlife says:

Ugh, every single pitch to David was a ball.

  132. kd bart says:

Forget about being considered for the MVP. Throw him 3 sliders away and he’ll pull off the ball everytime.

  133. fatburrell92 says:

Reyes is 10 times the MVP Wright is. Wright has over 100 strikeouts.

  134. Dafatone80 says:

I think it’s really more that offense is down a lot this season.

Wright hasn’t done much and is 2nd in the NL in rbis, and 5th in runs.

Yeah, those aren’t the best measures of performance, but they’re something.

    • almar1965 says:

But they seem, at least from a perception POV, to be “soft” compared to other seasons he has had. This is not the first time this season he has come off like that over a stretch.

    • kd bart says:

The man is hitting 50 points below his season’s average with men in scoring position. He looks like he swings for the fences all the time in those situations.

  135. mdemaio says:

That was as bad an at bat by Wright as I’ve seen him take…bad approach, terrible swings…

  136. almar1965 says:

Friggin’ Wright! Why has he abandoned his opposite field approach at the plate? Like Keith and Gary said, he looks like he is trying to hit a HR every time.

His stats, as nice as they seems, mask how soft a year he has been.

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

baseball stats are like a girl in a bikini, they show you alot but they dont show you everything

    • therealsince86 says:

You know if he keeps having about 15 more of these soft seasons he would be an alltime great.

      • almar1965 says:

Do you really want to go there?

Wanna know what we mean by “soft?”

This year his “clutch” numbers are bad by his standards:

        Scoring Position: .239
        Scoring Position w/2 outs: .227
Man on 3rd with less than 2 outs: .273
Men on and 2 outs: .231
        Second and third: .167
        Bases loaded: .214

Yeah, I want 15 more seasons of this.

      • Two-By-Four says:

First he has to have 15 more of these types of seasons, which, of course, he may very well have. BTW you must love A-Rod.

  137. metsfan42793 says:

those were 3 sliders that didn’t slide. those were 7 blls he threw and he swung at 3 of them. david sucks

  138. X-Man says:

The most “Un-Clutch” 103 RBIs I have ever seen in a Baseball season.

  139. SantanaCYYOung says:

not surprised at all by that at bat by wright, he is horrible in those situatuions, especially lately

    • almar1965 says:

Because he has it in his head to hit for a HR instead of just making solid contact.

Maybe he needs to talk to Murphy and pick up a few tips. LOL!

  140. stickguy says:

yup. why would anyone ever throw Wright a FB? He looked like some 17 YO kid out of A ball in that AB. swung at all balls and looked terrible doing it.

this could have been the one chance in the game to get the lead, since no guarantee there will be another one.

  141. skylog says:

that was horrid. just hit a fly ball. or at least don’t swing at three pitches that were not even close to strikes

  142. metsfan42793 says:

    im speechless

  143. bringbackolerud5 says:

Please. Every fan knows Wright’s numbers are EMPTY. He has not had a good year. The 13 year old girls are the only ones who think he has had a clutch season.

  144. Dafatone80 says:

    Lame.

In Wright’s “defense”, I will say that people underrate early runs, as far as importance goes.

  145. SantanaCYYOung says:

    that’s the game right there

remember when johan pitched against smoltz in april and they took out smoltz after 5 innings…this is the repeat of that game ( i think the mets lost 1-0, or 2-1)

    • das320 says:

they lost 3 – 1. (Heilman gave up 2 more runs to make it a 3-0 deficit before the Mets scored 1 in the top of the 9th)

  146. almar1965 says:

This might be the one opportunity they have the rest of the game.

They had better hope they catch a break.

    • therealsince86 says:

They already did, they get more time against the pen. Give it time, there is still plenty of game left.

      • khmustache says:

time? unheard of with the debbie downers…every player has to deliver everytime or they get mad

        • almar1965 says:

No, but when you softest RBI producer can’t get the tying run in from third with less than 2 outs because he wants to make the highlight reel by hitting a 3-run bomb and was made to look foolish on three straight sliders, well it grates on the average Mets fans nerves.

        • metsftw says:

          you’re an idiot. just fyi.

  147. VegasMet says:

    Very disappointing inning…

  148. bringbackolerud5 says:

For the record, I can’t stand Jeter, but I was flipping back and forth and I turn the Yanks on and Jeter is up with bases loaded and 2 out. You just know he is getting a hit. You just knew Wright was going to strike out.

  149. X-Man says:

You can almost see it on Wright’s face that he expected to strike-out in that situation. Went up to the plate with no confidence.

  150. Darth Manuel says:

If Howard Johnson cannot see that David is pulling off and doesn’t start suggesting he should look to go opposite field …. He could be the worst hitting coach in baseball.. This is obvious to my grandmother … who can’t understand why he stopped going the other way..

This has been going on for two weeks …. WAKE UP HOJO

  151. skylog says:

what else do they want? sheets out. first and third with one out. that run has to score. let’s just hope johan holds them one or two more. fate will probably set in and the brewers will put something on the board here.

  152. fatburrell92 says:

We should move Wright further down in the order to put less pressure on him. Maybe put Beltran 3rd and see how it plays out, but Wright never comes through in these big spots.

  153. kd bart says:

Even Wright has stated that he has been awful all season in those type of situations. If he’d had a decent season in those type of situations, he’d have over 120 rbis. I believe he has more of those type of at bats than anyone else in the league.

  154. metfanLI says:

Now that conversation (regarding the sausage race) was hilarious. Gary is too much….

  155. bringbackolerud5 says:

The bottom line is Wright is very good player. He is not great and he is not clutch. He will have to prove me otherwise.

    • therealsince86 says:

I am sure he goes into every game thinking about that chance to prove to you that he is great and clutch.

    • almar1965 says:

Wright is clutch. Based on his historical stats. But he is having a bad clutch season.

He can easily make up for it by having a great September in clutch situations.

They need him to in order to take this division.

  156. skylog says:

    yep. here it comes

  157. bringbackolerud5 says:

therealsince1986 is nothing more than a blind fan. Everyone is great. The team is awesome. Just shut your mouth.

    • khmustache says:

as opposed to the guy who only shows up when the mets are losing to bash his supposed favorite team…your schtick is old dude

    • Nightlife says:

Or maybe he isn’t any incessant whiner like you every time something doesn’t go the Mets way?

    • therealsince86 says:

Nope, I can see very well. I have insulted quite a few players over my time. I don’t see all the reason to talk about how Wright sucks however. He has not had a good season with RISP. The entire team has struggled there. My point is the guy is 2nd in the NL in RBI and is in the top 10 in lot of other catagories. He may be in line for another gold glove, yet the guy is a bumb?

      • almar1965 says:

Calling Wright a bum is off-base. But lets also not ignore the fact that if you look at his numbers closely, he is having an awful year in clutch situations. And those situations directly influence the Mets chances of success.

        • therealsince86 says:

No doubt, however the over all numbers still show he is producing runs sometime.

        • almar1965 says:

Yes he is. Not saying he is hitting .000 with RISP, but his numbers show that this year he has had minimal impact.

I would rather have 90 RBIs that are of maximum impact than 120 RBIs of minimal overall impact.

      • Two-By-Four says:

But isn’t that the way most people here and those that root for the team in the Bronx look at A-Rod?

    • Nails says:

Do you guys realize Wright hit about .310 with RISP last year? Do you realize that Reyes was the team’s best in 06 and then the worst in 07?

Sometimes stats can be manipulated. All of you Beane-heads who love all of these stats should also know that there is no such thing as “clutch” hitting over a career.

My guess is that if Wright finishes his career with a .300 avg, that his avg with RISP will be .300.

  158. fatburrell92 says:

    New Mets batting order

    1. Reyes
    2. Murphy/ Castillo/Evans
    3. Beltran
    4. Delgado
    5. Wright
    6. Tatis/ Church
    7. Easley
    8. Schnieder/ other catcher
    9. pitcher

This 3,4,5 combination they won with in 06′ maybe we should go back to it.

  159. Ryn05 says:

It’s amazing how quickly some of you have forgotten how he carried our offense in the 2nd half last year.

  160. kd bart says:

If you recall, he was like this in the 2006 post season. Wright has the tendency in tight situations to forget everything that has made him a good hitter. He forgets about driving the ball up the middle or the other way and starts to try to pull everything and flies way open. He doesn’t wait back.

  161. khmustache says:

    damn damn

  162. MetsFan4Decades says:

Damn. Really lost his concentration there.

  163. Dafatone80 says:

Looked away for a second, was that a wild pitch?

    • NYP-BOS-NYP says:

      Balk.

Hopefully, Johan will now be so pissed at himself that he’s going to bear down and strike out the next 6 or so batters.

  164. skylog says:

    unreal.

  165. bringbackolerud5 says:

    September collapse 2008 has begun……….

    1. Murphy’s dumb bunt in the 1st

    2. Reyes’ stupid steal attempt

    3. Wright’s latest UN-CLUTCH moment

    4. Santana balk

  166. skylog says:

that is just a huge huge mistake that has a good chance of possibly costing them this game.

  167. bringbackolerud5 says:

Every one of you ENJOY ANOTHER SEASON OF NO PLAYOFFS.

    LICK MY BALLZ.

  168. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

if you blame santana for this lost, because of a balk, how about looking at the met offense

  169. Stems says:

    gotta be kidding me…

Santana has got to know better than that seriously.

i will bet he has never done that in his career… but hey hes wearing a Mets jersey

  170. Nightlife says:

    Beltran!

  171. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

im saying it right now, we dont score after this leadoff double the game is over

  172. ImissPiazza says:

Johan is pitching a gem. he’s made one mistake. Murphy should have caught that ball in the first anyway. But all is moot, if the mets can’t score a run or two.

  173. chokeartistmets says:

    LETS GO PHILS!!!!!!!!!!

  174. kd bart says:

As a means to compare Wright 2007 vs Wright 2008 with Runners in Scoring Position.

    2007 158ABs .310 7HRs 76RBIs 36BBs 31Ks

    2008 to date 165ABs .242 4HRs 68RBIs 24BBs 28Ks

    If he were h

  175. chokeartistmets says:

way to get the runner over church………you concussion getting loser!!!

  176. hi5wright says:

I’m having no trouble predicting how this inning is going…

  177. chokeartistmets says:

THE PHILS WILL BE IN 1ST BY FRIDAY NIGHT……….AND YOU WILL FOLD AS YOU DID LAST YEAR!!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  178. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

i have 0 confidence in evans here, hopefully i am proven wrong

  179. therealsince86 says:

Looks like “bringbackolerud5″ went into a phonebooth and came back as Supertroll ChokeartistMets.

  180. chokeartistmets says:

DAVID WRIGHT COULD NOT HOLD UTLEY’S JOCK STRAP………….

HOWARD MAY HIT FOR LOW AVERAGE BUT HE IS CLUTCH, SOMETHING WRIGHT IS NOT………

    SUCK IT LOSERS………………………..

    • therealsince86 says:

Mostly because Utley does not have a jock strap. Myers told him not to wear one. He misses his wife too much.

    • BlueCapsOnly says:

its only a matter of time before Utley gets one in the face, you’re lucky bug Z didn’t pitch yesterday because he probably would have done it.

    • mookie says:

Hey aren’t you the guy who was making fun of us during the phily game and then ran away like gutless coward as soon as things turned bad for your team? Man your a loser get the heck out of this board.

  181. Nightlife says:

I wish the trolls would get a little more creative at this point.

  182. chokeartistmets says:

THE METS HAVE POTENTINAL POST-SEASON COMMERCIALS…………..JUST LIKE LAST YEAR………THAT REALLY WORKED………

OMAR “YOU KNOW WHAT I SAYIN” MINAYA MUST BE PROUD OF THIS BUNCH…………….

HE IS PROBABLY ON A FLIGHT TO THE DOMINICAN OR SOMETHING

    • kd bart says:

Way to make the most of a gift wrapped division title last season. I think you led in the post season for one more inning than the Mets.

  183. Nightlife says:

    Whoa, Marlon.

Didn’t know he was still on the team.

  184. chokeartistmets says:

WE DUMPED MARLON LIKE 6 YEARS AGO………….LOL

    LETS GO PHILS

  185. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

we need a walk and a huge clutch hit by nando

  186. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Welcome back, Marlon !

  187. chokeartistmets says:

3 RUN HOMER HOWARD IN TOP OF 4TH……….

    3-2 PHILS!!!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  188. chokeartistmets says:

    FERNANDO TATIS…..HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHH

YOU WOULD HAVE A SHOT HERE IF IT WAS 1999!!!

    LOSERS

  189. chokeartistmets says:

BREAKING NEWS = METS FAN EAT POOP

  190. chokeartistmets says:

KENDRICK SETTLING IN…………….PHILS UP 3-2…….YOU’RE SCREWED

  191. Nightlife says:

    Come on chokeartistmets.

You don’t sound as inspired today, you’re recycling too many old lines.

    • NYP-BOS-NYP says:

Well, he did say we ate poop. That was a pretty creative use of a word he probably just learned during his potty training.

  192. MetsFan4Decades says:

Oh, here we go. Bases loaded.

  193. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

please don’t feed the troll, people.

  194. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

reyes, o please reyes, anything but a little pop up

he gets a hit here, more clutch than wright for the team mvp

  195. chokeartistmets says:

METS ALWAYS GET A HIT WITH THE BASES LOADED…………….LOL

JOSE “NO HEART” REYES WILL DO HIS USUAL CRAP…..HE AIN’T NO J ROLL

  196. BlueCapsOnly says:

don’t worry after jose rips a bases clearing triple philly choke on c-ck guy will be gone

  197. chokeartistmets says:

AT LEAST WRIGHT IS NOT UP…………………..LOL

NO WONDER OMAR DOES NOT LIKE WHITE PLAYERS….LOOK AT WRIGHT….HE LICKS BALLZ

  198. Nightlife says:

    That was a strike?

  199. chokeartistmets says:

WHAT AN UNCLUTCH TEAM………..YOU GUYS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

    HOWARD – 2006 MVP
    ROLLINS – 2007 MVP

    WE OWN YOU

  200. MetsFan4Decades says:

    THAT”S ONE !

  201. Nightlife says:

    Alright!

    I’ll take it.

  202. almar1965 says:

Reyes needs to stop stepping into the bucket at the plate against lefties. Stay on his back leg and drive the ball.

  203. el_giacomo says:

    wild pitch NICE!

  204. Dafatone80 says:

Well, this is the best time for my mlb.tv to fall apart. Oh well.

  205. chokeartistmets says:

YOU CAN ONLY SCORE WHEN ANOTHER TEAM HANDS YOU A RUN

  206. Nightlife says:

    Hahaha Marlon.

  207. chokeartistmets says:

    YOU UNCLUTCH PIECES OF GARBAGE…………….

YOU THINK ROLLINS GETS THAT HIT IN 2007 WHEN HE NEEDED IT………….DAMN RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YOU ARE SO DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  208. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

made up for the balk, so basically we are back to 1-0

  209. el_giacomo says:

well…at least we got one run in…

  210. BlueCapsOnly says:

    Mota next, haha

  211. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

lol this guy is funny, considering his team is getting no hit by tim redding

  212. MetsFan4Decades says:

Phillies hitless through 4. Oh, and that’s against the NATs.

  213. chokeartistmets says:

Like the Phils wont win today…………please!!!!!!!!!!

    we all know

    1. Mets wont come back and win

2, Phils will come back and win

  215. danlx13 says:

FIGGY!!! i have a bad feeling bout this

  216. metsftw says:

lol @ the wright hate. i’m sure you retards would rather have derek jeter on your team.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

No thanks. Nor Arod, for that matter.

    • therealsince86 says:

One guy earlier did. He was commenting on how he knew that Jeter would get a hit and Wright would strike out. I guess the only thing that matters is RISP.

    • Two-By-Four says:

Yes, Jeter is a bum. Don’t know how he lasted all these years. He’s the worst SS in the history of baseball.

BTW they don’t play the same position and Jeter is quite a bit older than Wright and on the downside of his career.

      • metsftw says:

well he is actually one of the worst fielding SS in the league. bottom 3.

and i know they don’t play the same position. of course, if jeter were the team player he’s supposed to be, he would’ve moved to 3rd for the best hitting shortstop in the history of baseball.

  217. chokeartistmets says:

    Nelson Figueroa?????????? You guys suck!!!

Lidge, Romero, Durbin, Madson, Condrey – WE ARE LOADED

  218. MetsFan4Decades says:

And welcome back, Figgy. Looking good.

  219. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

good job figgy, this is a huge inning against gagne or mota

  220. NYP-BOS-NYP says:

    Way to go, Figgy!

  221. Nightlife says:

    Great job Figgy.

  222. chokeartistmets says:

HMMMMMMMMMMMM, I WONDER WHAT DAVID WRIGHT WILL DO THIS INNING…………………………………..

ONE AUTOMATIC OUT FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHHAA

  223. anrst says:

no monday morning QB here… I been clamouring for them to use Figeroa… so… good call on my part… thank you.

  224. hi5wright says:

Thanks Figgy! I always thought they sent you do a little too soon… ;)

  225. chokeartistmets says:

    KENDRICK ESCAPES THE JAM……….HAHAHAHAHA

  226. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nats 3, Phills zip.
    HAHAHAHAHA

  227. fatburrell92 says:

Listen chokeartist. You’re playing the Nats, we’re playing the Brewers, let’s not forget that the mets will have 12 games in a row v.s the nats and the Braves. If you think the Phillies are going to win the division they’d best build up a lead by the end of this week.

  228. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

kyle kendrick settling into a willie harris RBI triple. 3-0. 76 pitches

  229. chokeartistmets says:

WHO WANTS TO BET WRIGHT DOES NOTHING HERE??????????????????

YOU ALL KNOW HE WONT DO JACK SH#T

  230. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    the mets haaaaamerrrr. haha

    dwright make this productive please

  231. Nightlife says:

    Alright Murph!

  232. MetsFan4Decades says:

Very nice, Daniel. Just gotta love this kid. Now if we could just teach him to play LF like Beltran plays center…..

  233. anrst says:

    Crime Dog McMurph…(sorry)

  234. danlx13 says:

man on second 0 outs and the heart of the order coming up….whats gunna happen???

  235. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

alright, time to sack up and get a runner home

  236. Metsfan309 says:

Chokeartistmets, if you spend so much time on your computer trying to annoy the crap out of us how come you cant find out the score on your own game.

  237. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

man, c(h)ristian guzman is on fire. double. 4-0

  238. chokeartistmets says:

    DAVID WRIGHT SUCKS BALL HAIRS

    • therealsince86 says:

LOL, why is this guy still here? Look at your score against the Nats.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

      Nats 6, Phills zip.
      Take your meds.

    • sandiegometsman says:

hey buttwipe..against all warnings i still have to respond to you based on your screenname.. THIS AIN’T 2007 PHOLLY FAN.. GO THE F*** HOME! Your team is going down to the NATS!

  239. Metsfan309 says:

    6-0 nats.

  240. metsftw says:

why are you fools responding to the philly troll?

  241. chokeartistmets says:

WHERE ARE ALL YOU WRIGHT LOVERS??????????

WHAT AN OVERRATED PIECE OF HUMAN GARBAGE!!!!!!

  242. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    david wright= day off tomorrow

delgado, beltran i mean come on, its eric gagne not mo rivera

  243. dwright57 says:

why bother talking to a phiillies fan on this site??? what a loser

dont even pay him any mind

  244. whynot1 says:

Jayson Stark had a stat last week that Wright is 3rd or 4th in the majors in runners on base that are NOT driven in.

    • dwright57 says:

who cares dude? lets just win games

    • metsftw says:

that’s because he’s come up so many times in those situations. if he doesn’t succeed at a very high rate he’s going to leave a lot of guys on.

    • el_giacomo says:

Yeah I saw that. RNBI. Wasn’t surprised to see Wright high up on the list. Wish it wasn’t that way, but it is what it is.

  245. therealsince86 says:

Wright has got to shorten his swing a little and try and make contact.

  246. metsfan42793 says:

    arod jr

    • Wright88 says:

c’mon, he has been great with numbers in RISP over his career. But by all means, if you don’t want him on the Mets fine. I’m sure every other team would love to have him.

  247. danlx13 says:

    WOOOOOOOOOO

  248. dwright57 says:

    booo yaaaaaa

  249. metsfan42793 says:

  254. el_giacomo says:

  255. therealsince86 says:

  258. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

    W0000000000000000000000000000000000000000t

  259. almar1965 says:

Now THAT is a clutch player!

Memo to Wright,…go back to the opposite field approach before you make a fool of yourself in September.

  260. dwright57 says:

    see??? stop being F…ing negative….

    Lay off wright
    lay off beltran
    lay off delgado
    lay off castilo

    AND LETS JUST WIN!!!!!

    • danlx13 says:

      y lay off wright???
he hasnt done SH** when it matters

    • hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

i totally agree. its not a contest over who can get the big hit. I promise you, wright will have a few big ones down the stretch if this team wants to win the division.

  261. danlx13 says:

    MVP MVP MVP MVP

how can ppl say wright is more of an MVP than Delgado after doing this all yr

  262. ASod1975 says:

Delgado…Del GAD IT! Hey chokeartist, how’s your team doing against future Hall of Famer Tim Redding?

  263. metsfan42793 says:

HEY WRIGHT MAYBE U SHOULD LEARN A LESSON FROM DELGADO

  264. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Bye, Bye, Choker Boy.

  265. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

  267. Ryn05 says:

Where did all the Phillies fans go?

Oh, you’re getting no hit by Tim Redding hahahaha

  268. rd says:

i don’t want to hear anyone say wright for mvp…… his numbers are 100% “not in the clutch” totally agree with metsfan… flushing arod…….. thank goodness delgado found his clutch hitting this year…… this team would be in the dumps…….

  269. almar1965 says:

Waitaminute. it is only top of 8th. The Mets bullpen is in.

    Certainly NOT over.

  270. das320 says:

    “He saved their bacon”

    LOL

  271. chokeartistmets says:

That was clutch…….I give you that………

Delgado is everything that poster boy prima-donna Wright is not

  272. Ryn05 says:

    4-2!

    Welcome back, Church.

  273. BlueCapsOnly says:

And that should be it for the philly choke boy today…enjoy your bowl of crack.

  274. almar1965 says:

If a one year overrated wonder like Rollins can win MVP last year, then Delgado should surely get it.

  275. MetsFan4Decades says:

    All Right, Churchie !!

    Woo – Hoo !!!!!!!!!!!!

  276. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

eric gagne clap clap clap clap

  277. Nightlife says:

    Thank god for Eric Gagne.

  278. cousinrk says:

6 more outs needed from the Pen. Haven’t we been here before?

  279. Ryn05 says:

Take that ump, that’s for squeezing Santana.

  280. ASod1975 says:

Hey chokeartist, I’ve missed most of the season….what’s the Mets’ record against the Phillies this year?

  281. el_giacomo says:

Beltran & Church keepin the rally goin! Nice!

  282. Ryn05 says:

Bill Hall — look what I found!

  283. lambay says:

greetings from dublin ieland. did anyone say MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  284. danlx13 says:

    stokes in the 8th
    and then let ayala close

  285. kd bart says:

Someone left in an awful hurry.

  286. Wright88 says:

I think people need to lay off Wright a little bit, the guy isn’t even in his prime and will probably break most of the Mets offensive records before all is said and done. And lets not forget he was great with RISP, its just that these numbers tend to fluctuate. Just looks at Jose Reyes’ RISP numbers over his career.

    • metsfan42793 says:

r u an idiot? have u not seen his past 2 at bats

    • ASod1975 says:

Plus the guy could benefit from a day off here and there, methinks…

      • ninohernes says:

Agreed. Dave is young and I think that he has an incredible career ahead of him. I can easily see him in the hall of fame someday. His team spirit, enthusiasm and dedication is very admirable. It is very refreshing to see a player like Dave. I respect Dave very much, and being so close in age to him, I find inspiration in his approach to the game. He is one of my Hero’s. Although I have no desire to be an athlete, the way he utilizes his talent and approaches his work is something that I admire very much and that inspires me to do the same in my work.

  287. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

nats 6-0 no hitter through 5 for redding

  289. LIMetfan74 says:

Please God dont let the bull pen F this up.

  290. anonymii says:

Sounded like Keith just called him “Gag nee” lol

  291. kd bart says:

Of course, I’m not going to get too excited. I’ve seen this bullpen too much. I’ll be dying inside for the next inning and a half.

  292. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

I hope Tim “Cy” Redding keeps it up. And I hope JRoll and friends are scoreboard watching in DC.

  293. almar1965 says:

Here we go. Two of the longest innings of the game.

  294. Darth Manuel says:

Carlos Delgado is the definition of MVP.. Can’t believe in the final season of Shea we will hear MVP chants for Delgado…. Worlds have collided!!!

  295. Tina says:

God love the Nats. Dodgers, Braves, now the Phillies. They are not going to stay this hot, I think that’s nearly certain, so thank heavens the Phillies get them now!

  296. anrst says:

bobby parnell… put him in next… let’s do it

  297. skylog says:

    this ump is garbage

  298. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

everyone relax, its going to be alright

  299. LIMetfan74 says:

  300. pedro4545 says:

oh boy here we go again

  301. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

    get the revolving door going.

  302. metsfan42793 says:

and now enters our star reliever feliciano to save the day

  303. MetsFan4Decades says:

Plenty of arms in that BP. I don’t care if they have to use them all to get this done.

  304. chokeartistmets says:

Hmmmmmmmmm, I wonder if your pen will blow this!!!!!!! LOL

    • sandiegometsman says:

Dude, how old are u? Your getting blown out and talking s*** here.. Get the f**** outta here a hole..

    • metsfan42793 says:

i missed u chokeartist. hows the no hitter going

    • sandiegometsman says:

Hey Choker,, are you going to get a hit today? what are you doing here.. you should be on the Phollies blog whining and bitchng about everything and how miserable they are..

  305. sandiegometsman says:

Braun is just unreal.. This kid is putting up insane numbers… 3-4 and he’s been on fire…. Dangerous hitter…

  306. stickguy says:

my goodness, it’s opposite day! no offense early, get all the runs late.

But what the heck is wrong with DWtoday? Must have left his game in Fla.

and of course, they get the lead and the pen can’t do anything easy.

  307. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

ill take it, 5 more folks

  308. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Next……

  309. Nightlife says:

    big K by Feliciano.

  310. cousinrk says:

Great job Pedro. I love the mix and match game, it was my favorite gameshow as a kid.

  311. SoDakMets says:

The National’s announcers just gave some of the credit to the Nat’s offense picking up to Anderson Hernandez. How bad does your offense have to be to start out with to have A-Hern be an upgrade?

  312. Ryn05 says:

    Redding no hitter through 5.

  313. cousinrk says:

Philly fans are so cute. Must be the result of their teams never winning any championships in any sport. Losing makes them so adorable.

  314. bvaz says:

remember when the fans used to rip Willie for doing the exact same thing that Manuel has done the past few weeks?
what happened to these defined roles?
I’m not defending Willie but some things are easier said than done.

I’m just happy the team is winning.

    • kbh218 says:

People were just looking for reasons to rip Willie after the collapse. I honestly don’t think he was that bad a manager. However, I also don’t think he was that good either.

  315. das320 says:

    way to go joe!

  316. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

4 more folks, is it just me or the shadows are making it seem these balls getting hit or fouled off

  317. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nice K, Joe.

  318. pedro4545 says:

    attaboy joey

  319. metsfan42793 says:

there goes the no hitter stupid victorino

  320. danlx13 says:

    YEEESSS JOE SMITH

  321. ReyesMets says:

    wooo!

  322. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Very, very nice, Joey.

  323. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    wooooo

the new and improved met bullpenn

    haha

  324. anrst says:

    our bullpen is dominant

  325. metsfan42793 says:

why does shane victorino have to ruin everything

  326. Nightlife says:

    Whoa!

    Great job by the pen!

  327. pedro4545 says:

    BIG TIME JOE.

  328. danlx13 says:

victorino is probably my least favorite player in the major leagues

  329. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    o well no hitter gone,

but i will enjoy the phills losing 6- to the red hot nats

  330. bvaz says:

man, these Met pitchers are going to drive me crazy.
Figgy looks great for an inning and then inning #2 gives up a long double. Feliciano looked great for a batter as did Smith for 2, but next time out they won’t be able to get an out.

anyone think Reyes gets a shot to close today?

  331. el_giacomo says:

Nice job Joe Smith! Considering our pen’s woes, he’s been pretty solid for us. Not perfect (who is?), but compared to our other arms in the bullpen, he’s been quite good.

  332. anrst says:

proboblu ayala for the ninth? right?

  333. fatburrell92 says:

well well look who it is. Guillermo Mota.

  334. stickguy says:

my goodness, 3 straight Ks from the Mets pen? Has that happened before this year (at least without Wagner?)

Wow, Mota coming in! Time to pile on the runs!

  335. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

lets put up a few on this bum too.

anyone want to see parnell in the 9th, even though we know its probably going to be ayala

  336. sandiegometsman says:

No hitter gone… I wouldn’t mind a shut out though… Funny watching the Phollies choke against the Nats this year.. Lets see what happens.. Our bully looks solid today… Lets add on some runs boys..

  337. sandiegometsman says:

Its Mota, we should get like 6 runs… I hate this guy….

  338. das320 says:

    Quasi-MOTA

  339. MetsFan4Decades says:

Reyes has like an eleven game hitting streak?

  340. cousinrk says:

Maybe DWright can watch Reyes on how you actually hit the ball the other way, since he seems to have forgotten

  341. pedro4545 says:

good start…another run would make me feel much more confident

  342. MetsFan4Decades says:

Come on, Jose. What are you doing there?

  343. sandiegometsman says:

Nice move Jose… against Mota no less..

  344. pedro4545 says:

    WTF Reyes

  345. D in Ben Lomond says:

Don Mattingly> Is that who Murphy stands like? Thats what brewers announcers said. BTW, these announcers are soooo much better than the crap the NL east rivals put in the booth.

  346. BlueCapsOnly says:

    ok david, redeem yourself!

  347. pedro4545 says:

    Murphy is the man

  348. MetsFan4Decades says:

    O.K., 3 more outs Luis……..

  349. anrst says:

D Wright in September… not a good start

  350. ReyesMets says:

nervous with Ayala coming in…not gonna lie

  351. anrst says:

I’m not confident in Ayala’s health… the groin

  352. LIMetfan74 says:

    Everybody hold your breath!!

  353. el_giacomo says:

Terrible game for Wright today. I’m sure he’ll bounce back though…hopefully tomorrow.

  354. Wright88 says:

    damnit….stupid ump cost us Beltran.

  355. josejosejose says:

everyone is saying how good rincon is well where is he

  356. MetsFan4Decades says:

Oh, NO! Hope that ‘right knee contusion’ by Beltran is not serious.

  357. LIMetfan74 says:

    Great Beltran out

  358. Dafatone80 says:

Damnit. Beltran hurt his knee. Hope it’s nothing big.

  359. ExileInLA says:

    What’s with Beltran coming out?

  360. anrst says:

THAT UMP… I mean, get outta the way fool

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Exactly. Looked like he wasn’t even paying attention to Beltran who was sliding in……

  361. MetsFan4Decades says:

    That’s one…..

  362. josejosejose says:

might be bad he had offseason knee surgery

  363. anrst says:

    FKN IDIOT UMP

  364. dwright57 says:

beltran is fine…………you know gansta jerry dont mess around

just being safe……plus chavez can play that D!!

  365. anrst says:

MLB commissioner office oughtta credit us with 5 extra winds b/c of that stupid ump

  366. anrst says:

    so the F down Kendall

  367. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nice K. That’s two…….

  368. el_giacomo says:

    1 more, c’mon Ayala!

  369. cousinrk says:

That’s two straight scoreless games for the bullpen and 6 innings in total. Let’s hope its the sign of things turning around

  370. mr.gee21 says:

    Heck yeah!

  371. MetsFan4Decades says:

    GAME OVER !

    Met’s win it.

    Woo – Hoo !!

  372. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

the new and improved met bullpen folks

    lets go nats!!!!!

  373. cousinrk says:

Ayala looked real good, great job

  374. therealsince86 says:

Bruised knee and will be day to day. Expect a day off tomorrow, can prob. pinch hit.

  375. pedro4545 says:

    ONE MORE….

  376. el_giacomo says:

    YES YES YES! HUGE WIN!

  377. BlueCapsOnly says:

Brad Nelson looks like a fat Ryan Church

  378. LIMetfan74 says:

    HUGE WIN!!!!

  379. Dafatone80 says:

    Woooooo!

  380. ReyesMets says:

    TREMENDOUS WIN

  381. pedro4545 says:

Great win….September 2008 already feels a little different doesn’t it?

    • stickguy says:

don’t want to pee on your parade, but I seem to recall that the beginning of september 2007 went pretty well too.

Everyone remembers the 7 game lead, but on 8/31 they were only about 1 or 2 up. They padded the lead in early September to even get up to the 7.

  382. mr.gee21 says:

CHOKE ON THIS! Heck of a win.

  383. cousinrk says:

Well if we do win the division we’ll be facing the Brewers, and its nice to knwo their bullpen is not a whole lot better than ours.

  384. BlueCapsOnly says:

Nats are starting to make it interesting :( 6-2 bases loaded with Phils

  385. sandiegometsman says:

The Nats are pulling a choke here…. Same old NATS..

  386. hotchipwillbreakyourlegs says:

I think if the beltran injury was serious, he wouldnt have played the 8th in the OF. I bet it started to swell and they wanted to get ice on it right away. and they dont lose defense with endy out there

  387. pedro4545 says:

Phils down 4 with bases loaded in 2 outs…hugge out here.

  388. mr.gee21 says:

Okay, Sheets is gone. Let’s take the series…

Thank you Delgado, this is one more big game the Mets owe ya’. Comeback player of the year.

  389. stickguy says:

big win. Great job by the pen.

    Now, let’s go Neise!

I am actually expecting a Binghamton/N.O. game. Neise goes as far as he can (5 would be huge!) then they bring in Parnell as the long man.

Any combo of those 2 guys to get them 7-8 innings without too many runs would be huge.

ANd plezse Washington, hold on to win this game!

    • ASod1975 says:

Washington’s pen has walked in a run and hit a batter with the bases loaded…not looking good but still up by three with bases juiced.

  390. Dafatone80 says:

Wait, did Beltran hurt his knee sliding INTO THE UMP?

Jesus. We should sue or something.

  391. ExileInLA says:

Meanwhile, back in Washington, our old friend Pat Burrell just worked a bases-loaded walk to force in the 2nd run…and the same reliever just hit Coste with a pitch to force in the 3rd run.

    • ExileInLA says:

      whew.

      2 hits, 3 walks, 1 HBP, but only 3 runs. Middle of 6th, WAS 6 PHL 3.

    • mr.gee21 says:

Sigh. Welcome to September, where we have to care about a freakin’ Phils/Nats game of all things.

Hmmm…they need to get nine more outs, eh? Too bad we don’t have anyone from our pen to send them.

  392. fatburrell92 says:

Damn Beltran’s injury might be serious.

  393. cousinrk says:

Yeah Jerry is not making me feel better about Beltran right now. Hopefully its just a bone bruise or something. Ugh!!

  394. fatburrell92 says:

I doubt it’s serious it was just a little collision. Maybe he’ll take the day off tomorrow. But it can’t be that bad. It’s not like he pulled something.

  395. danlx13 says:

the difference between this yr and last yr was that this r we actually have a starting rotation…last yr our rotation was horrible..this yr there are two starters i have 100 % confidence in(pelf and johan), 1 pitcher who i am 90% confident in (Olliee) and 1 pitcher i have aboout 85% confidence in (Pedro)…….Last yr was not even close to that
Dont worry mets fans we will make it this yr!!!!!
we just have to take care of washington towards the end of the season!!lol

  396. Slugwart says:

    - we all know
    -
    - 1. Mets wont come back and win
    -
    - 2, Phils will come back and win

Your powers are beyond our comprehension, Nostradomus.
